It was a pleasant community for the 9 months my mother-law-lived there. The staff were caring and compassionate in the memory care unit.

Everyone is very friendly, and Mom generally likes the food. Lots of activities. Our only complaint is that the nurses move floors, so it is hard for them to get to know residents, and vice versa, and staff are leaving. Pay the staff!

I would say that overall it's a good place for an older independent person or couple. I would recommend it. I like that the deposit is refundable, as many communities do not have that feature.There are lots of support services available by contract. Those costs can add up so potential residents need to consider how their needs might change and what resources they have to address those needs, whether family support, services provided by the community or contracted providers.

The facility is lovely, the caregiving staff really seems to care, the admin staff is responsive, and the health partners are professional. The weakest link is the wellness office and medication management.

The move in was pretty flawless. Communication upfront was excellent. Most of the staff is very friendly. The facility does solicit recommendations from the residents, but they fall on deaf ears. They recently have been pulling back on the number of activities. Most residents are upset about this. They recently had a staff turnover on the housekeeping side. Needless to say, the cleaning service went from roughly 15-20 mins per apartment to less than 10 mins. Not ideal. Chef [name removed] really does a great job of trying to make the dining experience great. The quality of the food varies from day to day. The pasta is typically awful. The rent per month also had a major increase for 2024. My mother in law feels it's too high of a price tag. With all that said, I would still highly recommend it. Families have to weigh what features are important to them. We were concerned for her safety and companionship while living alone. Here, we don't have to worry. She is safe and has made many friends. Her sister has also moved into the facility.

My favorite thing about this community is the lovely staff. I’ve been at Brighton Gardens of Edison for 5 years and I just love it. This is home and I would recommend this community to everyone. The food is amazing.

The folks there have been great to work with, although there is a lot of turnover, which can be concerning at times. Mom has been well cared for over the past year.

Sunrise provides very good care for my sister. She has adapted well to her environment and enjoys the activities and entertainment they provide. Care staff is very friendly and provide updates on my sister's health and care. The facility has provided her with the opportunity to socially engage with others and activities that have improved her mental health and overall condition.

I feel like my loved one is safe and they are doing their best. The food is really the only drawback I see. The place is beautiful, they offer a variety of activities, the staff is kind, so she is well taken care of. They have had 3 chefs in the year they've been open, and I'm not terribly impressed by the quality of the food.

Facility is very nice, employees were super friendly and easy to work with, price a little high, but overall service good when they were fully staffed. During our time there it seemed they were always looking for more staff.We picked this location because another family member had been to Sunrise and we thought we were only gonna stay for a few weeks we ended up staying for six months.I would recommend.

Overall experience - Probably better than average for assisted living facilities, and being only 10 minutes from my home permitted daily visits. But my Mom begged every day to go back to her home, and after 7 weeks at Sunrise, I did as she asked and relocated her back to her home with a full time live in caregiver. Cleanliness - Overall very clean. Friendliness - Both staff and other residents were friendly, several exceptionally so. Quality of Care - Pretty good for an assisted living / memory care facility, but not a great fit for my Mom who requires more attention and is a "grazer" in terms of eating habits. Food - Per my preceding answer, my Mom eats several times per day and her tastes vary almost daily, causing her to often decline to eat what she was served causing her to lose weight. I did sample some meals, and I thought they were pretty good overall, maybe a C+ or B- Activities - There did appear to be several interesting activities offered, my Mom wanted to live at home and was demoralized by living in memory care, so she didn't participate in any activities. Value for Money - Especially after moving into memory care, the cost was running about double what I was later able to arrange in terms of live-in full-time care. If Mom had stayed, she would have exhausted her savings in less than a year. In summary, keeping Mom in her home is more economical and healthier for her. That said, I understand that her memory could someday reach a point where home care is no longer feasible. At that point we will reconsider assisted living / memory care.

The only intellectual stimulation is TV. There are only a smattering of men, my loved one did not receive PT until the last two weeks, and that was only because his sister and her husband joined me in confronting the director about all they had not provided to help him recover. Prior to his stay there, my loved one had spent three and a half weeks inpatient at Burke Rehabilitation hospital and he lost ground at sunrise.

Staff more individually engaged than other nursing facilities that I visit. Room sizes generous even for doubles. Allow for extras

The location and staff were the main reason we chose this facility. It is a great place.

It's quite a nice place. I don't love living in an institution, but the staff try very hard to make it nice. They do special meals for holidays. My apartment is very nice. But there's not much space for outdoor activities.

I met with [name removed] today for a tour of the Memory Care unit. [name removed] is very knowledgeable about all facets of Sunrise. I had questions about staffing and their credentials, personalized services, cost and activities. It was refreshing to understand how things work at Sunshine. We also took a tour of the Memory Care unit. It was well setup and had different floor plans. [name removed] made the extra effort to ensure i saw all the different rooms which was very helpful.

My MIL moved in when they opened this facility, and the move happened very quickly. There were several things going on with all of us. Sunrise went above and beyond to help us work through these issues; they even recommended a moving company that was able to help us out for a very quick move. The Dir of the Memory Care unit is excellent, and the woman who heads up the activities in this unit is incredible (her young children also get involved-it's lovely). We had an issue with the director, but she has since left the position. This has been a learning experience for us. MIL gets upset when she sees family, so we do not go over often, and we rely upon staff heavily. They use a SmileApp to keep in touch; it helps, though it has glitches. The billing system is not smooth. And a nasty surprise is that staff does not accompany a resident while the resident is in the ER, but that not a legal requirement in VA. The facility is lovely, thoughtfully laid out, and the food is excellent.

Staff is great except for the accounting office. You have to repeatedly email or call to get an answer from them. We picked this community because of the price, location, and size of the rooms.

I have found the people on the staff wonderful. They are so kind to my mom and are a pleasure to deal with. They communicate very well to me as the caretaker. Mom thinks they could communicate a little better with her. But she is also difficult to deal with so I can see why they come more to me. I'm very happy with sunrise. They are pretty expensive, we spend upwards of [removed] every month. But for this area the value is okay.

My interactions with the staff from my introduction to the community to now working with them as they care for my husband has been very positive. I feel heard and my concerns and requests are addressed respectfully and promptly.
