They're better than other places that I looked at. But there's still some shortcomings. They're having a tremendous turnover of staff, and I would like to see a steady, consistent staff. But the food is very tasty and well-prepared, and they offer a wide selection. And what activities I've done I've enjoyed.

Very thankful for help in getting spouse out of [name removed]. Morton House had a very nice room. They had staff problems. Nurses were friendly. To much pork on menu. Shower inaccessible for bed bound. Spouse was not included in exercises. No medicaid facility. No phone in room.

Facility was nice. [name removed] was very professional and helpful. Memory care and assisted living combined. Concerning with special needs of memory care residents. [name removed] was incredible.

I don't think I could recommend this community to others, The way they handled covid was not good when it first started. They do not communicate well and don't return phone calls and don't keep communication channels open.

Beautiful facility. Sweet staff. 80% of residents are Level 3-6. Does not take Medicaid applications. Small. Estimated 54 residents. Not in Mom and Dads best interest as they are independent living and need only minor assistance.

My loved one received rehabilitation from a broken bone recently at Carnagie Village. There are many things to consider when looking for rehab, everyone's list will be different. We were in search of the best rehabilitation for weakness and fatigue, rehab for recent surgical intervention. We wanted healthy food, good access to medical services ( all disciplines ), internal medicine, psychiatry, cardiology services and others. We had been to a rehab in Kansas, Foxwoods Springs & John Knox Village. They were all sub par in many ways. They only exception was the facility in Kansas. Our experience has been excellent for rehab, access to physicians and nourishment. There is one very big, big deficit. They don't answer the nurse call lights timely and sometimes not at all. This really puts your loved one at risk as the many sit on toilet for very long periods of time. Everyone I talked with that had family there all complained on delayed wait times. My loved one was left toileting for 45 minutes one time and only got help when she was screaming and a doctor intervened so that she could get help. Tgey have very loving and compassionate caregivers the are understaffed for their patients census. If this is important to you I would not consider Carnagie. If you loved one does not require needs that require the request for assistance from a call light then you should consider Carnagie. 5 Stars for care. Less than one star for access to call via call light system. I have addressed this issue with the Director of Nursing and the Administratior. They have BIG EARS and listen but they do not report back to you either a solution, nor is the issue solved or improved. Their RN's & CMT' s do not assist the sides in nursing assistant duties. This review is for the rehabilitation side not the skilled nursing care unit. If you want quick help via a call light system consider John Knox Village. Their food is awful but you get results and top notch care from their nursing assistants. Lack if care or concern with problems with response time increases the risk of injury to your loved one. I go to my mothers side every two hours. If you can't be at your loved ones bedside often during the day and at bedtime...then I would not suggest Carnagie Village. Do your homework. It is exhausting for all of the worry from 6pm to 6am, as you know the patient might as well call 911 than to press th call light You should plan to be available to get your loved one up and tuck them in as you are on their timeline for that as well. With that being said send a family member that is skilled in transfer of pt to chair, bed and toilet.

The memory care unit looks and feels like a nursing home, which I don't feel would be a helpful atmosphere. The cottages are nice.

My father was a resident at Stratford Commons Memory Care for almost 27 months. During that time, I visited him at least once or twice every week. Most of the nursing staff were caring, hard-working, and respectful of residents.Unfortunately, as is all too often the case in assisted living communities, staff sufficient to effectively meet residents’ needs were not always available. Another detrimental, but common to assisted living, problem was staff turnover, especially among supervisory personnel. For example, four or five different activity/program coordinators were on staff during my father’s residency. The meals were above average, I believe, and the one-bedroom apartments were spacious. However, I cannot really recommend this memory care community. It lacks group transportation to take residents to any outside activities. Of more particular significance, my father lost the ability to get up and walk while there, primarily because staff did not follow through with exercises begun by physical therapists. Finally, he lost more than $300 worth of personal items during his stay.

Minor items but add up – getting blood pressure checked b/4 meds, showering at regular time as this confuses me, new faces need introduced often as its confusing as to who they are. Overall pleased with my home.

Administrator staff is great. Helping (caring) staff serving bathing, serving meds. Is great in serving and answering questions. Never needs to be on am. And pm. Hours for questions and teaching both of the staff and residents in variety of medical condition. Cooling staff caring in giving food for senior citizen and the handicapped. Staff who does activities need lots of help and advice. I would be glad to answer my questions.

I lived in Carroll since 1949. I have lived at Swan Place for nearly 3 years I love it here. I love [Removed] as our administrator.

I think a nurse here would be good.

We are in the memory care unit it is a locked facility and I got kicked out because the staff brought in a boyfriend and I asked him to leave my wifes home. He didn't belong there if he didn't have family there. They have great caregivers and it is nice and clean. They try to engage her to join the daily activities. The management leaves something to be desired.

Sycamore Manor looked like a nice enough community, and I liked it when I toured there. However, it seemed to be that the community was short staffed, and I was not confident that my loved one would not be able to get the attention she needed there.

The food at this community looks good and they seem to have some healthy choices. The staff are friendly and encouraging. They do offer some activities. The memory care unit is on the second floor so the residents are not able to enjoy the outdoors. The community is clean, however I would not recommend this community.

I saw a nice community when I had stopped by for a visit. They were doing a major renovation and it was looking very nice. It was not going to be a fit for our needs so we passed on moving in.

Facility felt too much like a hotel.

My father is doing okay since his move to this community, but I do have some concerns. He is still adjusting, and I do feel he is safe, and in good hands. One of my concerns is they are slow with getting anything fixed. He has had a/c problems, door issues. The responsive time of the maintenance needs to be quicker. The staff is kind, and very helpful. I do have to let my father know that they are there to help him when he needs it. His room is pretty clean, but they are doing some updating around the community. So the cleanliness of the community isn't the best. Hopefully when they are done, the cleanliness improves. I have had a meal, and the food is good. My father seems to like the meals. Overall there is room for improvement, but I would recommend this community.

This place was a really nice facility and had a lot of great features throughout the building, it just felt more of a nursing home in my opinion. They level of care they provided and limitations they had on there residents was way more than my father had needed.

My mother likes life at Pin. Place. The staff seems sincerely interested and attentive to the residents (typical Iowa goodness). The food is much better in April 2017 up from darn awful. The weakness of the place is the health care. They miss things. I pity those without family to keep an eye on them. Administrators have been unresponsive to family communications. Their service is good but they've gotten fat and lazy.
