Know your loved ones' care needs and condition before placing them in a big community. Communication was only done when there were issues or concerns. I would not recommend this community to others. The only positive is that the sales team worked quickly to get us in the facility.

The staff members are all very friendly, but due to the restrictions we have not been able to see the inside and they have cancelled all the activities. Our number one problem was that they made it very difficult getting our loved one moved in and her room set up. It was difficult to get cable set up, the phone line set up, we just had to step in way way way more then what we were expecting.

The outside services that came to care for our loved ones would be a 5 out of 5, but the care within the community not so much. They gave our mother medicine she was not supposed to have. It may be because of covid but they do not hold themselves accountable, the services took forever. Their apartment had not been clean since they first moved in. We called to ask them to clean it before they moved out and when we came to get them it still had not been cleaned. They just did not seem to care. The facility has a great reputation and is in a great location, they say the food is amazing, but it is awful. They sell it like a 5 star place.

I didn't think to much of this place. This may have been due to the lock down of the community. My loved ones didn't like the community. The services where charged a daily fee. The maintenance was good. The staff wouldn't help one of my loved ones. I feel they were low on staffing.

I would check into other options, especially if you need additional care for your loved one.

When you are meeting with them at first what they quote you is not what you end up paying. They have a lot of hidden fees and charges that you aren't told about. I would not recommend this community to others.

Be careful before putting a loved one in this facility. My husband and I became legally responsible for his paternal grandmother after his fathers unexpected death. His grandmother was unable to care for herself after some time and my husband became ill and could not continue caring for her daily, therefore we were unable to care for her. We looked at many assisted living homes and thought that Sunrise would be wonderful as it is about 5 minutes from our home. We were told that 25 months of payments then it goes to Medicare, they neglected to tell us that they only had one medicare spot and it was full- long story short we were out of money. We began the process with an elder life management company- they found a nursing type home for her but were unable to move her due to Covid. Unfortunately, my husbands grandmother contracted covid while under their care and passed away. While attempting to collect the debt from us they would not listen to our concerns and were extremely rude while attempting to work the debt out. Kept telling us that their protocol does not accept covid patients back therefore we were lying. If I knew how heartless and unwilling to discuss this organization was I would have never agreed to having them care for her. The only reason I am not giving 1 star is the caretakers such as Cecelia were incredibly kind. Please think twice before signing the paperwork.

I explained to this community what care my loved one needed, and they said they could handle the care but when we moved in that did not happen and they refused to handle basic care. I would not recommend this community to others.

If your loved one is independent then this could be a good facility. But if your loved one is not independent or able to advocate for themselves this is not the place for you. The price was high for the care service provided. (my loved one had Parkinson's)

I would tell others that the staff here are connected to CO but the company who owns it is connected to FL. I got injured and they did not do anything for me at all. Corporate does not seem to help much at all. It is supposed to be independent living, but it is not. Most residents that are here need help and care. At night there are no staff members here need to help, so if people need any type of care it is not available. I think it is an assisted care facility that does not have the care. I would not recommend to others.

They only have one bathroom by the dining room and they have to go back to the room to use the restroom and that's a long walk, this provents participation The staff seems to have a fake friendliness when we left the facility they made the process very hard and harassing. I would not recommend this community to others. The facility is listed as providing assisted living but it does not.

This place has really gone down over the last year or two. Management seems to either not care or they're just not qualified to do this type of job. The place is dirty. Stop on friendly. Management incapable. Very disappointing.

Not clean enough. Could use a rug shampoo and have someone here to clean my aparmtnet.

[name removed] is a good worker. He completes tasks and is polite. Unlike our manager who is polite but does not do anything except talk on her cell phone.

This may be systemic to the industry, but I find that extreme staff turnover combined with apparently mandated by the very remote top management means that this facility is run down, dirty and depressing. The food is boring, poorly prepared, and not appropriate or accommodating for people with dietary restrictions. The staff work hard and try to be helpful and cheerful but they can't keep up with the demand of so many severely disabled and or demented residents. With 90% of my income going to rent, I expect more.

The building is old and needs constant repairs. The cabinets in the bathroom are falling apart.

I would tell them to not send their loved one there. Overall communication between the caregivers, nursing staff, and in house doctors isn't there. They never informed us of a weight change of almost 40 pounds, and we weren't told until beginning of July. The home health took over the bandages of a wound area. The caregiver of the community didn't tell the nurses or doctors about this weeping wounds. I ended up having to call the doctor when I noticed this. The caregivers and nurses didn't report it to the doctors. I was told by OT that my loved one couldn't lay flat due to her having a breathing problem. My loved one was able to sleep in the common area until they had to go to the hospital. I also had to asked for a sign to be placed above my loved one's bed to not place them on their back. Due to my loved one not eating or drinking and I had to bring in shakes to my loved one. I am not sure why I had to speak to the nurses instead of the caregivers in getting my loved one these shakes.

I would want other families looking into Sunrise to know that the medical staff is terrible, they call it a medical staff but they are not, they are only techs. If someone if seriously injured or sick they don't know what to do or how to care for them. They make up excuses for what they think is correct. It is very boring, there is nothing for the residents to do, they just put them in front a TV and leave them there. They do not have transportation take them to or from anywhere.

My mother lives at Sterling Canyon, the working staff that care for her are very good. The management is very bad. They never return your phone calls even, they never return or respond to emails either. I have had a billing issue for 5 months now and every time I try to contact there bill person she just ignores me. I tried calling yesterday at 10 am and they told me she was busy until 4 pm and she would call. Well she never called as usual. I am considering moving my mother from there because of this. This place doesn’t care about anything but money. Look elsewhere for your loved one.
