It's only been a week....too early to evaluate

I had to move my brother into the area on very short notice and moved him into The Residence on a respite stay basis, to allow time to let him see his options. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated rapidly, and other than the hospital, he never saw another option. The places I had a chance to look at in my compressed window of time were pretty comparable on a quick look. I choose Residence because it seemed less fro fro-y for a male. I also liked the orientation program they had to help new residence get acquainted. The time there was chaotic due to his health issues and lack of time to get his local health care team established. The staff at the Residence were very supportive throughout the time. The few residents we got to know seemed content there. Although my brother did not have the opportunity to participate in anything, it seemed like there was a good variety of activities, including a theater complete with popcorn machine. Due to our unusual circumstances, I don't know if the issues we encountered are normal or not. It is possible my brother needs would have been better met in a nursing home, but his time was so brief, we didn't have a chance to explore that option. I believe the staff did try hard to do their best. But my brother complained about poor response time when he called for assistance, and I did experience delayed responses a couple of times myself. Access to the building after 6:30 is challenging. I waited up to 30 minutes for someone to answer the phone to let me in. I understand they have rounds to do, and staffing at night is minimal, but as I work during the day, I frequently got there after hours, so an easier way to contact someone to open the door would have been nice. They did bend over backwards to help me get my brother situated when he came in. Most people were always pleasant and warm. My brother did feel that some of his issues were due to people who didn't speak English as their native tongue. Most seemed to speak well enough in my opinion. I do think in better circumstances The Residence on Greenway may have been a place for my brother would have been comfortable, and would have enjoyed many aspects of it.

The facility was very nice but was not affordable.

The food is pretty good, it's a three, they have choices, so if they don't like what they are having they can always order something else. They don't have enough staff, they need at least two more people. The response time is supposed to be seven minutes, and has been 10-20 at times. The aide has walked away from her in the bathroom and left her alone, which is concerning. The nursing staff is useless. The communication is not good. The director has corrected some of the things that have been brought to her attention. The aids are wonderful they are very caring and very sweet, the nurses are nice but they don't do anything but hand out medications. Overall I am fairly pleased, the atmosphere is great, they have a lot of things to do and the place is pretty nice. The apartments come furnished. We had to buy a bed, but you can bring in your own things or use theirs.

We toured this place while looking for options for Mom. It seemed nice during the tour, and the staff were friendly, but the atmosphere was just not right for Mom. It was too big, and I knew she would not be comfortable moving around the place, which would keep her from participating in activities.

It is clean and secure. Food is improving since they hired new people. The nurse and drug order issues are a mess right now. some aides are great and some are not. Mom still likes it though. They raised her rent/care in January when she moved in in may last year and we were not happy about it as the original owners took back ownership.

They significantly increases care costs while we were there, quality of care was hit or miss. Turnover was high so it felt very much like they were constantly getting to know my grandmother again and again. There were quite a few times while she was on hospice they never communicated properly with the hospice team about reordering meds so things took longer to come in. Dining was very inconsistent, food was often not cooked well and menus often didn't match what they actually had as options. Administrative staff (ED, DON, etc) were not very responsive to questions or when we asked questions about care said they would look into it and never came back with answer even after following up multiple times. The building is beautiful but it feels empty and the activities were hit or miss. They went through multiple activities directors and some were better than others. As my grandmother got less mobile, she was often forgotten rather than invited or assisted in getting to programs (as was mentioned she needed in her care plan).

They need improvement on safety!! My father was robbed of money, credit cards checks, and his identity.

The only thing great about that facility is [name removed], the director. Food..... 4 Everything else would rate a 2 or 3. As you can tell we did not have a good experience. No caring/ compassion or patience from most of caregivers including director of memory care. We terminated after my husband was in their care for a week then to the hospital for 10 days then rehab. Can not recommend this facility to anyone that wants their loved one to be in a caring environment.

We have had ups and downs. Honestly, I'm not sure I could recommend it for the Bridges program. I'm sure that the INDEPENDENT LIVING is acceptable..

The community is very nice. It just wasn't the right place for my aunt. She was very unhappy there.

I don't think they were equipped to handle post surgery patients that needed hands in care every couple/few hours They seemed very short staffed according to how long it took for aides to get to mom's room. She did not enjoy the food but I don't have first hand experience. The onsite physical therapy was helpful and quality therapists. Mom was there after release from hospital knee surgery. The facility was geared towards residents who don't need much assistance. In hindsight we should have chosen a different place but my mom wanted to stay there because the rooms were newer (against my advice).

I needed to find a place for my mom in a short period of time and you made that possible by give me several places to visit and setting up the appointment

The restaurant and food services are and were poor. Long wait time. Overall long wait time, and quality of food was poor and often overcooked, cold or lukewarm warm. The experience and quality of the food and beverage service did not meet the expectations of what the establishment marketed nor was it a reflection of the value for the price. True healthy options were not available. The servers were nice and pleasant but they always took a long time. It seems they are not trained in restaurant customer service. The property needs an upgrade the paved entrance ways had pot holes and were often a safety hazard. The staff is pleasant and friendly and the activities manager was a big hit with my Mom and her peers. There is room for improvement and for the monthly price the amenities need upgrading and the food quality and service needs an overdue overhaul.

The facility itself is beautiful. The marketing person we met with was not completely transparent with all of the requirements for her facility. It doesn’t matter who your insurance is with for medications, you have no choice but to use the pharmacy they say you have to. And you can always only purchase a 30 day supply at a time. My Mom and I were not told this until after she was moving in. We were told that we had to send all of her prescriptions to their pharmacy to be repackaged in some kind of cassette. By only purchasing a 30 day supply of the medications she looses the discount she was getting when purchasing a 90 day supply. It has been a rough transition. She is not happy and is giving them a hard time about everything. I don’t know if she is going to stay there past 90 days. She has it in her head that she agreed to them to stay 90 days but that is not true.

The summit is a very nice place. The staff are very kind. The food is adequate. The women seem to have cliques. Lots of activities. At your service is good but expensive. I hope to have a lot more positive feedback in the future

Improve on communication with the medical staff. Overall I do like the way the staff works as a team and tries to work with the residents to make sure they get involved. It's still a work in progress for me

Facility was clean and inviting. The food was usually very good. Administrative staff was professional and friendly. However, some attending staff were slow to respond and some were less than professional.

The staff all need to be trained as far as medical emergencies. The room is a decent size my dad says the meals are decent.

This was hard for me to rate. The bottom line is my mother was in memory care and she was difficult. I discovered that the staff really didn't know how to redirect dementia patients and my mother wasn't treated with kindness. I felt sometimes the staff actually made her behavior worse by the things they said to her. Administrators acted like they cared, but the med techs, nurse practitioner, and the manager of memory care would tell me all the time what behaviors from my mother would get her kicked out of the facility. It was a very stressful time for me. I felt like they couldn't wait to kick her out. My mother is at [community removed] now. She is still difficult but staff works together with the director and nurse manager to come up with ways to redirect my mother and reduce her agitation. She is treated with respect and understanding by staff and often is helpful in getting my mother's cooperation. In addition, [community removed] is less expensive than Arbor Terrace.
