A Place for Mom has scored The Aspenwood Company with 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 173 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, The Aspenwood Company has 668 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
It was a great community when my loved one first moved in. Then they were then bought out and things changed. The fees went up drastically. It is a much bigger community than what my loved one needed as well. The community has an 8 pm curfew for the residents. I brought my loved one late and the staff was rude and lectured me about the time. She also locked me into the community. All visitors have to leave at 8 pm, no matter what. The food was served in Styrofoam containers to the residents.

We have had some concerns and have gone to management as we are not getting what we are paying for. They continue to tell us they are working We were told Memory care would get two options and they don't they are only given one option and is often fried foods with plastic utensils. They are left unsupervised when eating at all times. They only offer a small cup of water or small cup of punch each day. Feel like she is dehydrated most of the time. She has declined tremendously since being in there and she is medicated to the point where is almost keeping her asleep for about 23 hours a day or more.

Since being bought by Anthology things have gone from ok to so much worse. The outside paint has been chipping off. The sprinklers do no work in most parts while others water the parking lot 2-3 times a day. The ED and all staff have a serious problem at communication among themselves and absolutely none to the residents. It is a perfect case of right doesn't know what the left is doing. There are holes in the grass areas that they say they'll fill but haven't. They are all around the building. Could be so much better with the proper ED in place. There are clearly serious problems here. If it weren't for the Covid-19 virus we would move.

The director is very uncooperative. The services that are supposed to be delivered are very inconsistent. Overall, if I had an option, I would be moving my loved one. They put on a front at the initial visit including the food that was served, their friendliness, and openness towards both the residents and their family members. The director acted as if she would be approachable with any concerns but when we did approach her she was defensive and rude to us.

Don't pay for this facility to clean your parents room. Their room is constantly filthy and the facility did not even notice that my parents were COVERED in bed bugs. Then they did not offer to help with replacement expenses of furniture. If it takes 100 days (3months+) to have an infestation then I believe there is a problem here because my parents had a major infestation.

I would not recommend their Memory Care unit. Generally, a few staff members are good, the rest apathetic and sometimes asleep in the tv room while residents sit there in their chairs. The food sub par. The VPN is not professional. A close family member passed away there as a result of an illness that had gone undiagnosed until it was too late. Had the staff been more attentive to the noticeable decline, there might have been a chance for recovery. My family member deserved better.

I have been here over 3 weeks sitting with my sister... 3 of her aides she depends on GREATLY have resigned, yet the administrator, [name removed], INSISTS they are treated wonderfully, But... the good workers are poorly paid, overworked, and taken advantage of their dedication... Again, I have YET, been able to have a sit down with this man, [name removed], and obviously, bring avoided... Beautiful facility, no doubt! But very poor administration from upper management!!! I will continue to get to the bottom of this.... Medicare will be notified of Medicare laws broken!

I really liked this place and they used to take great care of my parents, Unfortunately, the management has really changed. Many staff have quit. The weekends are abyssmal. They hire temporary care staff. One temp care staff person had no idea how to transfer my parent from bed to wheelchair. My parent needs prompting and thank god I was in town because no food was brought to my parents room or anyone checked on them for god knows how long. Most residents live in fear of complaining or they will be asked to leave as several had.

The Village at Mapleshade should not be one ofyour considered places for your loved one. The advertise things they cannot provide and did to have a Medical Director at any time during our loved ones stay. The management would not take ownership of mistakes, medication mismanagement, and other issues such as not calling family when loved one fell and went to hospital. They constantly place blame on others and do not offer the things promised in their ads. Be wary of reviews - any company can post reviews on their on behalf. And even if they are legit, the bad ones are deleted. We moved our loved one, as did many other families. They did not try to get us to stay, as they knew they could not heal old wounds of dissection and lack of attention. The food is not good and aside from the facility itself, which is very nice, your loved one would be at risk.

When my loved one began having behaviors, admin gave us the wrong information on how to help him. They were adamant we had to provide 1 on 1 care or take him to a psych hospital to be treated. Unfortunately, because his dementia was advanced, he would be unable to sign himself in to a psych hospital. Admin did not know the rules that went in to admitting him to a psych hospital and we felt like we were backed in to a corner. We thought he was in a safe space with staff who were able to care for him, but they only wanted to do that when it was easy. They didn't use the resources they had for his best interest. Ultimately, we felt forced to pick him up one night, take him home, and care for him for his remaining 2 months. The nursing staff themselves were great with him and he had lots of activities. The space itself was safe and welcoming. The lack of support we were shown from admin was disheartening.

They are vicious and fake. They allowed my friend to fall several times and did not give her the attention they said they would even though we paid for it. Truly unless your loved one is able bodied then do not go there. You are on your own. Do not be fooled into paying for extra care because it is not available. The aids are personable but are never available. We paid $[removed] per month and she fell three times. It is a beautiful facility but take out care and it is an expensive small apartment.

Villages of South Hampton Buffalo Speedway location used pressure tactics on my 96 year old mother to sign a complicated 92 page lease while I was out of town. I have been handling her finances for 25 years. After suffering the impact of tropical storm Beryl, 7 days without power AND water at her current Independent Living facility, it was easy to entice her with talk about generators keeping the air conditioning, lights and water on, however, the way it was done was undermining and decieptful. My brother, wanting to help, took our mother there to check it out. The sales rep told her that they didn’t have a two bedroom apt for her at that moment but that if she gave them about [fee removed] for a memory care room (that she didn’t need or want) this would be what she needed to do to “jump” to the front of the waiting list. This created a dramatic sense of urgency for her to commit. She’s now locked into paying 2 months rent plus deposit [fee removed] for an apt she will never live in.

My loved one was previously a resident at Village on the Park Rogers and the experience at this facility was terrible for her. They transported my mom to the hospital three times in one day because their staff could not handle mom- they were obviously not trained as well as the staff at some of the other facilities are trained. I would never recommend Village on the Park Rogers.

Looks great. Staff turnover a real problem. Food is awful. And the staff steal. This is no place for Mom or Dad. My Dad is currently living there and is miserable. Terrible personal care. Hateful to the elderly. Staffing changes are constant. And they steal and take advantage of the elderly. Please pick your location carefully. This facility looks great, and they know how to sell their services. Beware. Go somewhere else..........

Complete and utter disappointment. We're leaving after 3 months. We would have left earlier if circumstances would have allowed. Some of the staff are very nice but staffing is short and most seem to be undertrained. We were told that pets are welcome but then learned that many of the staff are afraid of dogs and won't enter the room. This includes med techs and the housekeeper. This makes ensuring my parents get the meds they need almost impossible. The room was cleaned two times in three months and normally no one comes in the room to check on anyone as they are supposed to. Initially we had issues with the thermostat and couldn't control temp in the room. That took an act of congress to fix. I could go on and on but I'll just summarize by saying "one star. Do not recommend."
