Likes - friendly staff, they call me with concerns they see about my dad. Opportunities for improvement - staff did not return calls to LTC insurance provider, causing delays in the initial claim which I needed to sort out. Food is OK but not as exceptional as staff seems to think it is.

I would tell others to ask how long they can stay with them..not just in their room, but like in the dining area and other areas..even outside. Food, I could suggest that there be a larger variety. Activities, maybe let the residents pick from a variety.

This facility and staff are very welcoming. I think they make a real effort to personalize the experience for residents. The staff are well trained to deal with memory care residents. Parking a vehicle is easy at Sunrise as that hasn’t been my experience at other facilities seen.

I think there is a continued effort to make sure that they are pleasant and helpful at Sunrise Of Gilbert. The company ethic seems appropriate. We do have to observe carefully , as with most any living situation for seniors with impaired abilities. It is evident that some of the basic caregiver do not speak English well and it is possible that they do not read English. Understanding requests or materials usage can be an issue with them. I've had to be watchful of incontinence products use. I've been purchaser so as to save money and because we desire a combination of incontinence products the facility does not offer on their monthly program. The facility cost is particularly expensive at the higher level that my husband would need. But they do not provide all the products we need therefore we do it ourselves. Providing the incontinence products we need can be complicated and it brings on fair usage issues, storage issues, inventory issues, etc. But it's cheaper than their monthly program, which would not serve him. We also provide personal hygiene wipes and gloves as we do not participate in their monthly program. Recently, we have had an issue with what we considered to be missing product. Perhaps overuse, which is unique and new or perhaps "borrowing" which problem we have discussed with the caregiving director. She promised to assist us with that problem. I've had to be cautious re placement of used/soiled clothing thrown across the dinette table, etc. not putting clothes to laundry baskets that I have labeled /assigned. Due to costs our daughter does my husband's street clothing and linen laundry and that kind of thing. The facility includes one load of laundry per week and we reserve that for pajamas they will do emergency clothing as needed. Most of my challenges have to do with day-to-day caregiving, and the casualness or exactitude, which good hygiene might require? Medication/delivery seems very good. I've had to assist with portion control re food, which has improved in quality with the new chef. My husband has gained weight, though he is now choosing to reduce his portions and has lost 7 pounds. Nursing staff may have spoken to him at my request, but this is still a choice on his part. They do not control his food. I find the monthly costs shocking and of course there's been an increase over last year. However, given my husband's needs, I'm not sure I can find a equal facility that is less expensive. His children are convinced that they can. I let them go to it. ? Because I believed that the facilities that your company suggested I consider would have cost about the same, given the services needed, I chose based on clean and pleasant and reliable reputation. There were two facilities who were more expensive and I didn't pursue those because they were luxury based so we didn't care to pay that as it was not in my husband's category of needs. I do suggest to anyone going to any facility that they have family or some sort of spokesperson who is able to monitor closely the needs of the resident --the daily conditions of the resident, and the manner in which the resident is treated medically. I do have a PCP nurse practitioner based company that comes in frequently to perform routine check ups. I do find that the facility has no real interactional business agreement with them. I do have to monitor their services quite closely. The facility has a memorandum of understanding or some such with a Physical Therapy (home health) group. We have had good experiences with cooperating professionals from that company. I do find that keeping a good relationship with each of the directors very much supports what we need to do to keep on top of situations as they arise. I am very pleased with the director of caregivers who trains and manages the caregiving staff. She's an excellent listener and is willing to assist as she can. The nursing staff is more than adequate and they call in our PCP nurse practitioner as necessary. My husband expresses that he is quite happy as long as he has to be in a facility. He feels that this one is doing a good job for him.

Admin Staff but 5 for Nurses. and Assistant Director [name removed] Yes, the Food. More fresh food and less processed. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families.

Friendly atmosphere, felt like a family, other residents were so nice to Dad and us, the staff was with us to the end - some staff came in to pay their respects when Dad passed away. We appreciated their kindness. They would stop in just to say hi to Dad and visit with him. Yes, overall we would recommend Sunrise. But we would not recommend them if your family member is in Hospice. We had big communication problems between them and Hospice. We ended up being in the middle to get things taken care of quite a bit.

