Sunrise Senior Living

We chose Sunrise of Willowbrook because we really liked what we heard about the staff. We heard about how good they are and how friendly they are, since we have been here they have really lived up to it. They have a very low turn over rate with the staff; the executive director has actually been working here 13 years. It is located off a busy road but here are houses that shield it from the road. It really has a home like feeling and doesn't give the institutionalized feeling. We are dealing with a couple of issues but they aren't major ones, like had gave donuts for a snack rather then something healthy. Small things like that but the staff really has a very open line of communication and try to help as best as they can. We are very happy with our choice and my loved one really seems happy here.

One of the main reasons we choose the “Sunrise of Palos Park” for mom is because of its location it located close my brother and me. The people are really nice and the community is very clean. Although it is very clean it doesn’t have a hospital or nursing home feel to it, it feels more like a hotel setting than a nursing home. The overall care services provided are pretty nice, and the activities are great. Mom stays pretty busy with the activities that she likes like when they all get together just for a social or when they play bingo, the people even come and get mom to remind her of the activities that they know she likes. The food is good also, they eat in the dinning room but instead of it being like a cafeteria they actually sit down at a table and can order the food they want from a menu. So it’s more like a restaurant with a good amount of Varity than a cafeteria. Mom also likes going to the on site beautician, she gets her hair done every Friday. My brother and I made a good decision in choosing “Sunrise” for my mom. She is happy their.

I chose Sunrise at Five Forks for my loved one because they have a Memory Care services in addition to offering Assisted Living. When I visited I saw that they could handle patients in the between stages of assisted living and needing memory care services. I thought the transition would be easiest if my loved one ended up needing memory care. Other homes I visited were very low functioning for memory care services. I have had a problem with their billing system, and have been frustrated with the lack of communication from the accounting department. I received a very confusing bill and when they did not follow through with their end of the payment collection no one called to tell me there was any issue with what we had set up. It doesn't feel good to receive an extremely large and confusing bill in the mail. I've found it hard to get someone to return my calls and those I do talk with say they willl follow up but haven't. The bill I received invoices for July, however, it was explained before moving in that my loved ones needs would be assessed every month so we wouldn't be paying for unnecessary services. I am not happy about the whole matter and hope that this will get resolved soon by their accounting department.

We chose Brighton Gardens because my siblings and I all liked it. We found the staff to be very friendly, it's close to where I live so I can visist frequently. I have not tried it but have heard the food is fine. I would recommend Brighton Gardens to others.

Very pretty from outside - great location.

After touring four other group homes/facilities and calling several others we decided on Sunrise of Silver Spring for mom because of it's proximity and care services offered. The intial cost estimate was projected to be lower than it actual is, we and the staff were hoping that mom wouldn't need the highest cost care package that she is currently receiving. So, if you are looking to move a loved one anywhere, I recommend checking out their most expensive package, in case you and the staff assess it is needed after your loved one moves in. There have been a few glitches, or miscommunications, there was a move in fee that wasn't expected, but overall we have been pleased with Sunrise and the staff is very caring with the residents.

After contacting A Place for Mom, a representative from Sunrise of Cascade contacted me and offered a tour within a very short time so we could evaluate the facility and decide if it was the right place for our Mother who has dementia and couldn't stay in the senior apartment she has lived in for the past 10 years. We thought Sunrise of Cascade was the perfect place for her. She would be safe and most of all happy. It has been hard for her to move away from her friends, but her disease is progressing and we know she will learn to like this new home.

I chose the Sunrise of Flossmoor because they are very friendly and I feel they give quality care. It is a small environment which I felt would be a good fit for my father.

My mother has been at Sunrise for a little over a week. Everything is going well.

Staff is attentive and seem to work well with residents. Staff know residents' names. Monitor residents throughout the night. Dog on site--a comfort to many. Hallways provide a place for residents to "hang out" if they don't want to stay in their rooms. Does not have a medical or nursing home facility feel (a plus).

I have found every member of the staff to be very supportive with the well being of my wife. If we ask for something it is done immediately and with a smile. Her medication is still changing and the nursing staff and the pharmacy respond immediately to these changes. Highly recommend this facility.

the staff is very stable - I've seen very low turnover in 2.5 years. They are patient and caring in working with both the residents and families. I could wish that their physical exercise classes were a bit more energetic for the residents who could use it, but the mental exercises - word games etc are great. they are pet friendly which also adds to the interactions available. The menus are tasty and varied.

Make sure if there's no other way to get to a doctors appointment that there is not an activity going on to interfere. This is where my brother lives and he is somewhat of a loaner so we can't get much out of him. He seems to be OK with where he's at.

The staff, the residents, and the price is why I chose them. I would recommend it. It isn't perfect there are changes that could be made.

I would say overall experience is 4 stars. The staff is great. And supper helpful very easy to work with. There are lots of activities for my dad to do. He said the food is ok. And the grounds are kept well. Had a few problems with the apartment when he first moved in but they were fixed quickly. Overall a good experience.

I only needed room and board from Sunrise and assistance with bathing. They met those needs although some meals could have been better. My therapists came from outside so I can't speak to those services. The staff were very nice and caring.

This is a difficult transition period for many in this situation and the staff was very helpful very accommodating and their units are spacious especially the two bedrooms and they have more of them which you won't find at many other facilities... this has been a very good solution for us so far!

Positive-Happy staff, very caring, great medical oversight Negative-many clothes lost despite name on all, she has many clothes that show up in closet, not hers, no name in them. Dressed in those clothes even though 3 sizes too small.

The different levels of care and how it can affect your payments as their care changes. So make sure you communicate with the staff. The faculty and staff are very helpful and friendly. They are accommodating and the facility is safe and clean. They do have menu posted which is very appetizing and healthy. There is a nurse on staff and available if you have questions concerning your love ones. They do keep the residents engaged in daily activities.

One red flag is that they sent my mom and several others a notice that they owe a [Amount Removed]"move in fee" - she moved in 8 months ago - that they "accidentally marked as a credit on her ledger instead of charging" Seems like either an error they should own up to and eat or a bid to get more money randomly. Also the elevator has had several episodes of getting stuck. The staff seems caring and kind. The chef is great. My mom wishes there were more fresh options but the chef does his best with what he's given. There are open vents in the ceiling of the hallway that have sometimes had insulation coming out - not great. The hallway carpets could use a good cleaning. They have fun movie nights, card games, exercise class, book club and group outings to hear live performances etc. overall my mom is doing well there and has made some nice friends.
