Filthy place. Lazy, unkind, crude, staff, and abysmal management. This is the worst place of this type that I have seen. Horrid food as well. Any place would be better than this one. I feel so sorry for my relative being here and that will be fixed very soon.

We thought the value of the community was terrible, we would not recommend this community to anyone. Their laundry service was terrible, our loved one had brand new clothes and they destroyed all of her clothes within a months time. They have no control over their patients on the memory care floor, they let the patients room and they would go into other rooms and destroy.

This is this only job I have ever worked that I have had to go through so much trouble to get paid. It is now January 2021 and I started officially at the end of October 2020. The reason I am leaving review is because I feel I am being retaliated against for quitting. I am now in a bind with my school because I counted on that money to pay for this spring semester. I hope everyone else has a better experience.

The staff is limited, they need more staff. My loved one having to wait for assistance for 45 minutes wasn't a good thing, and more than once. The staff was upfront and friendly from management down to the caregivers. They just don't have enough staff.

If your parents require more observation other than sitting in a chair watching TV this is not the place to put your parents. The food they serve is like cafeteria food, nothing special, and the rooms are about average.

During the intake interview, they do not tell you all the different things you will get charged for. They nickel and dime you to death and we did not have any type of heads up. They also change prices on you without any type of notification and you are not given a copy of the care plan unless you request it. From a billing perspective, our bill was wrong 5 months in a row. I went to go clean out our loved ones room and they were filthy, no one was coming in to clean or do their laundry as they were supposed to. I would tell people to never take their loved ones to Sunrise of Naperville.

Extremely poor management. Food quality is poor. No attempts to improve either. Corporate equally unresponsive.

I think others should know that if you need care to go to the bathroom every 1-2 hours, this is not the place. If you are capable to just needing a place to survive by yourself, it is fine. My mother would constantly call for help to go to the bathroom and they would not help her. I have nothing good to say about this facility. If you love your parent, this is not the place to send them. They have a tremendous turnover rate here with staff members. Most of the help here do not speak English.

I would want people to know when looking into Sunrise of Staten Island that the management and staff does everything they can to get the most money out of you. They are not to be trusted. They gave me information when we signed up and it changed dramatically after we got there in terms of pricing. They try to find different ways to get more money out of you. I would not recommend.

My mother has lived in Sunrise Memory Care for almost two years. There have always been small issues, and phone calls not return, but able to get a response because I visited her every other day and I believe her daily care needs were met. With the VIRUS lockdown, I cannot confirm that, too many things that have been dropped to list here and as I tried to follow up, at times told I was micromanaging or when I questioned, I was making team feel inadequate . They are short staffed, with activities canceled, and no volunteers to help. In frustrating conversation with Director, informed no budget for additional staff, and all concerns were dismissed. Communications to corporate passed on to Region Director without courtesy to acknowledge receipt. If leadership cares, they do not show it - these feelings felt by other family members I have spoken with. My mom losing more of her communication skills during this time, the isolation and lack of activity, or part of the journey, I will never know. I do know, there are good people that work there and take care of my mom on a daily basis. They are asked to spread themselves in so many areas. I know we will not move and I pray every day for my mom's wonderful care staff and their families, and that they take good care of my mom, but with all the frustrations and lack of caring with their leadership - I would definitely not recommend Sunrise of Frisco.

We really felt like the ball was dropped with my mother's care when she first moved in because of a change of hands on the management team. As a result of this, we think she really missed out on a lot of the care that she should have gotten. The community itself was spotless and the staff was very friendly. We didn't think the games and activities they were offering were appropriate for some of the residents. When my mother first moved in, they did not have an activities director on staff. We thought Sunrise Of Randolph was much too expensive, although my mother's apartment was beautiful. We really expected more from the community and staff, especially with regard to how engaged they were with her.

They gave me a price and they kept changing it on me. The bill was a lot more almost double what was quoted to us. I am still dealing with them about this dispute. I am not happy about the experience. I am not sure of what the care was like when my sister was there since the community was closed for the quarantine. I believe she was well cared for, the care staff seemed nice. I was able to facetime with her which was nice.

The most horrible experience when dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer's. I was power of attorney of my aunt and they allowed someone to take her out of the facility without my knowledge. That totally ruined things. I looked to them for help and in return they allowed another family member to take my aunt out of the facility, to a lawyer's office to change the power of attorney, and moved her out of Sunrise without my knowledge.

