Sunrise Senior Living

The only thing I can think of where Sunrise at Fair Oaks needs to improve is the quality of the food. It is nutritional, but they overcook the chicken, served under-cooked pork tenderloin, and other similar instances. Other than that everything has been great. The people there are friendly and the place is very homey and clean.

The sales pitch we received at Brighton Gardens of Middletown was kind of unpleasantly aggressive and I felt that there was a bit of a bait and switch. That and the fact that it was a very large place contributed to our decision to take mom elsewhere. We ended up putting her in a smaller place where we felt she could receive the sort of attention she needs. Brighton Gardens of Middletown seems like a nice place and I am sure it works out great for many, but it turned out not to be for us and we did not like the sales pitch.

I think they are doing a pretty good job. She seems a little more comfortable there, and she has been participating more with activities, and socializing. The staff has been pretty good, and pretty on top of things. The one thing I was surprised to get, was a monthly update on her condition and any changes. It is a lot more expensive than where we were before, and they go through their own company for medication, plus an extra fee for medication.

Overall we are happy with our experience at Sunrise of Des Peres (especially relative to places we have tried before), but there definitely are a few areas where they could improve. I do feel like their communication to me is a bit lacking. They are very friendly, but they do not keep me informed of things that are going on. I have to make repeated calls and really chase down people and dig a lot to get some information. Part of these issues seem to stem from the fact that they might be a bit understaffed. Communication and a few other issues we have had seem to come from this, and it creates an extra inconvenience and strain, especially considering the money that we are spending. Again, we are happy overall, but I just wish the communication were better and more proactive.

I wasn't real happy with the admission process and the pricing. It seems like they hid some of the costs until the last moment, and it ended up being a good bit more a month than we expected, and by that time it was too late to go back. That said, the people at Sunrise of Westlake Village are very professional. Mom has dementia and they do an excellent job caring for her and keeping her busy. But it is very expensive.

My parents really like it. The staff is really friendly. However, for a place that you would expect to see hospital beds, there is not too much room for them.

It has been an extremely warm and welcoming environment at Sunrise of Frederick. It was a seamless transition, and mom feels like a part of the community. One area they can improve is with the activities. They are very average, and with some creativity they could do more things, such as maybe a Sunday ride out to the mountains to see something different.

Overall things have gone well at Sunrise at River Road. The staff here are all very friendly, and they seem to really care about the residents. However, they have been going through some management turnover recently and that has caused some of the care and attention to detail in their memory care unit to decline while they look for a new manager. I assume this will only be temporary, because in general they seem to genuinely care about the residents and providing them high quality service here.

Overall things have gone well at Sunrise. They've been very accommodating in adjusting my loved one's care to suit her needs. We felt her evaluation was a bit off, but they've been great about working with us to make sure she is comfortable and happy. The facility itself is very nice looking, and the staff are all very friendly!

We looked at two different Sunrise locations, and this was far superior to the one in Chesterfield. That one seemed very unorganized, but based on what I saw, I would recommend this one.

The place is beautiful! The staff is extremely friendly, and they know all the residents by name. They do, however, need to communicate to the family more of what's going on with the patients. If I lived in another state and left my mom there for them to care for her, it would be very challenging. I would like for them to keep me more consistently in the loop on everything that's going on. That's the only disappointment.

Overall things have gone very well with Sunrise of Smithtown. It's a nice place, the staff are friendly, and we have no big complaints! We'd recommend it as somewhere to look into, if you're looking into care in the area.

Overall it's going pretty well. There seem to be a lot people with different issues, and it can be hard to find someone to socialize with. The staff and everyone is very nice. It's clean and they take good care of their residents. It's very nice, and it's decorated very nice. The activity people come and check with her, they make an effort to get her involved. We chose them because we had known someone else that had been there and had a pleasant experience. It was also in a good location for us. I liked that they evaluate them once a month so that if there is any improvement they will adjust the care level. Knowing that it's less expensive for her, the lower her care level is, turns out to be a great incentive for her to keep her health up.

I think like all companies that has a lot of moving parts, they need the best technology they can buy, and I don't think they have that with the devices the residents wear to call for help. Overall definitely very pleased though. Lots of good teamwork to get things done.

They're very friendly and the facility is beautiful. The rooms are like mini apartments. The food could be improved, as could the activities. They need to encourage the participants to come to them, and they should be more varied.

Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Communication b/w departments can fall short. My aunt is 102 years old. I chose sunrise because I thought it to be the best of the bunch.

They have plenty of opportunities for activities and things to do, but my father is too stubborn to do anything. The studio he has is a largest and they supply everything he needs. He is very happy there. The staff is very friendly. The place is beautiful. It's a great value. They offer transportation and the only thing that I think would be more helpful is if they had a schedule for their transportation services. I think it would be much easier if my dad didn't have to go down to the front desk and ask to be taken to the library and rather if there was a schedule, where he would know on certain days at certain times, they go to the library or to Walmart or such. I think that would be great. Just like they do with the meals, where they know what they'll have on which days and such. Otherwise, we are very happy.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. Overall I thought this was a very nice looking place. We actually toured a few (and ended up selecting) Sunrise communities, and were impressed with them in general. The staff all seemed friendly, and the facility itself was clean and well kept.
