Very nice community. I really liked the home feel and all the activities that this facility has to offer.

This is a beautiful place and it was comparable, price-wise, to others we were looking at but we have more of my family in New York/New Jersey area so I thought that would be a better place for my mom. She could have more people to visit her up there. That was purely a geographic decision.

My mom is not really getting involved in any activities, I have seen them there, but she doesn't do any of them. The food is excellent, what they provide is way better than the other places checked; I would put them as far superior. But you just get a continental breakfast in the morning and then a full dinner, so they don't get lunch and I just wish they would get a little more protein for breakfast. My mom wanted high ceilings and there's probably 17 foot ceilings so it seems more spacious and she has a great water view and a view of several pools and some trees, it's very nice.

The lady, she's a friend from church, but she don't need a whole lot of care, it's not perfect, but all in all I think it's pretty good. I guess her mother used to be there, she's happy there and she seems to be content. The main thing I hear her saying is communication, everytime she calls them to have them take her in the van to a doctors appointmentthey say it's booked or its full so she calls me to take her and she doesn't think they communicate with her like they should, but thats pretty much what I hear her complain about.

Deepwood looked great, it just didn't have the care we thought she would need and it wouldn't provide what she would need. It's more independent living, they don't have caregivers on site, they just have residential managers and I know they have pull cords and they would have responded if there was an emergency.

My parents have only been there 2 and a half weeks, so far everything is fine. Overall it seems pretty good, my parents like the food and it did take them a while to get someone in there to clean, for some reason after the first week they didn't come in but they are now. Sometimes the managers seem overwhelmed, but I could have just caught them on a bad day or something. From the tour to my parents being there now, I don't think it's changed an awful lot. The maintenance person there is very, very good and everyone seems to be caring and friendly. I don't think they've really gotten involved in any activities yet, my father is hard of hearing and my mother has Alzheimer's, but they have all sorts of activities for Alzheimer's, it's just a matter of it being communicated to my parents. I think they send around a little paper that tells them about the activities during the week and they have a calendar and menus so they know what is being served.

I think it's the perfect fit. It's three meals a day in a pleasant dining room, there's lots of light in the common areas, the activities director is real personable. I like the size of ti for him, it's small so everybody will sort of look familiar after a while so that's a good thing. It's independent living but they saw something that they thought we might want to address so they're attentive which is nice. It's clean, and that's part of what the room and board is providing, his sheets and towels are washed once a week and light cleaning once a week so that's nice. The other stand alones in the area didn't provide the three meals a day so there really wasn't anything else to compare this to.

I think they did a pretty good job. Everybody is sort of relaxed. The front staff is very good at interacting and working with the people - they know everybody's name. The apartment is nice. They refurnished it. My dad is eating 3 square meals a day and they're good meals. The management encourages you to come and eat with them. We're still in the trial period but I'm encouraged right now. I had a good feeling about them when we first went over there and my dad would ask about the place. He's pretty comfortable there. He's still melting into the crowd but he's starting to get to know people. My only concern is that they are not assisted living. You can get assisted care if you hire a 3rd party to come in and some people do that but if we get to a point where he needs more I'm not sure if they will be equipped.

They've been flexible with my mom. What I like is that there is a very tenured staff so there is a lot of consistency over the years. The head of the memory care floor has been there for years, almost since they opened. She is used to train the other Sunrise properties in the area. Since there is such a tenured staff, that usually comes with good things for the elderly. I've been pleased. I've learned this from first hand experience as well as growing up around elderly grandparents - nothing is perfect but this property is really good. They really try.

Really liked this place and parents actually seemed interested. Will work to take them to visit.

Loved the apartments! Very nice employees and residents.A little out of the way, but the area is growing. Unfortunately, does not appear to be the type of progressive situation we are looking for though.

My mother was in a different community before moving to Sunrise. When we were looking to move her we were looking for a better staff to resident ratio, clean community, staff that had the time to feed her real food and actually take care of her, Sunrise of Johns Creek met all of these requirements and then some. Cathy their sales director is a great sales person answered a lot of questions and was really just great and helpful. She was really a difference maker when it came to choosing a community. We are very happy with Sunrise.

The main reason I chose this community was financially driven. The other comparable locations were much more expensive the Sunrise. The community is located in a nicely wooded area and is surrounded by trees. There is a garden that provides beautiful views and colors. It is located in an area that has lots of shopping areas around. The food looks ok but I have not had a chance to try it yet.

I would definitley put River's Edge at the top of the list for Independent Living. I looked at approximately 25 properties in Savannah and this was one of the best. The properties I saw ranged from Memory Care facilities, to nursing homes, assisted living, and independent living, this was one of the best for independent living. We chose River's Edge becasue of the cleanliness, we liked the place - unfortunately, it didn't work for my mother's needs. She needed more assistance over independent living. The only other thing was they offered an in house group called THA at a discounted rate and said it was set up already, however, we came to find out it was in the process of being set up, which is why I marked them lower on Care Services. But the food, laundry, and transportation was phenomenal, I would rate those 5 stars.

Nice, lots of staff only negative all services a la carte, billed daily, activity fee, service level fee, if 31 days in the month cost higher. Would have gone there if not for the billing practice.

Like Marion Woods, I like Smoky Springs even though I haven't toured it , it is a Holiday community so I know it would be like Marion Woods if I decide to move to Ga where my son is only a few miles from this location.
