No AL here

Our loved one lived in this facility for just under 2 years . The costs kept going up, while the care became very poor. They left our loved one in a near comatose state from dehydration. I had to call the paramedics because the concierge didn't know what to do. The director of the dementia club told me there was too much paperwork for her to call 911 so I called. We were told they check in on the AL residents all day long but this is not the case at all. We were sold on all kinds of activities, hydration smoothies everyday. Dementia group for an extra 750/month for people not quite ready for memory care but still needing to socialize. This 'club' was led by an individual who had no compassion or business holding court with people who need compassion, direction and love. This person was rude to the residents on a daily basis. My heart ached for them. The care staff only saw our loved one in the morning, escort to meals, evening bedtime. If I wanted our loved one to go to activities, I would have to call and ASK them to escort. Now, there is a $10 charge for each escort. In order to stay at the facility, we were told we would have to BUY DOWN our loved ones' rent with a one time fee in order to be in their new ALL INCLUSIVE gimmick or the cost will go up at their discretion at any time with no warning. The only stars I can give this facility is the cleanliness. It is kept clean. It's more of a retirement home that an AL. They don't assist with anything without a huge charge involved on top of your rent and healthcare cost. I would not recommend this place unless you are an independent, able bodied individual who doesn't need any help and with lots of money to throw their way. Turnover in caregivers (I'll refrain from calling them CNA's because they are not) is beyond ridiculous. There are no RN's or doctor at this facility so unless you are comfortable with 1 director of nursing who is not an RN in charge of managing your loved ones' meds, don't let them! They messed up my loved ones' blood thinner so bad that I had to take all meds away from them. Trust me, there is a huge charge for distribution of MEDS and they don't know what they are doing! It's scary to say the least. The concierge desk is the only friendly face you will see at this facility. It stops there. If you are thinking about this facility, get everything they say they are going to do for your loved one, in writing. Don't take their word for it because it's all just lip service to get your money. The fees go up once you are inside the facility. Also, be sure to get in writing how many staff are CPR trained and how many are on the floor at night capable of helping in the event of an emergency. You can also check with the Fishers Fire Dept. Check their state evaluations as well. Last I knew, there was only 1 capable aid on duty at night. There are too many residents for just 1 aid at night.

We toured this community and overall it was nice. I was told that when I called to get some information that we could stop by name time and someone would be able to bring us around and answer our questions so that is what we did. My brother and I stopped by without an appointment and the person who was in charge of tours was not able to do it so the charge LPN brought us around. I was very disappointed in the tour she was unable to answer any of our questions and the main area or common room that we went in it appeared that it was full of residents but no staff anywhere around to monitor them which gave me a very uneasy feeling. The over all of the professionalism of the secretary and the staff could improve. The pricing that we got wasn't too bad and the location wasn't too bad it was just the general feeling that was given left me uneasy

Room for Improvement

The actual premises is very nice, and has a great location. We have had issues with linens being changed as promised, cleaning and laundry. I have noticed quite a bit of turnover in the care staff. There is supposed to be one staff member for every 8 residents, and this isn't always the case which concerns me. The staff does seem to be diligent and hard working when they are there. I have learned since placing my dad here that this is a private pay agency, so they don't have to adhere to some of the standards that Medicare and Medicaid agencies have to.

?? Food - bad. Everything else -??

Sooo, my parents moved in last spring. Food was fabulous for this type of place albeit wait staff was/is slow. The food has been slowly declining over the months from very good to cheap Banquet brand type entrees served as lunch and dinner specials. An overly salted processed breaded meat/poultry patty with some cold bbq sauce sitting on top was served as "Bbq Chicken". Portions are skimpy on the vegetables, sauces, gravies etc. Not enough varety of vegetables served with each meal and they seem to run out of everything almost everyday no matter what time you go to eat so you end up eating whatever they have on hand. Breakfast is about the only good dependable meal of the day. The overall staff in general are very good and helpful and the nurses are great. They are definitely running under staffed and it appears to be the norm. The grounds are very well maintained, but the dining room is a place where looks are deceiving. Oh and what is up with the very good meals I see on some tables and the "crap" food I see on others?

If Memory Care is needed, visit often and watch over your loved one closely. get a ring Camera

Proximity to my dad and my sister and I was an asset. My mother was in the memory care unit. While superficially, we thought that it was a good choice, the staffing was consistently a struggle. My mother was at both traditions and [removed] in Grove City. Most experiences were lacking and a disappointment in the overall healthcare system.

Very disappointed.

My father's room almost never got cleaned. It took them weeks before they did his laundry. It was weeks before they gave him a shower. Laundry and showers were left up to my brother and I at the beginning. His medicine was late, some days doses were missed. They used my father's expensive pads on other patients and we had to pay for them. The director of nursing never ever responded to my requests for information or help. The only bright spot was one of the ladies at the concierge desk, a few of the aides and one or two nurses. Once hospice came in, my dad got excellent care. Thank goodness for them.

We like the property. The staffing is always changing. My mother was physically abused by an aide. It was on camera. When I showed them the film, they fired her. My dad is still there. He likes the activities but doesn't always get to go. He requires a wheelchair. They raised his care cost [fee removed] a month. He's incontinent and needs 4 showers a week. Seems like a lot to me. They have a new person who is trying to make it better. We'll see how he does, my mom died in [date removed] .

