A Place for Mom has scored The Aspenwood Company with 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 188 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, The Aspenwood Company has 715 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.3 out of 5.
The staff was excellent at keeping the family informed with what was going on and staying up to date with our loved ones progress. The meals and activities where all great, and my mothers room was kept clean. There could have been improvement with the interaction between hospice and the caregivers at the community.

Mom enjoys participating in the exercise class and occasionally goes to bible study. The staff are excellent. The only issue I have with this community is that the food does not taste good it is served late, there is not a good variety and you cannot cut or eat the meat.

My aunt has been here for 1 month and I have had outside caregivers coming in on a 24 hour basis to help my aunt because she had knee surgery just after moving in. Therefore, I can't give a true analysis of the staff just yet. This facility is very clean and always smells nice. Most of the staff is really friendly. There have been some issues with the staff coming up to her room in a timely manner when the pendant button is pushed, which is a concern and I have addressed this with management and they are working on this. We also had some issues with the attendant picking up dishes if my aunt eats in her room which I have also spoke with them about. We will see if that improves. They have many activities and entertainment for the people living there and my aunt loves the food.

I will say the positive thing is that when she was in the hospital the staff made visits to her cat as he cried a lot and made sure he had food. I would have to bring it down a notch because of 2 reasons: 1. Emergency Button System Their system is not working. When a resident presses the emergency button a light appears at the front desk but not audible alarm. Once the receptionist sees the lighted button she radios back to memory care to go to that room. Supposedly there is also a board in a work room in memory care, but most of the time there isn't anyone in the work room. 2. The food is like 1 or 2 stars. My mother in law is very picky, but according to her it's not good.

It's not a very cheery place. There was no nice music playing for the people and my biggest thing is they say they take care of people but they don't have anybody to take care of of someone with diabetes so to me they don't have a full Care service and I would not put my loved one here. A woman was asleep at the table with her head almost in her plate sitting there all by herself that was a sad situation to see I had brought my loved one with me and he was mortified that I might consider putting him in a place like that take better care of these people. OK they're humans not just a paycheck.

While the facility is great and the cadre of services offered is above average, execution is much left to be desired. Response by staff to concerns and issues is very slow.

Our mother was evaluated as a Level 4 person needing assistance. A nurse had come out to her house to evaluate her from The Village and told us that she was a Level 4. We thought she would get the care she needed. However, we did not realize that after she was there, there was only one person to the floor; maybe sometimes 2. There was not enough staff to tend to the patients on each floor. Mom did not receive the care that we were told she would have. She would tell us sometimes she had to wait maybe 30 minutes before someone would come to tend to her. Even at 102, mom had her full faculties; so when she told us she had to wait a long time for someone to come change her or bring her her meals, we knew she was right. Towards the end, mom had requested that we move her to another facility. Hindsight, maybe we should have placed her in a nursing home as opposed to an assisted living facility. Once she was there , she never left her room, except to be transported to a hospital ER.

It's been ok. A lot of turnover in staff it seems. Not familiar with other faculties so I would guess it's similar to others. I'm neutral toward a recommendation. It appears they did not raise pricing for next year so that's a plus

They were able to provide my mom care when she couldn't do it herself. I am grateful that they saved my mom's life. That said, we moved her out after six months because of the condition of the food and environment. The staff were fabulous, but the living conditions weren't what she was hoping for.

The care staff is really great. They care a lot about the residents and have their best interests in mind. The issue with the other staff is that the communication between staff and between the families could be more organized. Timelines are often a bit fuzzy unless the directors of nursing are involved. I would give [names removed], who lead the nursing team, 5 stars each. They've been wonderful and really get things done when I push for them.

Meals are paid for regardless if a resident eats a a meal at the facility. Would be more cost effective for residents to only be charged for the meals that are eaten. Communication can be lacking. Several times we have left voice messages and texts for the head nurse but have not received timely responses.

This is beautiful facility. But we found it’s difficult to get things done to our standards. Have to ask for things to be done that should be done on a regular basis. Having said that, my Mom has not tried to take part in any activities. The residence are not friendly. She has been sick off and on since she moved in.(3 months ago) This has been a difficult decision to put mom in an assisted living facility.

There were multiple weeks in which her room was not cleaned. The would continually have agency nurses and aids in which would not administer her medication timely or miss days. The would lose her eye drops which is critical for her eyesight. The food was not great. Several night a sandwich or hot dogs. For the price she was paying weekly. The food should have been much better.

I would say the memory care staff was the best of the best. Always kind and good to communicate. They worked very well with Hospice when it was time to bring them in. The facility is in a great location. The management changes like the wind and the transition is painful with little communication. I hear it's the same for most assisted living communities. I would recommend this facility for the floor staff alone. They were awesome!

The facility is nice. I find they do not clean my dad's room very well every time. The staff are hit and miss. Some are great. Others shouldn't be working there. My dad has used the call button for help and waited up to 45 minutes for someone to come. They also charge very highly. Even when my dad has gotten better and doesn't need as much help, they did not adjust his rates to a lower level of care. The food is not good. My dad went from 210 to 185 while there. He's 6'1" so he's rail thin. Just this past weekend I discovered things have been stolen from his room. Honestly I need to move him but it's so hard on him and now he has made friends, I hate to move him from them.

My parents loved this place in the beginning. It’s lovely, original manager years ago was awesome. Activity director is great and loved by many, she is always upbeat and giving hugs to guests as well as residents . Lots of activities. Food is so so but has its good days, aids come and go but there were a couple awesome ones but there is usually a shortage. Current mgm is barely seen and if you do, is not pleasant but condescending to guests and residents. Have seen residents in wheelchairs pushing themselves back to their room from meals while mgm just watched, dining room help would assist. Nurse sent my family member to hospital and told family after the fact, but we found our parent after calling 911 operator and close hospitals. Nurse is on shift but not full time. They did kept them safe during Covid. Our parents were removed for a better place. If considering here, ask a lot of questions. Had several rate increases during a year staying it for for aids.
