Keep looking place is like a prison

Saving money so I can get out, friendly staff but watching TNF and decided to go out for 1 last smoke none of the doors to access anywhere on the property were accessible with out a key. Nice staff but high turnover, profit driven, Quality of food is hit or miss. Should have kept looking, residents have a lot of mental issues sad to see. they do a good job marketing the place but don't get fooled!

They had just come out of COVID quarantine protocols when we went to tour. Most of the residents were in their rooms. There wasn't much engagement with other residents. The community encouraged a lot of time for the residents in their rooms. The community had a nice outdoor area for the residents to go to, and they said the would take residents to outings.

Disappointed

Part of the reason my ratings are on the lower side is because she was robbed in the first week she was here. She had jewelry taken and that included her wedding ring of 50 years. I filed a complaint and was ignored. The manager finally answered and said he was not going to do anything about it and was not willing to let the employee go. Then he hung up on me. He then quit 2 weeks later and we don't know who the manager is now. No one has followed up with me. We requested that this employee not be in her room and he is still going in there. I have been very disappointed. I filed a police report as well and nothing has been done. I would commend the place other than this experience.

I Would Not Recommend Them

I would recommend you not go to Quail Ridge for a place to live for your loved one. The attentiveness of the staff and hands on care didn't happen for my loved one since they have been here. The staff wasn't as informed or trained as they could be. They were hesitant to reach out to management with any questions or concerns. The staff were told to not reach out to management on the weekends unless it was a dire emergency, and this was left to their discretion. The community was very accommodating to the resident's requests for meals and this assisted my loved one with their meal choices.

Things to Consider

They're not assisted living. They say that they are. But they're not. My loved one was constantly calling EMTs because Madison Meadows wasn't able to help her up when she fell. They said it was going to be a $5 charge to have her food brought to her room. The website says they have chef prepared meals, but the food is horrible. It's all out of a can / processed, and if you have dietary restrictions, it's terrible. The people who live there seem friendly. But the lady at the office is not. She even hung up on me one time. They also said they would provide transportation to medical appointments and to the chapel, and they weren't doing that either. So if you're not independent, then you shouldn't be there. It's nice that the apartments have outside entrances. There's a pool, a rec room, a salon, a library. Activities are pretty good. It has potential. But I think it has poor management right now. They also assured me there was a nurse they were paying hourly to help her with dressing, showering, etc. And they weren't' doing that either. I wouldn't send anybody there. She's also been in and out of the hospital while she's lived there, and they're still charging her rent.

Very bad experience so far

I would tell others that their patient hygiene is very poor, my loved one hardly brushes their teeth unless I go in to help. They also do not take very good skin care, my loved one has got a very bad sore that has continually gotten worse. I find the staff hiding out a lot instead of taking care of the residents so they are out wandering a lot and taking peoples things. They have had my loved ones medicine a mess ever since we got here. It has not been a very good experience.

Pretty building, adequate care, poor management.

This is a new facility that opened in the fall of 2019. After being open for 9 months it has 32 residents in a facility that holds 60 people. The building is very attractive. The direct care is adequate but lacking in structure and supervision. The facility is lacking leadership, communication between staff members is poor and with families is nearly non-existent. I have found the resident clinical oversight to be incompetent. The clinical director stated her biggest challenge was to lower families' expectations. I would strongly recommend AGAINST placing a loved one in this facility.

Shock!

The communication between staff members in this facility is very poor. there does not seem to be a report system between the staff when there is a problem with the patient. You can speak to different staff members everyday regarding the same problem and and they act as though they have never heard about it. The general care has also declined in regard to hygiene. There is no respect for the resident's belongings. They are lost, they are borrowed, clothes are on the closet floor instead of in laundry baskets. It is a common thing to see other residents with your family member's clothing or accessories. It is painful to go through this issues and when you bring them to the attention of the staff they promise they will look into it with no results in the end.

Madison Meadows is a small community. The facility was previously a school for deaf and or blind children. It was refurbished into the senior care facility it is today. There is evidence that not a lot of money was put into the refurbishing or maintenance on the facility has been lax as patches in walls, etc. are very evident. The seniors that live there seem to like it, and the place is a friendly environment. One of the selling points of the facility is that three meals a day are included in the rent. The meals have few options, sort of like school lunches where your selections are few and it is take it or leave it. I did not sample the food so I cannot comment on the quality. Only the two bedroom units have washer/dryers in them, the rest share a common laundromat. As this is a one story facility, it could be quite a walk from your apartment. When I was visiting, only one person was in the laundry room, which has about six washers and six dryers. They do have an activities director who seems to work very hard at getting people to participate in some of the activities. I did not get a good vibe from this place, but that might be just me.