The staff in memory care seemed caring and nice but management were in over their heads. Food was so poor in memory care that ODH was called. They did a great job getting the people in memory care to participate in activities. The management is condescending and quick to blame others, little is their problem. The memory staff caregivers were doing the best that they could do.

A lot of staff turnvoer

At least on some shifts they do not actively care for the patients. They do not supervise. I've seen patients who have fallen and are injured not get immediate attention. Sometimes the food was just basically a sandwich for supper. I would expect for the cost that it would be a cooked meal at the supper meal. I never saw much activities. They'd put them in front of the tv and maybe I saw them coloring a couple of times.

Very very short staffed.

It is always short staffed in memory care. day and nights. The staff could do more checking on the residents at night and less playing on there phones. They push them off into the T.V. untie most of them go to bed, so they can sit in the nurses station.

Not a good place

When my grandfather arrived at the memory care wing of Meadow Brook, the Community Relations Director updated me by email that he was happily pushing people in wheelchairs because he was doing so well. But he died a month and a half later—more than likely due to the facility’s near-complete lack of memory care activities, its emphasis on apartment-style living that increases isolation, and its use of benzos/pharmacological restraint (something I questioned in particular that they refused to respond to unlike other facilities I asked) that likely led to my grandfather's 12 falls (that we know of) and subdural hematoma. As my dad put it from what he saw multiple times in the memory care wing’s (beautiful) day room: “They were all zombies who couldn’t even hold their heads up.” Please do your homework and make several site visits before choosing this facility for memory care. My grandfather wasn't fortunate enough to have a POA that moved him out of this place in time.

Only recommend for Individuals that are mostly Independent

Having many issues with my mother in law getting showers, room not being cleaned , broken closet door multiple times, lost her glucometer we brought in with her and then charged us for glucose strips and didn't notify us until a month after she was there that they didn't have her glucometer, not having our correct information in her chart even though we had given everything on arrival, not having the automatic bank withdrawal form in her chart that I filled out prior to her moving in causing much stress to my mother in law, not being able to contact staff and not receiving return phone calls when leaving messages. The cleanliness is a 2 for her room. Every time we go there we have to clean her bathroom. I had to request that her garbage be emptied more than once a week because the smell in her room was awful. Rest of the place seems clean. Staff are mostly friendly when we are there. However they are not responsive to my mother in laws needs. She seems satisfied with meals. she does not participate but there are a lot of activities. Paying mostly for her room and dispensing meds and meals. We don't really feel that she is getting great care

Good first impression, downhill from there

My loved one was previously a resident at Park Place Senior Living and overall the experience was poor. They had poor meal preparation and slow service. The activities stopped at 3:00 in the afternoon. Management seemed more interested in increasing care levels for additional revenue and less interested in the actual facility. They said they go with higher managed care to protect their nursing license.

Not worth the price

During tours we were sold one thing and given another. Solana has not met our expectations. The dining room has not been available to my mother 24/7. The nurses are not showering my mother as promised. The activities don’t have any meaning behind them. We were told they do meaningful things like trivia and remembering the past and paint and sips with happy hour social 3x a week. I have not received not even one activity calendar from the director. I was told I’d get one every week via email. Very dirty on weekends.

4 years of experience with parents living here - Has gone downhill rapidly

Our parents lived here [date removed]. The frequent and haphazard turnover in management is frustrating. The director of nursing will not communicate, return emails or phone calls, and is generally unpleasant / difficult / disengaged in every meaningful way. The hallways often smell, which indicates to us that there are cleaning problems. Despite requesting and paying for incremental services such as laundry, assistance with personal hygiene, etc .... our loved ones did not receive what we were charged for. We simply could not take it any longer and moved our parents to a better community. However, we will emphatically say that the front desk staff, several floor nurses and some of the mid-management staff are wonderful. But sadly, they do not run the show and we would advise anyone to VERY CAREFULLY consider top management and the director of nursing when choosing a community. It will make all the difference in the world. We would give Traditions at Solana a grade of "D" in 2023.

Lack of care and compassion

New Hope Valley did not meet our expectations. They talked a good talk, but the food was disgusting. I even took a picture of it and ask them if they would eat it and they couldn’t believe what my mother was served on a daily basis. Also, the care was not very good. The aids who came in, did not treat my mother well, and they also wrote down things saying that they did a certain thing when in reality they did not. They did not help keep her clean on a regular basis, and if it weren’t for my sister and I my mother would’ve been in worse shape than she really was for the money that we paid for that place the service was terrible. The room was nice. The facility was nice but what really matters is the care that you receive. That is what we had objections to.

My review of Traditions of Beavercreek

They need to improve communication between staff on different shifts, and between staff and family. Cleaning of residents living spaces needs to be improved. Food needs to be massively improved. This is all with regard to Memory Care. I can't say anything about regular Assisted Living.

HORRIBLE!

The Building is aging and looks awful compared to competitors. They raised the price of services by 12%. Complete BULL. They got rid of the one good executive director, [name removed]. The servers look dirty, I don’t want my mom eating in the dining area anymore. The food is not so tasty. We were lied to by previous director, [name removed] on many occasions. The building is FILTHY. No floors are ever mopped and it smells like a nursing home. Nurse [name removed] is amazing and caring. Without her, mom wouldn’t be as well as she is. [name removed] helps our family more than anyone here. Great recreational program with a passionate activity director . Looking at competitors. I’d be embarrassed to work for traditions. Goodbye, [name removed]. I wonder what they did to run you away.
