Sunrise Senior Living

It's an okay place to live. They don't have the kind of food that I like. They don't serve burritos. I don't like the eggs because they are too scrambled. I like the exercise room and I'd like to go outside. I go out with my relatives, but I want them to be able to visit my room.

[Name removed] is wonderful. He is cheerful, polite, and just friendly. She is willing to help and is never rude or short with residents. We have other workers that are not friendly and polite as she is. I truly commend her. I wish her disposition would rub off on everyone.

Food id good and my apartment is good.

This is a bad time to write a review with the stressful way all things are now. The staff has tried hard and essentially has coped. Housekeeping service are almost zero. The manager doesn't understand her responsibilities but muddles through. The receptionist has been a trooper and is great. The cooks obviously know nothing about nutrition. No thought has been given to the total monetary of the meals. The activities director tries hard to compensate for other staff members as well as doing her job. The kitchen has two very good helpers. The maintenance person is on the go constantly and tries hard. Some of our problems are unique to Courtyard. Others seem to be with all senior residents

The food is not that good. I prefer oatmeal in the morning, or pancakes. For lunch and dinner I would like rice, well cooked veggies, pasta and soups, sweet potatoes too. The carpets in the hallways need to be cleaned.

I think the courtyard is a special place. I am not impressed with the staff’s inability to provide any solutions or help. We issued for extra towels and was told “you get one set” and then stared at blankly. Bad customer service but overall a good place for seniors.

Staff is mostly helpful. Need training for new employees. More attention to sanitizing during Covid. Meals have improved since delivery to apartment door. Sometimes portions are too large. A big A+ for doing away with foam containers.

I rate as 50 / 50. My first time residing in a senior independent living community. The building and my apartment are quite modern and attractive. Downside: have resided here for one year. Lots of employees have left here and not enough replacements. Attribute some of this because of the pandemic, potential hires do not wish to become infected where potential may be high in facility for old people.

I am very disappointed. I signed a contract in good faith but Courtyard dropped the ball. Even with pre pandemic things should be done. The servers make sure people are given their food.

Wish they did room cleaning, pick up the weight stuff. We do not have carpet so sweep with a broom. Our room cleaners have a very negative attitude when confronted. Meals should be changed up more. The vegetable trays are great. Youth servers are the best.

Some of the staff members brought COVID into the community, and they have stopped all activities since February, Even when people could get out of their rooms to be active, there was nothing organized or planned for the residents to participate in. Before COVID the food was okay, however they now have had three different turnovers within the kitchen staff, and the food now is not good at all.

A new Manager started and wouldn't tell the truth to residents and families. The Manager was known to be a liar, we encountered first hand. The management would talk about residents behind their backs with other residents. When my loved one had to move out of Parkwood Estates to a Memory Care community, the management tried to force us out in a few days even though we still had a lease. The lease included three meals a day I was refused food during the packing and moving process. The management stated you are not the resident you do not get any food. When I asked if the cost of the meals would be taken off the bill, I was told no and that I would still had to pay for the meals. The community had set meal times, and if you missed the assigned time you would not get to eat. During my loved one's time there, there were snacks available for residents. People who had a choice between Parkwood Estates and Rigdon Farms tended to choose Rigdon Farms. I would recommend checking out Rigdon Farms. Rigdon Farms doesn't have set meal times. Also, has the ability to step down into cognitive care.

The staff members at Sunrise community were fabulous, however the management was awful. Overall value for this community is expensive for what you got. The billing, and communication was terrible it was really lacking. The accessibility to management was poor, the staff members really did run this place. The food was excellent, and the rooms were dated but kept very clean.

I'm glad to get back to normal. I miss the activities most of all the bus ride on sunny days in our beautiful mountains, warm food, and ice cream. Some things are getting better.

I would want other people to know when looking into this facility that you have to provide your own furniture for the rooms. They made arrangements for us when we told them that we sold all my moms furniture. The coverage was terrible at night, they had 32 patients in 1 area and only 2 staff members to watch everybody. My mom needed a hoigher lift and they were able to take care of that for us. Sunrise does not have sensors on their beds or wheelchairs that notify someone when the residents get up. They told me when my mother was in the hospital that for them to take her back, we needed someone there to watch her because they only had 2 staff members. I either had to sit there or we had to hire somebody. We ended up finding another place.

Sunrise of Easy Brunswick community is pretty expensive, they charge more than what they have to offer. The communication is lacking, we don't always get direct answers to our questions, and we will hear different stories from different people,

I would tell my friends that I thought it was a good place for the right price. The food one was liked by my loved one. The nurses were nice. My loved one had an individual room, which provided him lots of room.

When I looked at Sunrise, one of my major concerns was transportation. They let me know that they now had transportation and that was the decider. Once we got here, they only did transportation 3 days a week and now its only running 2 days a week. There are a lot of restrictions on offerings such as personal services. If you have a family member who is mobile, this is a wonderful place! The more you are restricted by health issue and mobility, the more difficult it is to get these services all the time. The people are caring, food is good, it is a nice place but only for the right person. Make sure you ask the right questions.

The rooms at Sunrise community are pretty average sized. The food was also about average. One thing we really liked when we first looked at this community was the friendliness of the staff and residents.
