Spring Arbor Senior Living

My Husband and I were VERY impressed with the over all tour of Windsor Manor in Grinnell Iowa. When we took My Mother for her visit it was truly a wonderful experience for HER and us. Mom's comment was "I'm NOT going to MOVE from my present apartment. I'm happy here, and like it." SHE was totally not for a tour needless to say a move. We toured on Tuesday afternoon, and she told us she would move. I didn't let her even think it over. Packing up her old apartment started that afternoon and we moved her the following Saturday. The FOOD is very tasty, people are SO HELPFUL, offer to help us in any way they could. Mom has been there for 1 month and is TOTALLY Happy. My family is so HAPPY and PLEASED with every thing and everyone. We are very THANKFUL and Lucky to have this kind of assisted living area for our loved ones. I am and will continue to promoted Windsor Manor----We are at the age where our friends have parents at the age of needing this kind of wonderful facility. I would be more then happy to talk to any one considering assisted living for their love ones. Giving Mom a beautiful wreath for her door made her so HAPPY and WELCOMED.

Carol Hull was GREAT - and was caring and attentive during the difficult process. We did select one of her recommendations and it was very good. Sadly, my father passed away this week, but he was able to spend his time well taken care of. Also, wonderful team at this facility - truly caring and helpful.

We recently placed John (Parkinson's and dementia) and his wife, Jane, (profound dementia) at The Shores of Lake Phalen. They had been in independent senior living for several months (many issues) and were moved to Shores in April, to assisted living. Still many issues. Shores advised Memory Care where they are now. Now they are closely supervised and guided. Nurses manage their meds, and they have the in-house Bluestone medical program. We are very impressed and grateful for the compassionate leadership from all the staff at the Shores.

My loved one passed and is no longer at the facility but what we liked the most about the community was their friendliness and patience. We would recommend Spring Arbor of Sandhills to other families.

Overall it was positive from management to most of the employees. [name removed] (director), [name removed] (RN), [name removed] (nurse), [name removed] (marketing), 3 of the caregivers, and the chef were all so kind, helpful and supportive. Hospice was amazing. A couple of the front desk ladies were not welcoming at all. We almost left before we even spoke to [name removed] about admissions because of how rude the front desk lady was. A few of the caregivers acted like we were bothering them or interrupting them, especially when they were on their phones. Not helpful at all. It was just a job to them, not something they were passionate about. Response times, keeping the room clean, and trash emptied were lacking.

They are very accommodating and always willing to help. Everyone is kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The place is also very clean and well maintained, and you can tell they care about providing a comfortable environment for the residents.

It's a smaller facility where the benefit is that the staff truly gets to know each resident and family member personally. My parents are well cared for, and I can be confident that if I am not able to visit or be with my parents, they are in capable and caring hands. In my opinion, where no facility will ever be perfect, I believe we chose the best living option for my parents needs.

What we like the most about the community is that they know who the residents are and call them by name and yes, we would recommend White Springs Senior Living to other families.

The tour was great but they do not have any private rooms. The building was not updated. Staff friendly. There was a waiting list. Only room available is a share room. Where the elderly is now , it is a lot nicer and less cost. She currently in NC assisted living.

What we like the most about the community is that the staff make my Mother feel loved. The young girls and guys that wait on her daily treat her like she is special. They keep her room clean and they allow her to keep the temp at what she pleases.

We initially chose his facility due to first good impressions and the great location. The facility is good but it lacks a culture of excellence.

It's a lovely place. My husband's parents are adjusting well and participating in a number of activities, and are receiving good care. It's only been about [time frame removed}, but so far so good.

My mom was only there for two weeks but I would send her there again The facility is very nice, central location and the staff are involved and kept my mom engaged.

Location, atmosphere, overall standards and environment.

The managers are extremely caring and dedicated. They made the entire move in process smooth. Both my mom and sister with open arms, and they were extremely responsive to questions I had. Facility itself provided an excellent option for both my mom and sister to continue living together while also having their own small, private spaces. There were some challenges transferring prescriptions and medications, especially for my sister, who has a seizure disorder. It took longer to settle those than I would have liked, but I don't think that is anyone's fault. As with other assisted living facilities with which I have some experience, I am concerned about differences between weekday and weekend staffing. Specifically, I wonder about turnover and overall staffing levels. But I know that some turnover and short staffing are concerns throughout the industry. I am confident that Spring Arbor's management is aware of those kinds of challenges. With respect to food, I have not eaten there, myself. But my mom and sister report the food is generally very good, and there are options in case they don't like what is on the menu.

Spring Arbor and Homewood were our top two choices. SA had availability when we needed it. Have had some issues with the "bulk account" for TV, which is included in the cost and provided by Comcast. The "boxes" are old and prone to problems. Also had hassles getting a landline phone installed as no one at SA knew what to do (how to work with Comcast). Staff are friendly and helpful in general.
