Sunrise Senior Living

We did not have a good tour experience at Stratford Court of Boca Pointe. Just driving up to the facility, it is a long distance to walk from your car to the building. It was extremely crowded because they were taking residents on a bus ride so it was hard to maneuver around. We walked in and there was no receptionist at the front desk even though we had an appointment. We waited around a few minutes and from just looking around at the main lobby it looked like a big mix of people who needed a lot of care and people who did not need any care - that was no appealing to us. We decided it was not going to be a good fit so we left, when we left there was still no one at the front desk.

This place is a total disaster. They describe themselves as a "skilled nursing" facility. When my mother checked in we discovered they only had a nursing aide on duty who wasn't even authorized to give prescribed meds. Food was ghastly, no bathroom nearby and staff yelling at patients. Don't believe ANY of the glowing reviews of this dump. I wouldn't put my dog here let alone a person I love!

Our family is extremely disappointed in this community, they do not follow though with anything they have to say and we would not recommend them to other families

The community has no staff at night. Two care managers for 58 residents. No back up to answer the general number from 11 to 7 am. They need to train staff. The insensitivity to a blind resident is nothing short of outrageous. The wait staff is pleasant and accommodating but the staff is so rushed they cannot do anything but tell the resident the care managers have 28 other residents. The dining staff is pleasant. The night care managers are overwhelmed by their responsibilities and tell the residents they have not time for them. Consequently my loved one sits in a urine soaked bed two to three times a week.

This place is super expensive and they only appear to be nice when they are trying to hook you in. Also, the front desk person is super unfriendly. My mother left her glasses and a footrest for her wheelchair behind when we moved her out. I called about them for 3 weeks and never got a return phone call. Finally, a friend went to the facility to pick them up for me and was given the wrong glasses.

I work here through an outside agency hired to be a residents one on one care and someone came in her room and stole my air pod charger! Just be careful when you send your loved one’s here if they stole from me they will definitely steal from them!!

My parents have been there for 2.5 years. The staff that takes care of my parents seem fine, my parents haven't had a lot of complaints about them. However, the management is terrible. They are extremely unresponsive to messages, and will turn a simple request into a months-long drama that most often results in them saying "no" to whatever you ask for. The maintenance guy has been rude since day one. I've told the executive director how disappointed I was in how something was handled and he completely ignored it. The van is very rarely available The communication between staff members is poor, and like I mentioned their communication with family is lacking, too. I wish I had chosen a different place for my parents.

During my father's brief stay he was left alone for hours and it sometimes took more than 20 minutes to get someone to open the door to see him. After getting him out, it is taking a threat of a lawsuit to get a refund on his prepayment . Even now it was sent to the wrong address and am still waiting. Save yourself some grief and find another place for your loved one.

If they would actually follow the plan of care, we would have felt like we could have allowed her stay at the facility. We put our mother in the facility and took her home a month later. Her hearing aids were almost never charged and usually left out of her ears. She almost never smelled clean. Food was on a menu, but very often was not available. Many of the care managers were contract employees. The care plan was not followed. Dirty gloves were left laying around the room, and once a bloody bandage. My wife was at the facility every day and most days she went twice to make sure she was given proper care. She often ended up washing her or shampooing her hair. At least 3 times no one took her to a meal. She fell out of bed 4 times.

The staff in the memory unit was kind. It was an awful experience for my loved one. They were not given their medication, and the head nurse was terrible. It was very expensive. I would never send my loved one here. They were not being supervised, and they always seemed to be short-staffed.

While our loved one was a resident here the upper management all left and you could see how unhappy the employees were. The place was rudderless, the aids were slower then slow with response times and when they did respond they would express their dislikes for the other aids. It was a terrible experience.

There is not enough staff to take care of residents, leaving them to fend for themselves. They lose their clothes, don’t do laundry for days and had my residents’ dirty clothes left in the shower. It takes them way too long to respond to a residents call, or end up never coming. They lie about incidents with residents because they think they’re too old and senile to remember or care. A joke of a place that needs to shut down they aren’t helping anyone.

They were severely understaffed and could not provide the services that we needed. The employees that did show up got overworked and the quality of care was not good. I had to take my loved one out and am caring for her myself. I would not recommend Sunrise of Leawood to others.

It was horrible. They accused my loved one of striking an aid and threw him out. Put him in a psyche ward in a hospital. I was out of the country. I would not recommend this to anyone. They refused me a copy of incident report.

Our mother is in memory care at sunrise granite run. There is not enough help for the 30 people currently there. She is left alone most of the day so we hired our own caregiver to spend some time with her . She also helps with taking my mother to the bathroom. They are left many , many, hours without being brought to the bathroom. The facility is filthy dirty and the people are dirty. Regular washing is not being done and showers are rarely done.

When she went in there we were aware she had some health issues, but she was there just there just six or seven weeks and they sent her home with Hospice. Overall did not have a great experience and would not recommend Sunrise of Annapolis to others or friends.

My father has been a resident of the Battery Park City for about a year. While the apartment is nice, the dining room food is pretty terrible. I’m not sure whether the problem is due to bad recipes, bad provision, cooks who can’t, or a combination thereof, but the result is food swimming in mayonnaise, shimmering with grease, overcooked, over-salted, just crappy. During a recent visit, my father explained that he often skips meals because he can’t stomach most of the food - by the way, his stomach is fine, and is not a picky eater. I am quite concerned that he was consistently in danger of malnourishment. Suggestions/complaints seem to be ignored. Disgraceful.

No one should be treated like they treated our mom. Left her heart pills sitting around in her room and never seemed to have her oxygen charged or on the correct level. These are life threatening issues. When we met with the staff about these issues they said we were expecting perfection. These are skills that should be administered with the up importance with no room for error. IN her care plan showers were scheduled for 2 days a week which were very infrequent. The most uncaring staff with absolutely no response to our issues. As soon as we gave notice the care got worse, which I didn't think was possible. VERY SAD.

A family member was seen hitting, cursing at and yelling at a team member on Mother's Day in front of team members, residents, families and children. Nothing was done about this. One family member constantly yells at, threatens and embarrasses team members and nothing is ever done about it. Team members are NOT protected at Sunrise Senior Living of East Meadow.

While it is nice, staff seemed to be limited. During the tour, I noticed lots of managers in offices secluding themselves from the main reason you should be here. While I understand they have office work, there should be more employees out and approachable with residents. Plus while touring other communities, it seems to me like all the added fees are unnessiary. We will not be moving into this commutity because of this.
