Sunrise Senior Living

Everyone there is nice and caring. Although sometimes not all on the same page. Sometimes we get different answers from different people regarding my mother and how she is doing. The room is small but nice. They could do a better job with cleaning. My mom isn't a very social person and I wish they would give her more guidance and encouragement. Overall I think Sunrise is a great facility.

The staff is very helpful the manager acts nice but it's fake. The apartment size is good they offer laundry service which is nice food is good with a lot of choices. Activities are good with lots of choices although my dad doesn't do much but you can. The neighborhood is also very nice.

We're having a good experience with Sunrise Senior Living in East Setauket. Very professional environment under the able guidance of Executive Director [name removed]. Robust social programs are offered to the residents. Food is very good.

The staff is awesome! The facility is nice, clean, new and feels like home. It does not feel sterile or hospital like. There are good variety of activities and menu.

Overall staff are friendly, attentive, and competent. Food is adequate, but my wife's dietary preferences aren't always met. My major problem has been that communication has not always been good. After 59 plus years, I still am very much into her care and have a need to be informed and involved with what is happening to her. This has not always happened, but I think they now realize my need for better communication.

The caregivers are awesome. There are plenty of them to care for your loved one. The med techs are great. Only negative is the food. The variety is not great. The caregivers also work the dining room and take orders and give out meals. The dining room needs an update. Could be more activities. To me the most important is the taking care of my loved one. They get them up, cleaned, dressed and brought down to breakfast by 8a. Very attentive to my loved one.

The administration is great, very caring and attentive and really tries above and beyond. They can improve on activities that challenge the handful of still very aware residents

The facility was clean and bright. I feel like it was lacking in additional rooms and spaces for the residence to gather. The rooms were generous and size. I was not fond of the fact that they locked up shampoo and toothpaste, etc. This was something that really agitated my father when he was living there. Compared to other residences, we looked at this was a definite four out of five. My dad was in respite care for about 26 days. I'm not sure if the aids don't make as much of an attempt on short term residence. But I was very pleased with the facility and very happy that I was able to get my dad into memory care for the short amount of time he was there when I needed it. Everybody was very helpful And I really like the staff.

They do a great job of keeping her engaged in activity's. I would recommend to others

I think sunrise is a good place for my sister. The staff is great and have been with the place for a long time. The apartment is spacious and my sister is very comfortable there. She said that sometimes the food is very good, but sometimes she prefers to eat in her apartment.

Staff is pretty long term employed, this tells me they enjoy working here and compensation and conditions are favorable, otherwise as people we vote with our feet

Staff is great, very helpful and friendly. Food is good (per my dad). He started in an assisted living medium studio- plenty of room. Currently in a small studio in memory care - a little tight, but that's what was available. My only knock is communication- we have to pursue them to get updates on how he's doing. If they were to address that, they would get 5/5. Some of it may be due to the medical director leaving, she hasn't been replaced yet.

My husband and I toured this facility about 3 times. On 2 occasions I took my Mother who we were looking to reside here. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Because it was close to the end of the month, I am sorry the numbers presented could not be extended for the upcoming month so we could consider if we would be able to financially move forward.

My mom's studio apartment is good sized and well laid out. Staff is attentive and friendly. Pricing is very affordable.

My parents major complaint is the restaurant staffing. The food is fine, but there are not enough servers. Probably a common problem at many food establishments. Friendly community with many options for onsite activities and transportation to other location. Doctor offices, grocery stores , etc.

Staff is great. The facility isn't the cleanest, and I need to check the billing statements with a fine tooth comb and constantly advocate or they just bill away. (For instance) he has orders for meds that are PRN that he never takes. He is given one pill at bedtime every night and for that they charge him $[removed] /month. I find that outrageous learning today that he can self administer. (As he is not cognitively impaired).

We made multiple appointments with the director. The first appt no one was available even though we made an appointment. The 2nd visit we were passed off to a knowledgeable staff member but he was unable to answer several of our questions and no one ever followed up with us. The final visit scheduled once again with the director, we were again passed off to the same person as last time and still no follow up after the visit. The facility is fine and I expect the care is good but we will never know. Very disappointing.

As I am experiencing the move of my parents it was rather disorganized for their arrival. I had a contact for initial needs but day of move in was extremely difficult to find anyone in charge to answer questions. We needed room keys, keys for mail and back door. There is currently no labeled parking space for the car. As they have been paying for the last two months to hold the space, giving plenty of time to prepare for their arrival. Unfortunately the continental Breakfast is lacking in variety. The staff has been very friendly and opportunity for activities are clearly posted. I am hoping with the following will open up dialogue for improvement.

The food is not the best. The room is great.

What we like the most about the community is the The caring staff and the friendly residents. Yes, we would recommend Sunrise of North Lynbrook community to other families based on the experience so far.
