The current Executive Director is excellent, as are the nurses in the Wellness Office. However, at the moment I am not sure I would recommend the community. The new Director has only been there a few months and he seems to be making changes for the better. Perhaps in the future we would recommend this community

Mobile Phone service is non existing, Verizon lousy connection and T mobile no service. Cant call mom and have any kind of communication. I feel they are understaffed. Not great communication . I wish they had more activities and encouraged participation more. Very disappointed - For almost $8k a month I shouldn't be washing my moms bathroom floor, or not able to call her

I moved my mother-in-law out of Sunrise several months ago because their pricing kept going up. They priced us out totally and staying there was not sustainable. Very disappointing to have to move a 102-year-old woman in the winter but I had no choice. I would only recommend if money is no object.

The weekend we moved my loved one in, they were having a Covid outbreak. I can't blame that on them, but they should have told us, I would have kept her with me until things cleared up. Within 2 days she was confined to her room, Covid positive, saw 2 people a day (meds and meals) and was not able to integrate/socialize into the Sunrise community. She became so disoriented, and didn't know where she was, and why she couldn't leave her room. She got yelled at every time she did. Then they wanted to move her to Memory Care, at double the price. Medication Management was a nightmare for the first 2-3 weeks, so many errors. We had opted to move her out rather than to Memory Care.

The administration (not nurses) in my experience most are not Friendly, seem to avoid family when visiting, not easily reachable and follow up is not good.

Staff, friendliness, activities, cost- very good. Cleanliness and food very fair.

The positives were the staff and cleanliness. The negatives far outweigh e.g. the food was tasteless which I heard other residents complain about in addition to my mother, my mom went to the hospital and I was not informed by Sunrise but the emergency room doctor, the payment portal did not work & as a result we ended up paying exorbitant late fees - just a few of the issues that I can recall but there were more unfortunately. For that price I expected way better.

My comments pertain to the Reminiscence Community. It is difficult to communicate via telephone with the care managers in the Reminiscence community. The care managers seem to be over-extended on a regular basis. Basic needs of the residents are met. The community is safe, clean, and a nice environment for the residents . It is imperative for each resident to have an advocate (family or friend)!!!

Unfair charging practices without confirmation of actual costs. They continue monthly to this day. Negotiated pricing seemed to be forgotten and had to be reviewed more than once. When moving mother in law in, there were charges submitted that were eventually dismissed, but wee totally never even discussed. Corrective maintenance that was corrected prior to move in took weeks after mother in law was moved in to correct. I gave pictures to the facility, they should be on file with facility.

The facility is new & very pretty. The turnover of staff is very high starting w the director & all the way to care staff. I understand that these facilities r $$ but I feel for the cost the care could be a little bit better & some of that is due to inconsistent workers . The food could be improved too. The food on memory care floor is not as good as in AL.

I would tell others looking to really understand pricing for meds . X amount -=y, z amount =h take as few as possible to reduce price. They need to have things like outdoor games, pool table, ping pong, light weight horse shoes.

They were caring however I feel that the patients didn't get the care that they needed as a dementia patient needed. I felt they simply rolled them up to the dining hall and turned the tv on.. little to no engagement...there should be some form of therapy, if there's something memory...some engagement with activities that stimulate the mind ...

My loved one is a resident at Brighton Gardens of Columbia and overall the experience has been good for her. The cleanliness throughout the building is great, as far as in her room, it's okay. Her bed isn't always made and sometimes her clean clothes are not hung up, even though there are enough hangers. The friendliness is great. The care services are okay. She isn't always smelling fresh and clean when I visit. Her adult diaper should be changed as needed, but it doesn't always happen. Sometimes, when I pick her up to take her to appointments, she has not been cleaned nor has her hair been done. Probably her teeth aren't brushed either. Most of the staff are good workers, doing a difficult job. The weekend workers seem to be new, so I am not sure what they know about the patients that they are assigned to. The food is good and the facility has a lot of activities.

The Holiday Sugar Valley Estates community now is I believe Sunrise as of [date removed] There have been a few issues but being patient to see what develops. Our new director as of about a month ago is excellent so far.

The apartment had a lot of work before my mother moved in but there were a lot of things that should have been fixed. These include grab bars in the main bath, a light switch that did not work properly, doors that needed new weather stripping, doorbell battery that was out, etc. No one thing was big but combined it added up. The apartment had new carpet and paint but they did not clean well prior to move in. The staff really tries hard. They have been pleasant and helpful. It seems that the staff are required to do the job of 1.5 to 2 people. The meals are not good at all. Once in a while they are good, but mostly they are mediocre. The dining hours are very limited. (1 hour) and if you are late you are SOL. Very disappointed.. Value for cost. 3 The advertised amenities are just minimal.

Overall pretty good but expensive. Also, communication between staff and family has been very good.

Maintenance dept not responsive Heating system did not function properly. Electric outlet in bathroom was dysfunctional and even after repeated complaints nothing was done. BedRoom not insulated enough against traffic noise and was cold in winter Food was deplorable and subpar at best Night staff were not friendly and sometimes rude and unresponsive (the nurses aides) [names removed] were the best staff there

My loved one was previously a resident at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh and the overall experience was okay. Ultimately, we decided to move my loved one to a different facility and her new facility is far superior to Brighton Gardens of Raleigh.

The assisted living section of Sunrise is great. Unfortunately our loved one had to go directly to memory care. There are 4-5 caregivers for about 20 residents. They are busy constantly, and have no time to give individualized care to anyone. They are kind & gentle with all. However, when an emergency room visit is required, the resident is sent ALONE. This is my chief complaint. A person with dementia is not able to advocate for themselves. Also, being in a strange/unfamiliar place is very distressing.

Activities were good. Good musicians. Games. But bus wasn't working then driver was out for a month. And nothing was done to provide alternatives. Workouts The space itself is nice. High ceilings and lots of light. Her apartment was spacious and had a deck. Quincy Place looks nice but has a hard time keeping staff and therefore can't keep its service level where it should be. The cleaning staff wasn't able to clean on a schedule because they didn't have enough help. My mother was a home health care director of nursing and complained to the Quincy Place managers about a home health care person who worked with several residents and who was sharing private details with other residents-so blatant HIPAA violations. And management didn't seem to address it. Not well run so residents suffer the consequences. One benefit at Quincy Place is that they were able to offer a very reduced community fee upon move in. So it was financially easier for someone who doesn't want to put down a lot of money up front. It's also conveniently located at I225.
