The problem was [name removed] the person in charge of the CNAs, operated in a tyrannical manner. She first refused to allow my wife to us a bed pan. Then, though it was agreed before we entered that she could use a bed pan at night and I and staff could use our Hoyer during the day, she demanded the CNAs use their Hoyer both day and night even though the only sling they had was for a bariatric person and my wife is petite. And, that meant waiting hours to urinate and not being able to go to the dining room. [name removed]claimed our Hoyer was dangerous because, being a manual hydraulic pump model, it has a lever that bleeds the pressure off rather than a motor that bleeds it off. She claimed the lever made the Hoyer dangerous. [name removed]single-handedly made the otherwise nice facility intolerable and unacceptable. If [name removed] is still there, the place is fine for residents who do not need the CNAs but unacceptable for a person who is wheelchair-bound. Also, once in a wheelchair with a Hoyer, the person must stay in the sling according to [name removed]though this causes sores and should not be done. Since the CNAs are also waiters in the dining room, there are two hour period when the CNAs do not respond to a person in a room or a wheelchair.

My mom died In November. Our experience with Brighton Gardens was horrific. They were negligent, made promises that were not kept, and their staff constantly complained about being short staffed. This included the med techs saying they could not carry out directions/prescription from Hospice with the result of her needlessly suffering in her last weeks of life! It was a traumatizing experience. I so regret choosing that place and I fear I will feel that regret for the rest of my life! The facility is old. Cosmetic updates paint and art work give a good impression but the resident hallways stink and the carpets need to be replaced. Their care was negligent even after multiple meetings and promises. The staff often complained about being understaffed and unable to provide quality care.

First of all, this is being written 4 months after my MIL's death. I have had time to process. This review is based on facts, not my opinion. Secondly, my MIL lived at Sunrise La Costa for 8 1/2 years. It started going down hill about 2019. As bad as we saw it, Sunrise was her home and elderly people don't like change. We couldn't convince her to move. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend Sunrise to my worst enemy. My mother-in-law lived there 8 1/2 years. What we saw occurred over years, not a short period of time. In 8 1/2 years, her room was never painted, recarpeted and nothing was done to maintain the bathroom. They recently remodeled the common area, but if you go into a room, the carpet is worn, stained and probably smells. Weekly cleaning consisted of vacuuming the middle of the room and a quick wipe down of the bathroom counter. Her care levels would be increased (along with her monthly fees), and we were not notified until after it occurred and I got a higher bill. When

I thought this would be a good place. The initial presentation makes you think 'wow' and happy you have found a safe place for your parent. Then it becomes clear you were lied to. I don't know where to start about the complaints. Hidden fees(will charge higher for care within a month) they do not confirm with the actual(spouse,child,caregiver)representative. Stolen phones. Workers kissing occupants(assault) . Secretary's asking you to store their goods for them. Paying [removed] in just taking care of your loved one, only to get a call because staff cannot(not that they can't, just they won't) open a bag with someone's hygiene products. The one in front of their faces. Basically asking anything besides death falls on deaf ears. It's a dog eat dog living arrangement I blame sunrise most importantly, but I also blame your service for not being able to actually care. A place for mom sold me to the highest bidder. I assume your all bad people and honestly(I don't believe) hope there is a God.

Do not go here. This is not a good facility. My husband had ants in his bed and they didn't even know so I just goes to show you. They didn't really check on him too much.

My loved one was previously a resident at Sunrise of Webster Groves and the experience at this facility was terrible. The staff was terrible and my loved one hated it there. The management was missing or unreliable. I would not advise anyone to stay there.

We did not have a good experience. I'm sure they mean well and they are very friendly but I would be careful about recommending sunrise to anyone with medical conditions. It's fine for assisted living. Anyone who needs a bandaid put on daily should choose a different facility.

Friendliness of staff - 3 (dining room staff not friendly, concierge was friendly, personal hygiene care people 1). Several accidents occurred, the last was fatal. If a 0 was available for the value, that is what we would give it.

