Cottage Landing was a really new modern place. The common areas of the community were kept up nicely but the rooms lacked cleaning. The rooms needed attention to the dust, cobwebs, and floors. The community boasts a very nice open environment. The staff that offered the tour were very knowledgeable but they were not professionally or appropriately dressed for the community.

Older facility in need of renovation. The carpet is burgundy and the couches in public areas are gold. That said, it appears clean and there are no offensive odors. The property has been well cared for inside and out. Pros: Only 3 floors, longevity of staff and tenants, 3 meals a day, weekly housekeeping and linen services. Cons: Lacks full kitchen, lacks w/ hookups, lacks internet in units, 2BR relatively expensive for lack of full kitchen, etc.

Mixed experience

We had somewhat of a mixed experience with The Regency House. My loved one lived here for a time, and while they did a decent job to start the quality of the care seemed to decrease as they settled into a routine. It was never a bad place, but now that we've looked around we've found better options for a similar price.

Overall good

I felt the facility's are good, the views are spectacular. Most of the employees are very nice and the residents for the most part seem happy. But on the flip side there can be long waits for elevators and the wait staff isn't particularly friendly. My father has told me that you have to sit with people for meals, that can be a little bit of pain.

This place looked nice enough during my tour, but the saleswoman and staff were a big turn off. They seemed generally unfriendly, and the saleswoman was very pushy. She didn't answer my questions to my satisfaction, and kept referencing I could find out if I moved in, and that they had a special if I moved within 30 days. No thanks.

Minimal Care

My friend used to live at HarborChase but they wouldn't take her back because she was beyond assisted living. There was no care. They didn't do anything. She was responsible for taking care of herself which she really couldn't do anymore. The only thing they did was they administered her medications. Other than that she wasn't being tended to at all.

It was okay but I did not like a couple of things. I did not like the fact that it was multi-level and the memory care unit was on the fourth floor; it was like, this place catches fire and everybody dies. I know it's a fire protected building but there's no way the people in memory care would get out in time. Another thing I didn't like was the pricing set up, it was an a la carte pricing set up.

Billing and care issues

My aunt was here for several years, it looked nice on the inside, there was a lot of staff, not necessarily ones that spoke much English which I didn't care much for. To me and my wife, she was in the wrong section, she was in memory care and we thought she should have been more in the "general population," but that was supposidly her fault, she didn't want to move. They did have activities, but the biggest problem we had was the lack of English speakers, the staff turnover rate and that they doubled in price with no real explanation. There was some stuff going on with physical therapy, after we had visited her, we asked if they could give her some physical therapy to increase her upper body strength and they basically did a years work of medicare rehab in a matter of a couple of weeks and then they said they were done. After that we started looking at the billing procedures and her charges varied dramatically from month to month and there were all kinds of signals going off that something wasn't right.

Crazy place, would be better for someone active

This was weak, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week it was just weak. I know they get a high rating but once you move in they kind of forget about you, it's crazy, you can't find your key, you can't find a diaper, it's just crazy. We're all going to get there eventually but what's important is that they take care of you. I'm not trying to bash the Fountains, they're fine if your active but my father in law wasn't. Their facility is nice and it's clean, I mean it's clean, clean. I could walk around there with a glove and not pick anything up. They had given my father in law the code to leave out the door and I was like "what the hell?!" and then he gave that number, which he barely remembered, to another man who went out and got drunk. It was crazy, it was like high school days when you went out, got drunk and came home. I guess when you get older you start to miss those days, and when you're 80 you really miss it.
