Overall we would not recommend this community to families who loves ones need assistance showering, getting to the refrigerator, or really any basic daily needs. We were told if we paid for this certain level of higher care that our loved one would receive that exact level of care. However that was not the case, our expectations and promises were not followed through with. If your loved one does not need much assistance this could be a great spot for them.

the staff at Sunrise of Raleigh are unresponsive and the care is lacking. the response(s) from administration to make appropriate changes are lacking as well.

We were given information that was not necessarily correct for our family member. They were not able to provide the adequate level of care our loved one needed, and their safety precaution's seriously need to be updated very very badly/

My mother was in this facility for four months. They screwed up the billing twice in that short time. The nurse, [name removed], who was assigned to her during the day was excellent and communicated with me frequently. The staff did not communicate with each other well. Ex. I bought and had in Mom's room a transport chair. The two times I took mom out the feet were missing. No one knew where they were but they were in the room on in between visits. The wheelchair they provided Mom was very hard to lock and she had minor falls in the bathroom. I finally bought an appropriate wheelchair for her. Staff would tell you something would be done but that person neither knew nor was authorized to address the matter. If you connected with the correct staff matters often were resolved quickly.

I feel they misrepresented themselves as far as their services. They had a separate memory care unit that was in a different part of the building, but they didn't tell us that quite a few of their assisted living residents had dementia. We also did not find out until later that the entire facility is locked down, not just the memory care unit. So the assisted living residents are not able to leave the facility, or even go sit on a chair outside without an attendant. Which was terrible for my loved one, who did not have dementia. They did wellness checks every morning at 5 am, and consequently woke everybody up. I had issues being able to reach their staff at night to check on my loved one. They told me they had an administrator on site every single day, which they actually did. But they told me they had Bridge twice a week, and it turned out they had no residents who remembered how to play. Misrepresentation was the main problem I had with them.

We have had tons of problems, especially with billing. The staff to resident ratio is very bad, there are only 2 girls working on the floor that are doing everything and I am not happy with her care. The new person who running it does not have any experience. I have nothing but complaints, it has been a very bad experience for her.

I would not recommend this facility based off my tour experience. The guy giving the tour was nice, but the activities director was extremely rude towards us and it overshadowed the experience and gave the whole place a bad vibe.

Before paying extra fees for services, make sure your parent needs those services before paying for them.

This community felt like a hotel, and the pricing was a la carte.

Our family did not have a very good experience during the few months our loved one was there, we aren't sure if it was due to staffing and maybe things have gotten better but for us it was not a good experience. On the memory care side we did not feel that they could care for dementia and Alzheimer patients. At one point they had a tremendous amount of residents go to the emergency room for behavioral outbreaks, they at the time were not adequately able to handle our loved ones care and the failed to manage our loved ones medication properly to where our loved one was going through withdrawals.

This community was to big for my loved one, also I was told I could visit one day a week for two hours only due to covid. They said that this was state wide but I found out that it was not. I needed to be able to see my loved one more than that.

Our tour of Sunrise Hunter Mill was not very good. Due to Covid, they couldn’t show us the actual room our loved one would live in. It was a pretty hard sell, and I felt very pressured. Also it was a much larger community than we wanted for our loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a big negative right away. The staff members were very nice but the community itself was very old and run down. It was musty and dark inside, and other communities we were touring were very bright and welcoming feeling.

They have been having a hard time with staffing, they seem to be sort staffed and they have quite a bit of turnover. They are having use agency workers instead of full time workers. The dining room is also still using plastic silverware even though they are open again. If you need on demand medication, that can be an issue as well because they are not set up for that. My mother had a ring stolen within a week of being in here so that could be an issue too.

I would tell others that my loved one broke their hip here, and they don't have appropriate supervision. The staff thought they could just easer the pain and cause by giving Tylenol to my loved one. I had to insist on a doctor coming into the community to see what was causing my loved one's pain. My loved one is no longer here.

I would suggest you not put someone you love or a loved one in here, unless they can take care of themselves. The person I spoke with initially told me that they could take care of my loved one. The food tray was left for my loved one to eat, and they knew that they were having trouble in eating. The nurse gave the pills in my loved one's mouth and my loved one couldn't swallow them. The staff said that they were only assisted living and that they weren't trained for the care that my loved one needed. The day before my loved one transitioned, I spoke with [name removed] (the director) that they lost my loved one belongings. [name removed] and the staff didn't know my loved one was passing away because they were trying to get my loved one to eat. The only people that knew was the hospice team and they were great. The front office would always say the staff were in meetings, they must have held 24 hour meetings.

[name removed] did not like this place at all. It was depressing because there were mostly people in wheelchairs who obviously needed a lot of care. Minimal activity. More like a nursing home. The place itself was nice but [name removed] needs more life, more going on.

Looked dismal from outside--Assisted Living. No flowers or anything pretty. Inside air temp was too warm, stifling. Private dining room had drapes hanging off the rod from missing hooks. Walls were scuffed as was elevator interior with dirty floor. Saw overflowing garbage cans. Many employees passed by it but not one of them took responsibility in emptying it. Artwork was pretty. Was shown a studio apartment that belonged to someone new moving in. Saw a one bedroom that was doable. An odor somewhat like urine through the air. Again the a/c wasn't consistent. Menu changes daily in addition to an always available menu option. Songs and singing activity was adorable, my mom chimed in!!. She liked that. Overall, not impressed and mom didn't like it either.

Don't use this community. You don't get what they promised upfront. They were short-staffed and the communication between the staff and our family was not good. It took forever to get calls back and I would not recommend this community