The teams were generally friendly and easy to approach. Laundry was done timely but the room itself was rarely cleaned. There are so many charges for a large person on full care, I would encourage people to ask about all of the levels of care before enrolling to ensure no surprises. For example, my father was charged [fee removed] a day for use of the hoyer lift even though he never used it one time. To put that in perspective, a hoyer lift can be purchased for [fee removed]

in the year my aunt has been here she transitioned to the memory care unit which is more expensive than the floor she was on when she first arrived. She now needs more care. However, based on the experience I would recommend Sunrise of Braintree to other families.

Smaller community. Nice homey feel. Nice supportive staff. Everyone was very nice. Contract was explained extremely well.

Be aware of whether laundry, bathing, housekeeping are being done. You might have to speak up for your loved one. The change of environment and schedule can be disruptive to your loved one. Holidays are acknowledged/celebrated. It was nice to see. Everyone was welcoming, positive, happy. It was a good feeling.

Rooms in memory care were generous in size. Food well prepared. I would recommend for someone going into the regular resident part. More planned activities. Kitchenettes are nice.

It is very expensive so i would expect top notch on all categories. Overall the facility is clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Care seems to be appropriate for my Aunt. Although i have not actually eaten at the facility I have had several complaints from my Aunt regarding the quality of the food as well as variety. I understand there are multiple residents but many times she chooses a sandwich once told what is being served Regarding activities they do provide opportunities for outings which is a wonderful thing but when a person is excited to get out and the activity is canceled at the last moment this is not good. This has happened more than once. Outside of the facility events are very important especially to someone who has no mobility and relies on others (wheelchair)

Originally we were looking for assisted living, and choosing based on price, the size of rooms & availability of outdoor space. However, our loved one went directly to memory care which we were not considering at the time. Staff are very kind & caring. There has been very little turnover in the past year.

Very well run, staff is on their game - from admin to care professionals. Activities are engaging. Room size is moderate but sufficient. I would add: probably the priciest of the options we considered, some minor annoyance at nickel/dime (eg "your mom needs Tylenol - you can get some and bring it to her or we can give her 2 pills for $[fee removed])

There are two levels of memory care. Rooms are the same size at every level of care. For example, the studio rooms in memory care are as roomy as the ones in assisted living.

overall Sunrise has been great to us. So friendly and welcoming and responsive. The care has been good but my mom falls a lot and I feel like they don't check in as much as they could. Maybe that's asking too much. My mom has said the staff is bossy and I think they could be more compassionate. Though it's a hard industry I know. She came from having a one-on-one aide so this could just be an adjustment to a facility. I will say the billing department has been horrible. We've had to check and correct every bill. And they have been unable to give us a correct statement that I can submit to LTC. It's really bad. The care for the money is pretty good - but their billing is chaotic. The serving staff in the dining room is really lovely. The food is okay not great. The activities aren't much - they don't look well attended. But they try to do more than just bingo. Their exercise class is putting them in chairs not meant for exercise in front of a tv video. But all in all I feel like my parents are safe, well attended, the staff is friendly to them and to me and they seem to really care.

It's a small place and you don't get lost in the crowd. They need more men.

Most memory care facilities that I looked at had a locked gated outdoor courtyard for residents to freely go in and out of. Sunrise doesn't offer that. Memory care residents can only go outside when accompanied by a staff member or resident's family member. Staff members are mostly busy with regular tasks or scheduled activities and are rarely able to accommodate the residents' requests to simply sit outside for awhile. This simple freedom would be a low cost great way to treat memory care residents with more respect. If/when my time comes to need a senior living facility (assisted living or memory care) , I would like to live at a Sunrise facility.

They all have compassion. That is worth a lot during a stressful time. In general I have a very high opinion of Sunrise Chevy Chase and recommend it highly.

A few staff very familiar with wife's habits! Yes, I would recommend this community to other families! Moved 3 times and we're here for the duration. They don't put up with shenanigans either!
