Honestly, I am not happy with the facility and how it's run for the money they charge, but to be fair, the staff is always friendly. They need more staff. They never are there to let people in and they rarely answer the phones. Unprofessional.

The James is a beautiful independent living facility and the apartments are really lovely. The food quality varies from ok to very good, with the norm towards the ok end. The activities are ok. They are pretty average and what you expect from most places. The front desk staff is polite, not friendly, but always polite. Maintenance is very responsive and very kind to the residents. Housekeeping is ok. Apartments are cleaned, floors mopped, toilets and bathrooms are cleaned and bedding is changed every two weeks. No dusting is done. Most places clean weekly. I go in once a week to dust, clean, remove garbage, etc. The residents are great caring people. The James caters to the independent lifestyle and does not have the resources in place for assisted living.

Management tends to be friendly to some and very unfriendly to others. Transportation seems to be an issue with residence who use a scooter. Conversations that should remain private are shared with other staff members and upon a request to repair a dining room light, manager took my note, did not say a word, turned her back on me and looked out her window, which in my world we call rude.

I like the friendliness of staff as well as the quality of care, it is excellent. Our families appreciate the opportunities for their loved ones to enjoy the variety of entertainment choices and chances to mingle with others.

My loved one overall likes the other residents there, and says they are very nice to her and the office staff is friendly. There is no staff in the evening, no instructions on the phone system for guests to gain entry, No "door tag" program for safety, in house physician is no longer accepting new patients, trash room is filthy and smell is offensive in the hall and elevator often. Also, the office staff is not good at returning calls, there is no emergency buttons available, and just call chords which do not help if fall is within building or in resident apartment or kitchen.

I toured this community and it was nice. It's clean, staff is friendly, it seemed like a great place. They did have a waiting list, so something to be aware of especially if you're looking for quick placement.

When my mom first moved in everyone was very friendly and welcoming and really willing to help out.

Dirty carpet in dining room. Our carpet has not been cleaned since the new carpet was layer about 5 years ago. Also dirty laundry rooms. Never mopped.

I have lived here 17 years. We have got new carpet in the halls and dining room once about 5 years ago. But it has not been cleaned once. I live across from my laundry room it has not been cleaned for five weeks. (3rd Floor)

When we toured this facility, we found that it was very nice. However, my main concern was that this facility was not too budget friendly. We were also concerned that we would have had to pay extra for my loved one to receive meals.

Pleasant visit, but rooms we saw were small and we did not feel it was what we needed. For example, the bathrooms were not barrier free. Dining facility is small and serves for only one hour a day.

went on a tour today, it is within price range for Mom & I if we were to live together- need to really process if I really want to do this, also let Mom visit the complex with no pressure. the cottage/2-bedroom apartment is the choice & it would be hard!!

Nice, friendly and cozy, and clean. Draw backs no lunch or dinner. No walk in shower (need to step up, not good for mom). Nice walking area.

I did tour the property, however, the apts are small for my furniture.

When I moved my mother in, her apartment it never got cleaned from when the previous tenant moved out. I cleaned what I could. Management is mean, she actually yells and starts fights with the tenants. I have witnessed this. She has even yelled at my loved one. These poor seniors are paying [amount removed]for rent plus utilities and are supposed to have free internet. [name removed] the activity coordinator is the best part of Westhaven Manor! For she does an Amazing job getting the senior's out, she plans usually 3-4 activities a day and has a sign up sheet. Westhaven owns their own bus, she takes them to the bank, tiger games, to the market, out to eat, lots of places & lot of fun. Kudos to [name removed] she's Amazing we love her!

Oakhaven Manor is very independent. It is a high rise, about 6 stories tall and I was not the biggest fan of that set up. It was just not the right fit.

The apartments are not clean. The appearance of the place is rundown. The carpeting has spots all over it. I have four items for them to come and check, things like nails popping up, porches needing to be power washed - they're dirty with spiders all over them. When I moved in, there was feces on the bathroom wall and on the toilet clips. There's "bruising" all over the walls where the paint is being rubbed off. They don't have anyone to clean, and the apartments are not clean and not move-in ready. Initially people were nice, but there was a manager that was horrible. I don't know if they have to have geriatric trainings or whatnot, but that would be very helpful for management. But, that person is no longer here. I haven't heard much about the new manager, but she's very nice and personable and easy to talk with. We'll see how things go. They're having quite a bit of turnover and seem short-staffed. The maintenance staff is good, but it seems like there's no manager that's responsible for overall upkeep. I feel like the building is falling down around us. The food is many bad meals in a row. The activities are for children, not adults. The need to make sure they're doing things for adults. There aren't that many activities in general. They do have parties once a month, and those are nice to get together and see everybody. I think the money you pay is way more than what you get. The kitchens have a stove that you can't even time anything on or do anything with. It's missing a lot of important things that you should have on a stove. There's no microwave. It's not modern at all . This place is so small I can see the whole thing in once glance. I just feel it's overpriced. They should add a pool. That would go a long way in adding value.

We drove by this place, does not look like the pictures. Does not look like the units are in good condition.
