Food and activities are nice. If you are a family that likes communication, then this is not the right place.

It's been a complete mess since I have been here. For months we did not have transportation to go to stores. We didn't get our rooms cleaned. Not enough servers at meals. Still that way. A new company has just taken over, hope it becomes the place I thought I was moving into. Love my room, size is good.

The overall atmosphere was nice, but they could have better communication

All was good at Sunrise until our loved ones health declined. We needed to move our loved one from assisted to memory care. Unfortunately, there were no rooms available. So we were in essence forced to move out. Sunrise then said we had to give 30 days notice. So in essence they forced us out, then charged us for not giving notice. Our loved one fell a couple times and the independent nurse we hired couldn't get them up. Sunrise staff helped once, then told the nurse they would not help again. Our loved one spent an hour on the floor until we were able to get there and help. the last few weeks at Sunrise really soured our opinion and made a bad experience with our loved one even worse.

My husband always waited a long time for someone to come help him. We moved him out of Des Peres on [date removed] Because they could not give him the care he needed. Got a statement saying we will get a credit. Still waiting on getting the check. I called Sunrise twice regarding the refund but never got a call back. Not happy that the business office could not return a simple call. Calls were just ignored.

When my wife got to the point where she couldn't feed herself, they charged $90 a day to do so--Negotiable and no credit for meals that I fed her.

Stay away from here. Their management staff is horrible and so is the food and service not to mention the maid service is somewhere between bad nonexistent.

They talk the talk and they are genuine caring, and it’s a nice place. But it’s also a large place so if your LO needs a high level of care, I’d keep looking. Thy just don’t have the staff to do frequent checks. It would be good for someone who is more high functioning.

Certain persons in staff either DO NOT return your call(s) or they DO NOT return your call(s) in a timely manner. This is unacceptable.

Sunrise of Willowbrook's medical staff billed me on two separate dates for services I did not receive. The one time I met with the staffer the exam, for medical clearance, was brief and cursory. I have informed Sunrise's executive director, the billing entity and Medicare of these erroneous charges. The food served was generally mediocre but ranged from Encore-like Salisbury steak to tasty pasta, pizza, and ribs. Frozen cooked corn was served way too often. On occasion, the kitchen ran out of milk, French dressing, my favorite diet soda and yogurt, various ice cream flavors, and wine. My table mate waited over a week at times for the wine to be replenished. Some of the staff assumed authority they didn't have, denying me food I ordered, telling me where to sit at mealtimes, and escorting me back to my room when I walked the hallway at night. I had very little privacy in my room because several staffers came inside without knocking or announcing themselves first. Several staff members, mainly servers, were outstandingly friendly and empathetic. The shower head is tiny and the water flow is weak.

We are moving my dad home. My mom can't stand being there everyday, yet won't leave him there alone. Originally we were told that they would be together on the assisted living side, but after assessing him told them they could not and my mom could be with him in memory care or could live in a small studio on assisted living side and visit everyday but could not eat with him. They called it a quality of life/ dignity issue. She tried that, but moved home after 60 days. She drives back and forth everyday and stays there 8-8. She cooks her meals at home and brings them everyday to eat with him. Too expensive for her to eat with him. Meal choices good. On the assisted living side very tiny portions. Quality of care depends on who was working that day. The activities are not stimulating for him

As a retirement center I would highly recommend it. As a facility for those needing extensive care I would not recommend it.

The food quality needs improvement. Sometimes the portions are too small. Some of aides Are rude.

Breakfast was limited except for 2 days per wk. Supper was decent most days. Best benefit was access to gym exercise equipment, and therapy pool. Sunrise had a COVID-19 spike so I moved to rental property, that I own near Queen Anne, MD and I am still with free access to nearby YMCA active aging prog including gym, pool and also monthly vitals tests, and seminars by local health dept.

The managers are great but staff can be surly. Value for cost is a crazy question because the cost is astronomical. She has also fallen 3 x and been to the hospital 2x. Not sure why because we get different stories from different people. And for every new pill ahead needs they tackle on a few hundred dollars a day. It's insane. However, if the family can afford it then yes we would recommend Sunrise of Mill Basin to others

My loved one visited every day and we had a private aide. I think they were understaffed and did not have a great plan to work around that. The care was adequate. They took a while to get into a flow with my loved one. We had to stay on top of everything.

The location of Sunrise of Metairie community is very convenient for all 4 daughters. Yes - always room for improvement.

It is under new management now so we will wait to see if the food and activities improve, but for what is provided I feel like $[removed] per month is way too much. She was charged the new much higher rent last July due to a remodel but then the cost increased 7 percent! I would say look elsewhere. It is hard on the elderly to move them so try to choose wisely the first time. My mom has one friend she keeps company with but talks about moving all the time. However with ger increasing memory challenges it is too daunting for her to make another change.

He loves the staff that are his caregivers, they are the best. The upper management has changed and the director of 20+ years left. They have had two directors since and they are just not a good fit, which is a shame.

I was only there a handful of times during her brief stay. But he mentioned how inattentive the staff was during the day and that she wasn't being fed.
