Sunrise Senior Living

When first bringing my Mom to Brighton Gardens, I was sure that this would be her forever home. It is beautiful, no doubt. She loves her private suite. But as time as gone by, we have been told things by staff that have not been true repeatedly, which have directly affected my Mom's health and emotional well-being and have caused great distress and depression. Also, the cost is very much higher that we were first quoted, which was one of the reasons we wanted her here. Many disappointments, but the Care Managers are wonderful. Most times when a request for a nurse is needed and she is in the building and it is urgent, it is generally ignored. This has happened with MedTechs also. Often I have noticed no one out on the floor and have knocked on the Medication Room door to find it full of people laughing and having a good time. Is that where all our cost is going, untruths from Assisted Living staff stretching over almost four weeks now and CM's closed up in a room when needed elsewhere? Sorry to sound so harsh, but I have been personally hurt because of seeing my Mom treated the way she has been. Originally I would have given Brighton Garden 4 Stars and am being nice by giving it 3 and a half.

The staff at Sunrise of Cascade is not very friendly or don't communicate well. The activities that are offered are going okay. The meals taste good and the community is up-kept. At the moment i would not recommend the community to friends and family. I really hope the staff friendliness can get better.

This is a good community for assistance. Very clean and well taken care in every area. Staff is very good. My mom is not able to join in on the activities but seems to be adjusting to her new home.

This community is great with a excellent staff to help with all needs. He is finding that the meals are good. Very clean in all areas. My husband at this time does not want to participate in the activities. Over all this community is a good experience for the value.

I toured this community for my father. From what I saw everything looked nice and clean. The room they showed me was nice and a good size. The staff was kind and informative. It was a good tour, but it was not the community for my father. This is a nice community with friendly people.

This was a lovely community. My tour went very well, everybody was very kind and welcoming. From what I saw the facility looked well maintained. The staff was sweet and informative. There are nice activities offered. Overall my tour went well.

This was a nice community however it was a little older than the community we chose. They do keep the community clean and the staff that took us on a tour were friendly and knowledgeable.

Upon entering Sunrise Senior Living, we were warmly welcomed by both the environment and the well informed staff, and felt assured my mom would be well cared for and comfortable in her new suite. My mom has only been there just over 3 weeks now, and so far, so good. She receives very good care, but as her POA (and daughter), I would like to be more informed about the nursing services she receives and the medications she is on, so will reach out to obtain that information that I would ordinarily expect would be offered without prompting. The residence offers many activities, but at this early stage, my mom has only participated once or twice...I think she would be easily persuaded to join in other activities if she had a little more encouragement from her care team...am confident this will happen in due course.

I toured this community and from what I saw it is a nice community. The person who took us on the tour was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was not able to try the food at this community. It seemed clean and to have a lot of activities.

My daughter husband was only at this community for one month, but it was a pleasant experience. They did care for him very well. The community was nice looking, they kept everything nice and very clean. The staff was nice and very helpful. There are great activities offered. My daughter said the meals were okay. Overall they did a good job caring for him.

I just want to say Thank you to Jeannie and the staff for taking good care of my parents while my cousin and I were on vacation in the Philippines bec you all gave us peace of mind not having to worry about my dad wandering out in the street, whether they have eaten, taken their meds, shower, and enjoying themselves. The value is pretty expensive but it would probably cost the same if we hired a caregiver but the quality of care won't be the same. My only complaint is that my mom loss a lot of weight while she was there. She complained that she kept getting fed a loaf of bread with sweet syrup in it and she kept telling them that she wanted plain bread but she kept getting the same sweet syrup in her bread every breakfast and she wasn't happy about that. Also, since my mom stayed there, her balance and walking declined. So now her pcp ordered a home Physical Therapy to improve her balance and walking. But otherwise, we really love this facility. Its very clean, homey, relaxing and there's something about the Reminiscence floor that made me teary eyed and touched me. This place reminds me of a doll house. I'm glad that my parents were able to experience a different environment for a change and were able to socialize with other people. Thank you Jeannie and Shelby, and to the care team who provided care to my parents, for all that you've done for making my parents feel like they're also on vacation. Keep up the great team work!

I am satisfied with Sunrise and do recommend it. It is a beautiful facility, clean, well maintained. It is always a nice feeling to walk into the entrance way. There is an obvious stress on friendliness and a caring attitude toward residents and their visitors. They have activities appropriate for a senior living facility and encourage residents to use the facilities. The food is quite good and they are very adaptable to making special dishes. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and competent, even when they are rushed. The nursing staff and care staff heads are dedicated and knowledgeable. Most importantly, most of the residents who circulate seem comfortable, like to meet newcomers, and often chat in a way that conveys that they feel they are well cared for. My main reservation is that they would be even more efficient with a stronger top management system. The current organization appears to depend upon each separate function. In addition, they need at least a few more staff to respond quicker to calls and provide the numerous services needed by seniors at mealtimes. They also ought to have a better orientation for new residents and their families before a move in to facilitate the stresses of a transition from a home environment to permanent residence in an assisted living residence. Despite these reservations I am glad that I chose Sunrise and do recommend it to others (but advise them to get a good orientation with senior staff before the move in.)

Sunrise is nicely located with beautiful surroundings.... the people that work at Sunrise are very nice and friendly... the rooms are good and very clean... it is a good place....

The most ridiculously expensive way to spend your retirement money. There is nothing in the world that is worth this kind of money. It is only for the wealthy like doctors or professional people that don't know what else to do with their money.

Sunrise of Pikesville is pretty decent. My mother is doing well there, she's getting used to it. The staff is pretty good. They celebrate the holidays and decorate, it's a pretty quaint place. The food is not the greatest, I don't look forward to eating there again. My mother likes to play bingo and do puzzles, not really much other activities she likes to participate in.

We have not used any other similar services. I was disappointed with the activities but it is winter. The staff are very friendly but I'm not sure it's as well run as I expected.

you always expect more than what is actually delivered. The care managers are friendly and caring.

I think that the in house staff is really good, but the out source stuff, I'm not to sure about them. It may not be the right place for my mom. However, its the best place in the area.
