Sunrise Senior Living

We really like the care, we did feel that the nursing staff were very attentive to the residents needs and always kept our loved one clean. They wanted to genuinely see our loved one get better. Our loved one came in at what they considered the highest level which include a two person assist and Hoyer lift. After awhile our loved ones health improved and no longer needed the lift and two person assist and with the families involvement every day we would of appreciated if they adjusted the level of care to less and adjusted the price.

This was a good community. It wasn't as open as other family members had wanted for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a super nice experience, it is a nice community. The staff were very friendly and they were able to take us around the community and show us different rooms that were available.

Nothing is perfect but we have been very impressed with Sunrise of Jacksonville. At the moment our loved one does not require much assistance but at times when she does need assistance that staff are right on top of it so that has been very impressing. Our loved one does enjoy the activities - the activities director did get promoted so right now the activities are ran by the residents themselves. The meals and dining service could use a little bit of improvement - they say they have low sodium food but its still very salty.

We're very happy with Sunrise of Montgomery Village so far. The staff are receptive and friendly and have been helpful in making the transition. The facility physically could be a little better but is good overall.

We chose Sunrise of Cary because when we got there for our tour they were prepared, they were very friendly, and we did not feel like we were rushed through it. We got to see everything from the dining room, the activity room, to the residents room. We had interaction with the current residents here as well and they seemed to be happy. It was also very clean and the residents looked more put together. The ladies had their hair brushed the men their beards were trimmed, they all just looked great. It is more expensive than the average cost of an assisted living facility. For us, it is worth the money knowing she is getting the care that she needs. They do have a lot of outings and a very nice outdoor space. They also offer the doctors on demand and in house physical therapy and occupational therapy of which we are taking advantage of. All in all, we are very pleased and she likes it here and considers it home now.

I liked Brighton Gardens of West Orange. It’s a Sunrise facility, as was the place we ended up choosing. The only thing we didn’t like about them was it didn’t have a homey feel to it. It seemed more like a hotel.

For the most part, it's been a very good experience. I think there's a little bit of an issue with communication in certain departments, particularly the medical/nursing department. My loved one says the food is okay. She doesn't really eat meat, and they serve a lot of meat. So she's mostly eating sandwiches. But otherwise, it's a very nice place.

If you can afford it and you like the location you can't wrong with Sunrise of Hermosa Beach. The staff here is sensational. I've never met so many happy, caring, and friendly people in every department. They are having staff changes in the dining room. Sometimes it takes way too long for the residents to get their food, and the food doesn't arrive freshly hot. I believe the community could use more seats in the dining room to accommodate the residents who want to eat in the dining room.

Room for improvement

For the most part the staff members are very friendly and the cleanliness of the community is good. We do see the staff being very helpful to the residents who are unable to help themselves - specifically in the dining room. As far as we can tell the meals are pretty good but the dining service at times can be mediocre, sometimes they are slow.

My 90 year old father stayed here for about [dates removed], after breaking his ankle. He needs support for most of his ADLs and has mild dementia. The staff was friendly and took good care of him. He couldn't figure out how to use his phone, so I'd call the front desk and they would call me on his phone and hand it to him. The food seemed quite decent. The exec director of nursing was amazing. There were some family issues & inappropriate attempts to remove him & she was on top of it, making sure he was kept safe. The facility is very homelike and nice. There were occasionally issues with length of time it took to respond to a call button, but it was during Covid lockdown and I know staffing was tough then.

This was a nice community. It was too far from family to visit and this was the downfall.

I wanted a community that was smaller and not to overwhelming for my loved one. The tour was very good and they gave me all of the information that I needed it was just not the environment that I was looking for for my loved one.

We went with Sunrise of Annapolis because they were able to accommodate my loved ones needs here at the time while others could not. The room sizes are just fine. Sometimes it does take a while for the staff to answer when she pushes the call bell, but all of the staff here have been extremely friendly. Overall I would recommend the facility to other families looking.

The tour at Sunrise of Hunter Mill was great. The person who did the tour was very knowledgeable and gave us all the information we needed to make a decision. I just didn’t like the location or the facility itself as much. It felt more like a nursing home.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a very positive experience, the person who gave the tour was excellent. However the rooms were just a little tighter and smaller, and the community was just a little older. It felt homey but just did not have that brightness to it

Sunrise of Five Forks' memory care unit is one of the best in the area that I know of. They have a new director, so before registering you may want to ask about personnel changes and billing.

We toured Brighton Gardens of Edison and it was a good tour. We saw the residents out coloring, reading, watching tv, and getting ready to participate in a group activity. We ultimately chose another community because it was a bigger, so there was more space for the residents.