Heartbreaking Observation-SAD! I recently visited a relative at Sunrise of Fair Oaks,VA - Memory Unit and I was sicken by the way they treat the elderly-without a voice. Shoving food in their mouths, wiping their faces so roughly and caregivers laughing at them. The place stinks with a foul smell and residents were walking around with wet clothes from not being changed. Staff just sit residents in front of the TV and chat with each other. I can't imagine treating a dog the way they treat People that live there. Stay Away-Do Not Recommend this facility

if i could give the administration 0 stars i would. Staff is somewhat nice. Receptionist not so much, and administration cold and not caring. They are all about the $, and business. They are all business, not caring for feelings or comfort of the elderly. Could not wait to get my Granfather out of there!

This assisted living of Old Tappan is a reminder of how old closed nursing homes were run. There are No activities of substance. a very rude and non caring staff-which is understaffed . The premise at 7 30 is everyone quiet in your rooms. -it seems liked many are sedated. Unlike other senior living communities . there is like Age is Only a number. Age is to be respected Run by AIDES ONLY and some woman at the desk The director is very rude , at times very disrespectful We had our rlative loved one there and came home for a show and dinner -it was after 8 PM and a medication aide was angry that it was LATE and had to let us IN . it is home. There are NO activities of substance one aide [name removed] is so harsh with women .. angry and cannot even speak to any topic of interest. again rude the key aide giver has no grasp . and cannot deal with anyting this is NOT her way or the [name removed]'s way the director YOU never hear laughter .. angry Nursing is unheard ...the medical Staff a Dr. [name removed] is not an advocate of Seniors and Wellness ..so it is Best to Go to our own doctor We will consider transferring Aging is not about being an OLD person in FEAR or keep quiet LIfe is to be Lived The Director nor staff accommodate that Gift .

$3,011.00. Closer to 270 but still one way traffic pattern. Easier for girls to visit grandma. More expensive, add on costs bring it closer to $5,000.00/month. Visited on Saturday and told I would receive a call back on Monday. Today is Wednesday and still no follow up. VERY CONCERNING.

Our family experience at Sunrise of Old Tappan was tragic as well as met with hostility, disrespect and denial of dignity and medical care. Under the direction of [name removed] and reporting concerns of negligence -for example not allowing my father to have hearing aids or go out to eye specialist with a Sunrise MD supporting such senile of care . and expressing concern [name removed] retaliated against me for such advocacy for my poor 93 year old father with a Law suit against me. I am a clinician and in health care and having worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering IN NYC i come with experience and compassion Her methods of hostility to include yelling. slamming down phones when merely asking for help for my parents was a complete shock-as if aging parents is not sad enough , her treatment caused such pain and stress to the point of fear-which was termed also by my parents My mother had advanced lung disease which was very hard for her she was left without clinical care and once I was able to over ride the complaints to NOT to take her to the hospital by the [name removed] and Her nurse .. EMS in town were so helpful and took my mother to Valley hospital for a week stay saving her life Sunrise the day of Admission with [name removed] and a [name removed] both financial . stated I had no right to da that Well I do believe all have a right to LIFE the next time .. the nurse and MD along with the eldest son stated NO medical care wait Such wait yielded my mother to end up in ICU and she died 10 days later My father is not being isolated and denied socialization ..after losing his wife of 63 years the STAFF is short staffed during evening there are NO LPN or Nurses for care to supervise and aids have very often yelled at my father as well as me for merely asking as he is Profoundly hard of hearing .. can you help him translate demented Your father cannot hear sick of this were many comment s There were two very kind aids in evening and thank God for them . they tried but fear of Job etc could only allow so much Comments of " we are not here to protect your father MY job is to protect Sunrise by lead care provider under Ms Varnum was so fearing As [name removed] Varnum continues to deny or attempt to deny my right of freedom o speech She also threatened that I am not allowed to review . IF my father is not protected from her and the eldest son he will succumb to this in his loss He is loving kind and denied any amount of love .. Ms varnum is perhaps the most hostile and abusive person i have met in over 36 years in health care. I do not recommend this assisted living there are other sunrise and assisted living that actually do so much to respect seniors i.e. Upper Saddle river . so very kind even they did not get my father 's tech corrected so that the MDHoinkus and [name removed] have him on a baby food diet Yet when I visited i made soft chicken soup and high protein .. This is so very sad and threatening

Dirty bathrooms, rotten bananas on the breakfast bar, and priciest of all our choices. Salesperson did not know where rooms were & took us in several circles. She had to look up all pricing (we did the math before she did). Staff, sadly,looked resigned to a life term in prison.