As you can see I don't have anything good to say about Sunrise! My mom passed away just short of 3 months after moving in! I spent everyday there with her but the care at Sunrise was the worst! I went on a vacation and was gone for 2 days and she passed away while I was gone! I put her on hospice just so someone else would care for her while I was gone. The admin was pleasant and the staff was HORRIBLE ! They had a few longtime staff members on my mom's floor that were just horrible to my mom! Some of the new hires were nice but very few! My mom was very old and very weak and really needed patient caring people but there was NONE of that at Sunrise!

The caregivers are great but management is horrible. There were no activities and very limited care. Would not recommend.

For starters the Sales lady there told us different prices then what we discussed. On top of that when we asked about a certain room we were told that they wouldn’t let us see that’s. On top of that when she introduced us to a cook, he had to correct her with his proper title. It made us feel that she didn’t respect other people there. We also found the Executive Director to be quite rude.

This is a terrible facility for anyone bedridden. There were some nice and friendly staff, but overall this was not the place for my mother. After having a stroke, my mother was paralyzed and nonverbal. Although we were paying for checks every 3 to 4 hours, there were days she was not checked for 6, 6 1/2, and even 8 hours! We had a camera in the room with a sign on the door stating “room under surveillance” and still my mother got substandard care! The nights are the worse, medicines are not given on time because there is only one medical technician on duty at night. This is a terrible place!!!

This was a horrible experience. Placed husband in the memory care unit. He was a huge fall risk as well as medium Alz. He fell twice during the first 2 weeks with the 2nd fall resulting in 3 broken ribs and a broken nose. They sometimes had 1 person on the unit at night for 21 people as per the people oñ duty. One night my husband had explosive diarrhea and needed help. His daughter who was spending the night with him pulled the red cord for help and no one came. She went looking for help and found the one night staff person on her cell phone in the living room. We later found out the red cord didn't work. They told our daughter that she could clean up his room and bathroom. There is little or no communication between the nursing staff and the facility Dr so they were giving my husband 3 meds for constipation when he is having explosive diarrhea! I moved him to the VA nursing home after 1month. It was an awful experience.

My mom meds is always left in her room. [name removed] has no clue to what’s going on in her department. She has been nothing but rude to my mother and always trying to move her to memory care. No one has a clue of what they doing.

My loved one was previously a resident at Sunrise of Basking Ridge and the experience was terrible. The place was horrible. They would also over bill and then change it later to a lower number. I do not recommend Sunrise of Basking Ridge to anyone.

The management staff was not very professional. There was an issue with my father-in-law being prescribed a medication that he shouldn't have been given daily at his age (88). There was an incident because of that and we had to move him out of the facility and the State of Pennsylvania had to conduct an investigation into the incident.

No one on the staff seems actually “care” about any of the guests. In 6 weeks of memory care I never saw a single activity in progress and was there almost every day. Nursing staff is either completely incompetent or lacks any training whatsoever- not sure which it is. Communication is fantastic BEFORE your loved one moves in, and completely awful one the have your money. Billing was a nightmare, bills never were correct and you need to go over them carefully.

My parents moved a couple of months ago. That place is a total mess. Management was kind of awful to my parents. The food was horrible and never served what they said they were going to.

Please read and learn about this place before moving your loved one in if they are unable to defend and speak up for themselves. This Sunrise only takes pride in their assisted living. The Memory "Care" is horrible. I have videos and photos of the way my Mom was treated. She suffered from Lewy Body Dementia. I have photos of her privacy not being respected, her hygiene being ignored, and despite reporting each and every incident, nothing changed, and all the employees are still employed there. I found out much more after I installed cameras inside her bedroom. If you place your loved one here, insist on cameras inside their bedroom. My Mom used to eat with her hands, and on 2 separate occasions, her nails were full of old food and dirt. I had to alert the nurses of eye infections, also on 2 separate occasions. Imagine paying thousands $$ a month for "care" like this? Please put up cameras up and check on your parents like like I did. Feel free to contact me on Facebook for all info!

Room was not cleaned or functional, call button box fell off the wall and medical aid tied trash bags together and tied to my Dads wrist because pull cord was too short to reach bed, was givena necklace to call that wouldnt release, Stat ordered meds were over 10 hr late, oral meds were not administered at all, staff was not notified that he had been moved into facility, wasn't changed for8 hrs after arrival, toilet ran and didn't stop, water in sink wouldnt turn on. Very, very, very expensive.
