It was okay. It's a bigger facility and they have nursing care there so if you fell or got hurt and needed more care you could just be transferred to another wing and stay there. That's a different feature that they had. The building seemed a little bit more dated. I think it was an old hotel and they were planning to refurbish it. It may be better by now.

I think they were having some remodeling done. That was an issue because it might have been noisy. I think it was just a little bit more, money-wise, than the place we chose. I felt that they would have done as many things with the residents here but I can't say for sure because my mom never lived there.

My mom and I were very impressed by the lovely facilities and common areas and very happy with the apartment she selected for assisted living. All the staff and management are extremely courteous, pleasant and professional. I would happily recommend them to anyone considering this kind of community. Our only disappointment after she moved in was finding so many more of the residents in need of wheelchair or other ambulatory assistance when my mom is much more mobile and independent. We hope she finds more closer to her abilities in the nearer term with which she can socialize.

It seems to be okay, it looks very clean, certainly where the residents live is fine, the back way wasn't as clean but no residents live there so that's okay. Everybody seems to be very friendly, we had a little issue dealing with their knowledge of how to deal with a very combative dementia patient. My father didn't want to be there and walked out and I don't think the person on the floor did a very good job trying to convince him to stay, but that's just my opinion. The memory care floor seems to be way more expensive but that's probably where he's headed. When he gets to that lock down floor, which he'll need at least in the beginning, it may break the bank.

It's right by my house, but they went out and assessed her and they just wouldn't take her, they said they didn't have the resources to keep her safe. I loved this palce, it's a really pretty property, it was just beautiful and very festive with a big grand piano, but they really made no bones about her not coming here and I was a little upset about that.

They're not very good on follow up on maintenance actions that need to be done. That department is just not there. The service where they take you to the doctors appointment - the hours are severely limited. When we moved in here we put our house on the market so I've been really busy on getting that through the sales process and haven't been able to take advantage of the activities yet. They have a full schedule, 5 or 6 a day, but I have not been able to join in that much. I'm looking forward to it. The food here is about a 3 out of 5.

I wasn't' impressed with. It was sort of old, dilapidated. It just didn't have the facilities that we were looking for.

I liked the palce and I liked the facility. The costs were on a daily basis and they had a lot of add-ins and that didn't make a lot of financial sense for us. We didn't know how long her need there would be and I sat down with them twice to go over cost and the cost was different both times so that concerned me.

It is a much more expensive place to be, it's a good place if you have your marbles together and you want to spend time socializing and interacting with other people but she got to the point where they were just feeding her and cleaning her up and she jsut sat there and it didn't seem to me to be a good use of the family finances. Some things happened there and it's a very difficult thing to care for a lot of people that are so disabled but she ended up with a couple of fractures, she broke her hip by rolling out of bed and there was some discussion about getting a matress on the floor and she also had fractured her fibia and by the time we had found out it looked like it had been fractured for a few weeks. At that point she had one word answers and it was typically yes, so it's a difficult thing, she was in a wheelchair and her foot was dragging so it may have gotten twisted in that. I wouldn't want to do their job because I would probably do the same thing if I had to do that all day, who knows. It's a difficult thing all around and the Alzheimer's floor where she was on is just so terrible, they do what they can with lots of chemicals, they've got rugs and I don't see anything dirty but the smell was just overwhelming.

When you walk up on the driveway it was all cement. It felt dated. Inside it was nice but it felt, to me, more like a convalescent home. I didn't feel the warmth from those people. I didn't care too much for them. Some people in my family felt that this was the right place. The bedroom was much bigger and they felt that they were probably better at the paperwork and how the organization works because they're a corporation but was leaning more towards the loving feeling of a smaller care home. It ended up being 2 to 3 and we chose the smaller place.

While the place is beautifully kept both inside and outside, I wasn't too impressed with the level of service we were receiving for my father's stay there. He has been there only for a month so far so I don't want to say too much until we see how it goes. Their caregivers are young women who also work in the kitchen (which I find very strange) and also take care of the seniors there, (bathing, toileting, dressing them). I don't know how experienced they are between doing kitchen duty (serving food and washing up dishes) and then overseeing the full care of a senior citizen who is wheelchair bound or using a walker. Needless to say, it is a very expensive facility, and for the amount of money we are spending, it should be A1 service which is sorely lacking.

When I originally went in they didn't have any openings. They were really nice but they were more expensive and they were further away. They did give me a call within a week when they knew they had an opening available. It didn't quite work out with when she was getting out of rehab but that was a close second. They have a doctor there that specializes in Parkinson's so that would have been great.

It's nice. Their meal plan is slightly different. I might be a set price per month. It was also nice physically but there was no pool. It seemed to be crowded.

Things are going pretty good at the moment, he's doing okay.

She's doing very well there and we're comfortable with her being there.

We have been a little disappointed in the staff and their ethics. It looks good from the outside but on the inside it’s different. Some of the staff makes our loved one feel like they should not be there which makes them more depressed. The time we visited the community they had lots of activities with what seemed to be a lot of variety but seems like there has been less activities and less variety now. They have not been as supportive to some of our decisions and our instructions. Overall we have been a little disappointed with the community.

I think they're okay. It expensive and the activities, for my father it's probably a 2. They just put him in fron of a tv. They're taking care of a lot of people and my father fell a few times becuase they just don't have enough people. We chose it because it's close.

My mother has been there for a few weeks and we're pretty happy with it so far. The staff is very friendly. I think it could cost less, but I don't have any experience with these matters. It's my first go around. My mother is very happy with the meals. She attends the movies and has been on a couple little trips. I'm having a little problem with them right now. When I signed up I gave them a deposit and they said they would divide the deposit between the first three months. They keep sending us bills for the remainder of the deposit. The first bill they gave to my mother which really annoyed me. I have a thing that says it's going to divided between three months so I have to sort that out.

it's a possible candidate; tour was thorough and relaxed

In comparison to other places we looked at the Sunrise Senior Living of Newtown Square seemed equal or better overall than more expensive facilities. Just before my mom moved it this facility was bought by a large corporation which causes some concern. I marked them lower on Care Services because it is so inconsistent, my mom is not getting the care she is paying for on a daily basis. When I have visited her for dinner I have seen on multiple occassions residents wait over an hour and a half to be served in the dining room. The staff is friendly but they seem understaffed for the number of residents. They always seem to be hiring, it is not clear if it is hard to find staff for the schedule or the pay but the services they provide are inconsistent because they are so understaffed. Overall my mom is very positive about her experience and it is an excellent facility. I have spoken with the facility's director regarding getting my mom's compression socks put on her everyday, this however is not always done. I will be keeping an eye on their care of her and if there is no improvement I will be looking to move her elsewhere. For the amount she is paying it is unacceptable that the staff skip or forget to provide services they are contracted to provide her.
