I moved my parents into RWV Hollymeade [date removed], care never matched what we signed up for in the contract (highest care is 3 in AL which is what we had at $1220/month extra). I learned the hands on staff did not even know about level of care but went by care plans that took way too long for the one person doing them to get them done and were never updated if a resident's health changed. I only ever got 2 care plans for my parents and both of their health degraded during the 6.5 months they were there. I even argued with one of the few nurses they had on staff who said my Mother did not get level 3 care. It took the lady who wrote the care plans to stop the argument with the nurse, who did later apology for it. The food is horrible and stuff I would never recommend giving to a senior or anyone else for that matter. It is high calorie and salty. Ice cream for desert and lots of bacon for breakfast was mostly what they served. I tried unsuccessfully to change this the entire time my parents were there because my mother has no gall bladder and my Dad has a stent. It was on their plates the morning I finally got access to their room with the police's help after covid. The management is just awful. I tried several times unsuccessfully to resolve issues with the care of my parents. The last day they were there I tried to get the nurse on duty and the executive director (who is suppose to be a nurse as well) to give my Mother the correct dosage of medicine to control her nausea and vomiting she had been sent home with from the ER. They both had no idea what that correct dosage was suppose to be or if she had received it. They forced me and my parents to wait outside in the heat while they searched to find out and then did not know what to do when she was still sick. I decided that day to take both of my parents out of their care. My Mom went back to ER by ambulance that day and my Dad moved in with me. The executive director tried to provoke me to hit her when I would not allow her to take my sick Mother back into her building where I would not have been able to monitor my Mother's health and see if she got better. She even called the police on me after I left following the ambulance to ER to report me. The staff will promise you that they can do so much to take care or your parents and deliver on none of it. There is suppose to be a doctor that comes on site which I originally signed up for but because he never bothered to see my parents when they were experiencing health issues and only ever sent his NP, I decided to switch to a geriatric doctor not affiliated with the facility. The on site dentist is also something I was promised that never was seen, so I got my parents an appointment to see a dentist not associated with the facility. This is when the RWV staff tried to stop me from taking my parents to the dentist by saying they were in covid isolation because my Mom went to ER. All of my Mom's ER visit documents from the hospital were given to RWV but they claim they did not see the document that showed she had been tested for covid and was negative. I had to fight with the staff to take my parents to the dentist. Mostly they let me know that dental wellness was not important enough to them during covid times. Hopefully everyone is aware that a lot of health issues can be related to bad dental hygiene and seeing the dentist is very important for your overall health. I was with my Mother when the dentist picked a lot of food out of her mouth because no one was assisting her with brushing her teeth. This is one of the things they listed as level 3 care that we never received. The day I decided we had experienced enough of the bad care from RWV is when my Dad woke me up to tell me the staff was fighting with him to reset his pendant that he had set to get someone to help transfer my Mother who cannot walk from her wheelchair to her comfortable chair to sit in to eat. There is way too little staff at this place to take care of all the residents. There are residents living in AL that probably should not be there. I learned my Mother was one of those people. But it was not RWV that told me, I learned it the day the police finally got me back into their room and I found vomit on her wheel chair, around her comfortable chair and on and around her bed. She had been vomiting for a month or so and even put to bed sick. When I moved her out of RWV she had pneumonia that was found on one of her 2 trips to ER in a week. This is all during covid and family could not enter the building. The only way to monitor was from over 6 feet a way and only for 30 minutes at a time for a maximum of 3 days a week. I had stupidly put my trust into the staff at RWV that they would make me aware of any serious issues with my parents' health or if my Mother's dementia had gotten to the point that AL was not the right place for her. I am still waiting on that conversation. It is my belief that RWV is putting the renting of AL rooms above the well being of their residents. There is no way my Mother could have been taken care of adequately by no more than 2 aids on the floor where there are others in the same shape she was in. Before covid my Mother was still walking some, eating on her own, talking, and still able to take care of a lot of her daily needs. When she left RWV, I never saw her walk, eat on her own, take care of any of her own daily needs again. She talks very little and usually just phrases she has stuck in her head. My Dad's health degraded as well but he is coming back in my home. He was weak and could not walk much from being locked up in his room due to covid response. They wouldn't even let him use the one bike they had on premises to work out. I guess they did not want to spend the time to sanitize it between resident uses. Now he is walking again at my house and holding my Mother's hand waiting on her to draw her last breath. It was questionable before covid if AL facilities were a good idea. After covid it is obvious that AL facilities are NOT a good idea for taking care of the elderly. They need way more regulating than they currently have. The reason they got away with what they did to my parents and probably others is that there is no one or nothing to regulate what they are doing. The staff taking care of the elderly in these places are not qualified to handle the health care needs of the residents. I learned this the hard way.

I don't recommend Rosewood Village at Hollymead. My father fell and broke both hips in this facility when exiting the showers. While slips can happen it's important to understand my father yelled for help for over 45 minutes naked and in the splits position and even when help came they couldn't help him up and had to call the squad. Rosewood then called me to say he fell was in some pain, but was okay just going to the ER as a precaution though he broke both hips and died briefly during surgery from the trauma. The accident was in February mid-day and took till May before Rosewood would provide a copy of the accident report as every time I asked they said he signed a night waiver so they wouldn't check on him even though it was during the day. When I came to the facility to get some personal belongings days after I also found script bottles openly displayed for fluid pills and random pills laying around which is odd as my father didn't handle his meds only Rosewood did and we paid for that service. When they were asked they had no comment. Ask yourself if everything was on the up-and-up with Rosewood would they wait till [date removed] to provide an accident report from an accident on [date removed] that was asked for days after the incident happened and then over-and-over for months. After months of dealing with Rosewood and even asking for some financial consideration on the rent as I had to pay for two care facilities now, they simply referred to the night waiver as a security blanket and said there policy is only to waive laundry & meds after a couple of weeks which also took them months to do. After getting nowhere I had to find a new residence for my father as well as creating public awareness about the issues we encountered.

We had to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives placing my father into a memory Care unit. Ultimately it was the right decision for the place he was at with Alzheimer's. Spring Arbor assured us they were equipped to handle any situation. Please note you really only speak with sales folks that have nothing to do with direct care. Spring arbor looks lovely and when we moved my father in it had a wonderful director that was hands in and helped bridge gaps. [Name removed] took over last June and it has been a nightmare since. Her direct quote "although spring arbor looks asthetically pleasing we are not equipped to deal with many of our residents to the therapeutic needs if those individuals" it is so difficult to make this sort of decision for your loved one and I hope this review helps. Too often you don't truly know what the facility has to offer before you are moved in. Pay attention to the smells and how the residents look and are taken care of. Especially the make patients. Visit throughout the day. All the activities they list- I rarely ever saw any of those occuring. It is dark quiet. Staff often sitting in chairs on their phones. My father hadn't been shaved in months after having care plan meeting after.care.olan meeting. And he is very functional and independent Look at the food as well and accomodations of all the residents. We just moved my father out of state to a facility I am so thrilled.with. We really didn't know how bad this situation was until we moved.him out. I hope this helps at least one other family. Best of luck on this hard endeveor. There is good care. Keep looking.
