They take better care of the assisted living area and residents better than the memory care residents.

The facility common areas are very nice and homie feeling. There are great spaces to visit with family and friends apart from the individual apartments. The service in the dining room is very slow and one has to be very patient in waiting for all food to arrive... while the staff is friendly, I believe they're doing their best. Bottom line, they are understaffed. At Gardens of Ocotillo in general, it feels like all areas of housekeeping are understaffed because things just don't get done without a lot of nagging or prompting. Regarding the staff, my mom claims that they are always very kind and respectful... somewhere harder than others, but they are always good to her

To be honest' my experience was only 9 months. My mom had Alzheimer's and passed away there. The facility and staff were good but the overall experience was not what I had hoped. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be as helpful for my mom as I thought it would be. No one's fault but the disease.

Let me start that [name removed] would not be happy anywhere! She wants to be in her own home, ( not going to happen). . CNAs could be a little more attentive, always in a hurry. I would recommend this community to others, it is small enough that you feel comfortable, don't get list in the crowd. Thank you for your service to others

It was a nice place and the residents were nice, but they didn't really do what they told me they were going to do and my aunt was unhappy so I had to move her out after just 2 1/2 weeks

The rooms and facilities were great . Some of the staff were too impatient with the residents and did not always respond in a timely manner. The food did not always agree with the resident's diet restrictions.

the housekeeping is not to the level that they tell you. and there is a check in button they said the residents press everyday but that is not accurate at all. the staff listens to the residents about their concerns and needs and they are kind. they hired a new event coordinator and she is doing a good job hosting events that are high interest

I am answering for my aunt who passed away in March. She was there 6 months. The good was hood until the chef quit and then it was not. When she entered there was a daily check in system for independent living. That went away so there was no longer a safety net. In February she fell and laid on the floor for 5 hours before a maintenance man heard her. An ambulance was called. I did not receive a call from the facility but ftom the ambulance crew. My aunt died without going back to Green Oaks. Nobody from the facility ever reached out to me. Would not recommend this facility. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was nice enough but detached. As a family member I was increasingly uncomfortable with safety issues and we were beginning to explore other options for her prior to her fall and subsequent death.

He loves his apartment but is unhappy with the food. He says a lot of the food is unhealthy and they run out of the specials super early. He has also said there is a high turnover rate with staff.

The rooms and environment are nice. The food is great. However, more staffing is needed.

The staff was friendly. My dad did not take advantage of the activities. He complained about the food being bland. I think it would be great for someone who did not assistance in their day to day living and could take full advantage of all this community had to offer. That was not my dad's case.

Poor communication and response to emails. Lack of protocol from staff in contacting family members when incidents occur.

The staff in the front office has been kind and helpful. They are just struggling in the kitchen, which is a very important aspect of these types of facilities. If there was a title to give the review, I would put "needs a lot of help in the kitchen/food". Had we known this was a struggle we probably would not have chosen this place. But I do know that they are aware of it and they're probably working on trying to remedy it.

I would score higher on 1 and 8 but we had to pay the entire month of her stay plus the one time activity fee that she never used due to being bedridden. So it was about $[removed]for 8 days. So for us, there was no value, had we known she was so deteriorated we would have kept her in the previous facility. Had she stayed there longer it's a great place and a good value. They gave us about $[removed]back and that's it. But we signed the contract so it was our loss. Otherwise it's a beautiful place. I would not recommend for someone near end of life. It is a good place wish we knew about it sooner we. Very clean and accommodating it's just that our timing was bad

They - like everyone else have shortage of staff and there are many days I spend lots of extra time w/mom. They are fed well, most of the staff is kind & caring. They do try activities. They also make an effort to have residents not sit in their room but come to common areas. They need more aides

Food is the biggest complaint. Inconsistency in food quality and waiting staff is my concerns. Facility is adequate. Senior staff is all corporate. Staff is friendly but consistency of food quality and service is troublesome.

Rents increase significantly each year ($[removed]+ this year), yet the services provided (emergency services and staffing) are being taken away. Imagine elderly residents having to try to "save" other residents because staffing has been reallocated and common areas are no longer monitored for dangerous situations or likely accidents. Its unfortunate that the caring staff at these facilities have their hands tied by the corporate greed and willingness to toss out the old to make room for the new. It was just last year that my review of a spectrum community was given an excellent rating. It is unfortunate that they cancelled essential services and raise the cost to live their, so significantly.

We moved my mom to High Point about 3 months ago, selecting the facility based on location, cleanliness, and commitments to and "always open" dining room. We truly like everyone we have dealt with at the facility (although the dining room does have restrictions on when my mom can eat). There is onsite therapy through a 3rd party that has been a godsend for my mom. The issues I have are that we had problems on our initial invoice, and not only are most of them still not resolved, the subsequent invoices have duplicated some of the issues compounding the problem. At this point, there are about $[removed] in charges I have been told will be refunded, but still have not been after 3 months. From my mom's perspective, she has told us that the residents complain that the food doesn't change much from week to week, so she is very tired of eating the same things over and over. Also, while they have a shuttle bus out front, there are very few outings, only internal activities.

I was told to pay for the appt. and I would get money back when I left. I not only did NOT get my refund when I left, I had to go there repeatedly trying to get more than $[removed] refunded to me. I will never go back there again as long as the same people are running the place. For me it was a good location and I had the littlest appt. It was just fine.

My mom moved in 1 year ago. It’s a beautiful building however services have gone downhill. We were quite pleased in the beginning however due to the facility downsizing staff it has greatly affected their efficiency. The food quality is described by the residents as ‘sometimes edible’. The portions are extremely small. Based on the amount of rent, this should be minimum a 4 star place for these seniors to live. Their occupancy rate is quite low and understandably so.
