My mother recently moved into Summerfield Estates after a stroke. It was pretty rocky at first, but she seems to have settled into a routine and enjoys the meals and sharing with other senior citizens. Although told by the 24/7 managers that she would at first have meals with the "ambassadors" to help make her feel more comfortable and welcome, this never happened despite my repeated phone calls and direct conversations with the managers. Finally, I realized that the "Sunshine Company" that owns Summerfield evidently trains their staff to smile and nod while saying "Yes, that's what is happening," when it completely is not. Once I accepted that and no longer talk to the managers, things have progressed nicely. However, she has been there 3 weeks, my mother has never once met the activity director and spends her time in her room alone when not at meals.

Yuma doesn't have much to choose from. It is what it is. It's not the best place in the world but it is okay. They have a fair variety of activities but could use more exercise. There is a lot of sitting around. They made promises that they couldn't keep. They promised a discount. I did not get a discount at all. There is only one elevator here with 3 levels. This place seems like a sales car lot that only wants your money.

Most of the staff in the dining room is friendly, and the people that clean your rooms are friendly. There are some exceptions, but most the people there are nice and friendly. There are some definite areas for improvement. For one, the food is horrible. Second, in general the place is just not that clean.

This place was not bad. Looks like a decent menu. All meals included. She showed me a 1 bedroom unit, 570 sq. ft. for 1899.00. Personal laundering would be extra. One time community fee equal to 1 month rent. Not a bad area. Kind of far from where I live.
