Sunrise Senior Living

The tour was an absolute joy. The staff were very welcoming and the facility was vibrant. Having the opportunity to see the independent living space and the assisted living (personal care) space was valuable to make an informed conclusion on which would work bet for mom. The restaurant style eating area is a great meeting place for the residents and I saw they take full advantage of the amenity. Taking mom back to see for herself and to make a final decision.

This location looks like a nice hotel with a home feeling. A staff member greeted me as soon as I walked in and offered me something to drink while waiting for the person i toured with.[Name Removed] was very friendly and had lots of information ready for our meeting. She went over the activities for residents, the food options and how each area was secured for each level. We visited the memory care floor and viewed an apartment that recently became available. I met a couple staff members on the floor who were very nice as well. There were some residents sitting in the main living area of the floor, they seemed happy and in good spirits. The location and staff were great but the cost for both patents was more than we can afford.

Staff very nice and the facility is lovely. Costs are rising and more than originally budgeted for. Also staff explanation to my Dad when he asked to leave kind of threw me under the bus. They said that they can't leave because of their daughter. Could have led with discussion of safety etc.

Staff is friendly from what little I'm there so I can't say much else about that. Room size is adequate. When you go from a 2400sq ft home to a 433 sq one bed room apt. that is quite a shock but it is doable. The studios were just too small to spend the rest of your life in. lots of miscommunication on medication management. Not even allowed to have things like Tums in her room or her rescue inhaler. Was not told that on intake

They discontinued shuttle service for medical appointments months ago & that was one of the main reasons I chose Sunrise. Also, they are selling to a new company in a month or so, so that's unnerving.

Nothing else at this time. Admin staff could be more responsive. It often took me multiple calls to get the right person to discuss things.

I don't regret choosing to place my mom in sunrise. For families in my situation where you try to keep them home but they can't walk therefore are in bed all the time and they don't socialize at all this is a better alternative. I like that whenever there is a medical issue with mother they get a doctor in immediately. When my mother was at home I had to wait days because I couldn't transport her myself to urgent care or a doctor. My mother made so many friends and has fun playing bingo, doing chair Zumba, arts and crafts, etc.....My only complaint is that I wish they would hire more aides. Sometimes the residents have to wait a bit to use the restroom or get changed

It's a great option for that price range. I would recommend to others.

Sunrise Westtown is a very nice facility. I'm looking at the monthly expenses information, and unfortunately, my brother's financial budget may not allow not be able to meet the various expense models/options.

When I went on the tour, there was a disconnect between what I was looking for, my timelines and the expectations of the sales staff. This could all have been handled by more questions ahead of time. So many facilities have independent —> assisted —> memory care. This facility has a totally different process for independent. The main entry/dining rooms present really nicely, but there seem to be a lot of condo association rules as to when/how the assisted living residents can use the space.

one lady that cares for my husband isn't friendly at all; seems to be disgruntled sometimes when I ask her for some help for him. I wish there were more staff to help... he often needs help getting down for a nap, but they are busy with lunch. [name removed], [name removed], [name removed]are very nice! All have been except DD. Also, I just got a bill for $[removed]. from EMS because of a trip to the hospital, maybe 3 miles away at most!! That seems absurd!! My purse is very strained with the cost of the facility! Also, I wish there was an intermediary area for residents who aren't so severely affected with their dementia.

They are very responsive and work hard to make residents and family feel welcome. It is easy to get in contact with staff and care arrangements are comprehensive. The building is quite nice also.

Staff are competent, very caring and friendly. When my mom went into Hospice however, the staff seemed to be unaware or to to have difficulty adjusting to the shift in rules to accommodate pain relief. 2) On the first days, we were told the dining room would be given our names to join our mom at dinner. There was no greeting/ guidance and once we found a table it took an hour and a half for us to get dinner. 2nd evening was somewhat better as a server explained they were short staffed. 3)care leaders were hard to reach. Always had to leave v-mail, didn't always get response, turns out they were transitioning personnel. Bottom line I would not move in around the holidays. I was told it was a good time because of events etc. It was not. Fortunately things improved and the outstanding receptionist got us through the scary first days. The day to day care was good and all involved truly have there heart in the right place and provide service with cheerful hearts.

Facility was clean, rooms that I saw were neat, sample menus for meals interesting, the gentleman that talked with us was informative and polite. His name was [Name removed]

The staff is friendly and engaging. They are responsive to concerns too. The facility is clean, I just find carpeting to be a negative in health care settings. The food is mediocre but they are very accommodating in their service.

Very nice. Lots of renovations going on. Should be great in a few months. [name removed] was optimistic about them. I went back for a second look. Capstone is in my top three for independent facilities.

Most of the staff has been very courteous and friendly. My father has enjoyed the meals served here. There have been some scheduling mixups in the first few weeks, but the Care Coordinator has been very responsive to correcting those issues.

Overall experience: My husband is in the memory care unit, so I can't rate the assisted living units. Because my husband has Alzheimer's and is bedridden, he can't participate in any of the activities or even go to have meals with the other patients. I've been told that this will all change once he gets the correct wheelchair. They tell me he needs a reclining wheelchair. For the last two months, he has been in his room continuously with no access to the rest of the unit. Update - my husband received his special wheelchair yesterday and was able to leave his room for the first time in 2 months and eat in the dining room with the other patients. A major improvement. His aides are very nice and cheerful and seem to take good care of him, but he is alone for long periods of time especially on weekends when staffing is short. I have hired a private aide to stay with him at night on weekends. Brighton Gardens, Stamford clean and neat. As I walk through there seems to be a lot of activities for the patients that are ambulatory and not in the memory care unit. One of the things that drew me to Brighton Gardens Stamford was the smiles on everyone's faces, both patients and staff. I didn't see that at any other places I toured.

Facility is beautiful, clean and welcoming. Staff are all universally excellent and caring. Food was good although some wait staff were lacking. My only real issue, and this is no knock on the facility or staff, is that the level of care my loved one required exceeded what the facility could provide. My loved one declined very quickly and was frustrated with response time when he called (via the pendant around his neck) for assistance. He may (or may not) have gotten quicker responses and generally more hands on attention at a skilled nursing place but Sunrise was far more comfortable and he had way more privacy than at a SKF. On the other hand, one hidden perk is they provide free parking beneath the building for visitors. A nice touch.