A GREAT LIFESTYLE

I have called the Las Brisas facility home for more than six years. I love the life style provided here. Meals and service are generally more than adequate. House cleaning services are sufficient when help is available to management Many activities are offered every day. No one is required to do anything but the activities are available. Games and events are planned every day. Bingo is played four days each week for a very nominal fee, poker and blackjack are available for those interested, Mexican train dominoes are played every week, a visit for lunch at area restaurant or picnic and local tours are scheduled weekly. Movies in the activity room several times a week. Bocce ball is played several times a week, balloon volley ball is played weekly. These and many more events and activities are scheduled each month. The Human Resources Director holds monthly meetings with all interested residents to get input about activities of interest. Every effort is extended to satisfy desires. A great life style.

staff member bullies individuals when it comes to rent payment, threating action and demanding that you pay when you can't.

I did not feel this community was a good fit for my husband. Most of the residents I saw were low functioning, slumped over in their wheelchairs, and nonsocial. It seemed to me to be only a memory care community with just 2/3 occupancy.

useless home

my wife and I live here and the staff, is not that friendly, and even though they say they are pet friendly, but our dog barks when people walk by and the neighbors are getting pissed. Our dog is friendly and the cleaning lady will not come in unless we hold her or we put outside. They have people living here that takes your clothes out of the dryer wet or dry

Nope. Small, old and not what we were looking for. Not enough activities and it didn't have full kitchens.

Cautious

Beware. This facility writes down on daily log they are doing tasks for loved ones that never happen. Follow up ...follow up ...follow up. Staffing is not good and senior management doesn’t want to be bothered. You as a family member are the problem not the staff. If your loved one is in the beginning stages of dimentia find another facility. Serious problem with residents wandering and going into other residents rooms. Tell you that they provide snacks nightly but they only provide if your out by the main lobby residents in rooms never given any. They have so many patients with major health issues and not staffed to handle. If your loved one can get around they are left alone the staff has no time for them and they get lost. Be very careful it is known in the industry that this facility is having major issues. I have never seen rude nursing staff. But you will find it here. You can ask question and they won’t even look at you and talk to you. I hate to generalize but some of the nursing staff ...you are better off not to ask I get that they are understaffed and they are busy. It feels like most of the staff including the director have been in the industry and really hate being in the service industry and think that a family member advocating for their loved one is a bad thing. Their customer service once you sign up goes down 100%. I actually was told most family members don’t want to be bothered and because I did I was the problem. FIND ANOTHER FACILITY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE. I wish their had been reviews when I went here it would have made me stop. The truth is there are problems with all of these facilities but how they handle them makes a difference

Very disappointed with staff to resident ratio

I was very disappointed with this facility. The state of Florida requires a 1:10 ratio for staff to residents. But I feel like that should not be the case for residents with Lewy Body Dementia. The care ratio should be more along the lines of 1:5. There just was not enough staff to go around for all of the residents. I had complained numerous times about my Husband not getting proper care. In his room, they had a motion alarm. Anytime he got out of bed the alarm would go off and the staff would check on him. The only bad thing is, the staff had been so busy that my Husband had fallen and was laying on the floor for quite some time before anyone noticed. I asked the staff to put cameras up so even if they couldn't get to him at that moment, they would have a visual of what's going on. There was just a complete lack of attention. Don't get me wrong, this facility is nice and brand new. They had the right ideas. All of the staff members were nice, caring, and are sensitive to the resident's conditions. I recommend this facility but be cautious about the staff to resident ratio if your loved one has Lewy Body Dementia.

Lots of promises, but it turns out much different

My good friend came to live there, and it sounded so nice with the great food and beautiful surroundings. But it sounded much better than it was! From "less than edible" meals (used over and over again), to the housekeeping, to the management...she never got the services that she was promised. Rates would go up yearly, food selection and presentation was poor, unhelpful management who really didn't seem to care....we moved her out within a year! What a sad way to live life... with management and residents who just don't care anymore. A person that doesn't want to cause any trouble get completely forgotten!

Very Disappointed

It started out great, they were really friendly and I was excited to get my mom in there. But we have run into some problems. The managers have been unresponsive to my e-mail and do not want to address what is going on - not so friendly once the paperwork is signed! Mom is not happy with the food. Many times it does not taste good and they frequently run out of items so the variety is not there. It also takes a very long time, sometimes over an hour, to serve everyone. More trained staff might help. The housekeeping is not the greatest. They do not appear to dust or mop the floors with clean water. One week the bathroom sink was not even cleaned. They appear to allow anyone to move in just to fill the place up. A manager told me that someone is "lonely and has dementia". I do not think this property is appropriate for people with dementia.
