Sunrise Senior Living

We would rate the colonnades as a 4 out of five. We like our home and have been allowed to make changes to our cottage. Our biggest disappointment has been the lack of information about how the processes and rules operate. We have had to find out from residents who have lived here a long time. Colonnades administration makes changes without consulting with the residents.

The staff was fantastic. Extremely warm and caring. They were a bit overworked, so that could slow things down from time to time. The food was so so. But my mom felt very valued and cared for there

Exactly one year ago, we were facing a difficult situation with my father's health, and we were unsure of his future. However, with your help, we discovered Sunrise, and it has been a transformative experience for him. He has gone from requiring a wheelchair and oxygen to thriving, and is now able to walk with a walker. He has also become an integral part of community activities, such as bingo, exercise classes, game nights, and other social events. The staff at Sunrise truly go above and beyond to create a family atmosphere, and the nursing and tech staff provide excellent care for all residents. My father is particularly fond of the meal options and enjoys spending time with his friends in the dining room. We are so pleased to see my father happy, thriving, and forming meaningful connections with the other residents and staff. Your efforts in connecting us with Sunrise have made a significant difference in his life, and we are grateful for your support. Thank you again for your help in finding the perfect community for my father.

I think they need more staff but the ones they had worked very hard to keep everyone clean and comfortable. I liked most of the food but it was a bit repetitive if you didn't want the special at each meal. had a nice room. Bright and cheerful.

Didn't feel like the care was high enough for someone in their last weeks, but the administration has been beyond accommodating. Very clean and home-like.

Parkwood Estates is a wonderful place to live. It is considered "independent living," but Brightstar Care works with Parkwood to provide care. The idea is to have care as an "à la carte" system within independent living. Brightstar is a 5 in delivering care—fast, capable, and very attentive. Overall, it is a very positive experience. The basic cost of $[removed] for a studio apartment covers meals, entertainment, and a bus that will go to any local destination; all one has to do is sign up for the day needed. The apartments are beautiful, updated, and roomy. Available in studio to 2-bedroom apartments. Every unit has access to a porch or a small outdoor deck. They have a goal they call "aging in place," which is a great vision. However, it probably means adding the cost of CNAs or a nurse's care, which add up fast, if needed. (Which is provided through Brightstar Care.) I'd say Parkwood Estates is equal to assisted living for an active, engaged person. The best part would be to live at Parkwood without needing any skilled assistance while saving for the time when one needs more care at the facility.

They increase there prices for every little thing,like missing pads and diapers which my brother had just stocked the closet with. Overall I would recommend this facility to others looking.

I worked with A Place for Mom to find a place for an elderly aunt. Pueblo Regent was a pretty relaxed place. They were friendly and easy to work with. We were given a tour and they answered all our questions. We felt comfortable that this place would work for our aunt.

Only one man is onsite at night and I don't think he's a nurse. That honestly is the only thing I can think of ... one person being onsite in the evenings wasn't necessarily an issue for us .... also my dad was only at sunrise for 9 days before he passed away. Sunrise is a good company overall I would definitely recommend and they are in line price wise with every other facility

The staff genuinely cares about my Dad. They treat him with empathy and compassion. When there is a discussion to be had about him, I have been pleasantly surprised (shocked!) that the conversation is how WE can act together as a team to make something better for him (compared to his last AL facility where it always felt like they were complaining about him and it was on me to fix him or the situation). I also see the interactions between the staff members with each other. They care about each other and are extremely supportive and work to find ways to help one another. I recently overheard the maintenance crew talking about how to help each other with a difficult situation. It is clear there is collaboration and teamwork throughout the facility and with the families. It doesn't mean there aren't hiccups, but any concerns I've had have been addressed head on by the executive director, [name removed], and his team.

Staff is friendly and helpful during the move in. It has continued throughout our time here. They provide additional help upon request. Eg. 2 hours of help hanging pictures.

I would give The Sunrise a rating of 4 -- it would be a 5 except the food is not very good and there are no transportation services. Staff members are great and the place itself is very nice. My sister has a lovely, spacious apartment, which she likes very much. Something else that is beneficial to residents is that a doctor comes in every Thursday; moreover, blood can be drawn on site and an optometrist visit can be scheduled on site, as well.

The staff is excellent, attentive, fun, and caring. The activities led by [name removed] are the best and the reason for my mom's ability to adjust to her new life. Mom says the food is great! She loves also just sitting in the gorgeous spaces, the porches, the library, and more.

The process from assessment to move in was very smooth. The staff involved were friendly, professional and very helpful. The facility is clean and welcoming. The meal options have a good variety and are served at good temperatures. I would like to see more activities for the residents that would participate and benefit from them.

My sister in law moved over to the [name removed] because she wanted a pool, and larger gym. Also the food menu was more pleasing to her

Overall Sunrise West Essex is a solid place and a good notch above most places in the area for the money. They could use fresher ingredients on the food... maybe incorporate farm to table from local farmer's markets.

Reason we chose Sunrise: Location Cleanliness Staff were very friendly Residents looked very happy and well cared for I would have liked to see 6 months of invoices for a person that was in a similar position at the facility

Most of the staff is Spanish speakers first. You may have some problems there. Transportation to doctors appointments may be a issue. They only run Tuesday and Friday. There's a mileage limitation on that. Most activity are done by 3pm.

I thought the staff was nice and willing to do anything we had asked. The problem is we had to ask way too much about basic things for the money. When we moved my father out we realized there were alot of items missing from his room. For the money staff watches too much tv. Honestly I do not recommend a lot of activities. They did a nice job of "themes" but not activities.

It is a very nice place. It's small, 88 beds I believe, so most people know each other. The rooms are spacious and quite nice. The dining room is lovely, the food mediocre. There are plenty of activities to participate in during the day. Unfortunately now they are short staffed so certain things like trash collection, laundry, weekly showers are a bit behind.
