I have only observed for one month. As with every place there are going to be staff that are more efficient and caring than others. I only wish there was increased staffing and better weekend coverage. I take my hat off to those caregivers who work extremely hard and you wouldn't be able to pay them enough for what they do. I hope there will be an opportunity to review again in the months ahead. I don't want to forget the food department and one cook in particular that is very good. The housekeeping department also does a great job.

The facilities are kept in excellent condition. The staff are friendly but are quick to cut off services if payment is not made right on time. Their attitude at times can be curt and abrupt. Otherwise the facility provides a good place to stay though a bit on the pricey side.

We like the accomadations at The Fountain at Franklin. It has a home like environment. The people are friendly and helpful. It is clean and smells clean. My husband is slowly adjusting to the new rountine. Thank you for your help.

Really like the experience thus far. A beautiful facility. Very clean, and courteous staff. Because my Mother is temporarily in a respite unit, the "assisted services" have been a little sporatic. But the immediate efforts to correct any oversights have been noted. I would likely recommend this facility to others.

Upon first moving in they gave us a particular price and they've been trying to mess aroudn with the numbers. They'll tell you about certain prices and then that they care went up, so we ahd to meet with them to ask what changed and they apologized, said nothing did and changed it abck to the original price. They also didn't tell us moving in that they don't include ANY paper products and I had specifically asked those questions when we went in for interviews. She's moved in, she's settled in and she's a very difficult person to deal with, they've been doing the best they can and I hate to say this but it's been a burden off of our shoulders. The fountains is doing the best they can with her and that part we really appreciate. If things progressed to the point where she was not able to do things any more, because of how their levels of pricing change so specifically and easily we may have to move her to a nursing home over the fountains because the costs could be so exhorbitant.

swanhaven is a little further out then we'd like to travel...but...their system is different...you pay for your apt and pick the services that are needed NOW...services can be changed, more added, as needed...each apt has a full kitchen for those who like to cook...so you're only charged for the meals provided if you attend/eat in the community dining room...(some things to consider.

Overall, the facility is clean. The staff was somewhat professional. Maintenance orders are addressed promptly.

I did recommend the James for the following reasons: 1. The cleanliness. 2. The units are very nice. 3. The staff my family dealt with was very professional and easy to deal with. 4. The amenities such as outings, access to movies and other entertainment. The issues are as follows: 1. Charge to deliver meals. 2. No one to take residents to movies and other on site gatherings. 3. Someone from the system who oversaw renting the spaces called me and indicated that I should sign on because the spaces were running out. I later learned that not only were the spaces not running out, there were a few empty units. The person who called me was eager to get the space rented due to the receipt of a bonus. I paid for time we didn't use the unit to save the space (I believe the unit was empty 10 days before we were prepared to move in). The unit was very nice as was the person who signed us in ( not the same as the person who called to encourage us to move in before we were ready).

2 months into our lease they took the three meals a day that were agreed to in the lease down to 20 meals a month. They also stop serving hot breakfast 3 days out of the week and wanted to charge residence and additional $[fee removed] for every meal beyond 20 for the month. don't know if they had an ownership change or management change but the kitchen staff was cut from 8 down to 2. The hours were cut down for meals as well. Also long time staff were replaced.

Honestly, I am not happy with the facility and how it's run for the money they charge, but to be fair, the staff is always friendly. They need more staff. They never are there to let people in and they rarely answer the phones. Unprofessional.

I wouldn't recommend this place to others. I'm in the process of looking for a new place. My additional comment is that I'm looking forward to moving.

The James is a beautiful independent living facility and the apartments are really lovely. The food quality varies from ok to very good, with the norm towards the ok end. The activities are ok. They are pretty average and what you expect from most places. The front desk staff is polite, not friendly, but always polite. Maintenance is very responsive and very kind to the residents. Housekeeping is ok. Apartments are cleaned, floors mopped, toilets and bathrooms are cleaned and bedding is changed every two weeks. No dusting is done. Most places clean weekly. I go in once a week to dust, clean, remove garbage, etc. The residents are great caring people. The James caters to the independent lifestyle and does not have the resources in place for assisted living.

Management tends to be friendly to some and very unfriendly to others. Transportation seems to be an issue with residence who use a scooter. Conversations that should remain private are shared with other staff members and upon a request to repair a dining room light, manager took my note, did not say a word, turned her back on me and looked out her window, which in my world we call rude.

Needs more security, staff and better house keeping. We picked this community because of the cost, and it was close to me.

I like the friendliness of staff as well as the quality of care, it is excellent. Our families appreciate the opportunities for their loved ones to enjoy the variety of entertainment choices and chances to mingle with others.

My loved one overall likes the other residents there, and says they are very nice to her and the office staff is friendly. There is no staff in the evening, no instructions on the phone system for guests to gain entry, No "door tag" program for safety, in house physician is no longer accepting new patients, trash room is filthy and smell is offensive in the hall and elevator often. Also, the office staff is not good at returning calls, there is no emergency buttons available, and just call chords which do not help if fall is within building or in resident apartment or kitchen.

I toured this community and it was nice. It's clean, staff is friendly, it seemed like a great place. They did have a waiting list, so something to be aware of especially if you're looking for quick placement.

When we came for our tour they were in the middle of renovations so it was going to look very nice once they were all done. For us the apartments were too small and it was just not the right fit for what we were looking for.

There is something in the building my loved one is in that makes me itch every time I visit. The front desk people can be rude. It is just an okay place for my loved one. They community keeps putting off moving my loved one to the first floor due to them doing a bathroom remodel.

I did not feel like this was the right place for my loved one.
