My friend lives here and all is well except for the food. I visit often and usually stay for dinner. The food is terrible. The residents complain to no avail. This should not happen as one of the things the residents look forward to are their meals. To some it is the only thing they have to look forward to. Please check this out before considering for your loved one.

We aren't sure who wrote some of these other reviews but it doesn't seem possible. The food Is horrible daily, the staff shared with us that they lost their holiday bonuses this year and now lost their health insurance benefit they counted on. The staff aren't staying long enough to even learn our mother's name. When we arrive to visit from out of town, the newest administrator seems disconnected , unfriendly and staff tells us only concerned with making money. Looking elsewhere. People living here are really getting upset. Reality is not going in the right direction serving our elderly.

There was an odd odor

Our mother lived at amberleigh for years before she had to move to the assisted living. It was operated with very fine leadership and the service promises were kept. The director and her managers were honorable and always approachable. The sales pitch wasn't our favorite part but phoney sales is seen everywhere these days. In the assisted living we became unhappy and services were questionable. The DON wasn't happy, tired all the time and the weekend nurses were scarce. The food went down too. Used to be very good , now no longer. Some good some ruined it.

Our mother lived at amberleigh for a few years before moving to the assisted living area. A nice Place for Mom advisor helped us. Now, we've seen the DON unhappy, tired all the time and not helpful. The weekend nurses were scarce and staffing was bare bones before we moved her out. The food went downhill lately too. New managers seen behind closed doors avoiding residents and staff. No longer able to recommend. Some good people others ruined our experience.

Under no circumstances place a loved one in this facility. I have a relative that lives here. The food is awful. No choice even when the food arrives it is NOT as advertised. Food does not in any way shape or form resemble the blown up description. Sometimes it isn’t the food ordered. “ We ran out is the common excuse”. What an insult to these residents. The new director seems to be cutting food costs in order to meet a shrinking budget or she is trying to rise to the top and get noticed by the main office. Thing break down in the apartments and it may take hours to get things fixes. Even in the sweltering heat this summer air conditioner breaks down and it took so long to fix the health of the resident was at risk. Out of fear of retaliation I will not mention the source. My relative is unable to afford other facilities. And she is unable to move. Things need to improve.

Residents are seen sleeping in the entrance and the corporation is more bent on Athletics like new furniture than safety measures. We saw siding falling off a balcony and a hole in the driveway ! Good staff have left that are replaced with cold customer service. Units are old, falling part and aging. Our last tour a year ago when first visited was friendly and clean. When returned again, very disappointing.

Since the Executive Director has recently left, the community has gone down hill. The staff is seen and heard gossiping at the front desk, the food is scarce activity staff do not visit or get involved with the residents like they used to. Our mother is unhappy and looking to move soon. The corporation has let the building supervision go and only care about how pretty is looks.

This place has mostly great nurses and aides. The facilities problem is that the Director should not be in her position, she never comes out of her office and when she does her dog comes running out down the hallways and almost knocks over residents that are walking around including my mother. I like that we can bring pets into the facility but we are told they need to be on a leash and I think she should have to do the same. Can I also mention that the assistant director of nursing is very rude and unprofessional as well, she should be so embarrassed the way she talks. She is always talking down to her employees and I would never let anyone talk to me like that. It's a beautiful facility and could be a good one but management needs work, alot of work. They dont know what professionalism, respect, or kindness is and that's truly sad if you are wanting to send your loved one there.

My dad was treated terrible at this place. I feel bad that I didn't take him out sooner than I did. The people trying to get me to sign on the dotted line were very friendly, but the actual caregivers were cold, unfriendly, and unhelpful. The care was horrific. The staff seemed to be completely unaware of the needs of a person with dementia.

This establishment owes my 80 year old mother $8000 and won't even extend her the courtesy of a return phone call. How is this ok?

Don’t let the decor fool you. The care in the memory care unit leaves much to be desired. Residents wander in and out of others’ rooms. Residents are frequently given the wrong medications or meds are missed or given in the wrong dosage or not discontinued per the doctors orders. The staff always passes the blame to another when a mistake is made, particularly to agency nurses working there. The agency nurses can’t answer questions except to say, I don’t know, I’m just an agency nurse. The turnover in staff is ongoing and there is never any staff around when you need them. They do not answer emergency call buttons in a timely manner, if they answer at all. They do not return phone calls to family members. They do not do much of anything that they promise. And all this for almost $6000 a month!!!!

these people are complete incompetents. I wouldn't leave my dog with these morons

My parents live at the Harrison and the Director ignores the family. We have been asking for copies of the medications and times given, to ensure they have them correct and the facility refuses to provide. They know the children are their Health Power of Attorneys, Financial Power of Attorneys and are the responsible party who signed the lease (copies are on file with the establishment). They also refuse to remove unnecessary items from their assessments that run the billing higher, such as waking them up, using hearing aids, making the beds, bathing reminders, etc., the family and hired companions take care of all this. Management is very unprofessional, we have asked many times what is needed to accomplish these tasks that we have not already provided and still no response. We continue to ask today.

Used to be a nice place a year ago. Lots of staff turnover and many services were cut back even though they increased the rent. The food selection can't be considered healthy anymore, very salty even though they are supposed to be a salt free facility with healthy food selections. They used to have 2 main choices at meal time. Now there is only one entree or the a la cart burger or chicken. Activities for residents have been slowly eliminated. Rather than complain about the food and the services many residents have left recently because they fear retaliation

I have a close friend I visit here weekly. Neither she nor I would recommend this place for several reasons. They do not have a dietician on staff. They serve bacon and donuts for breakfast, Too much fried food and an overabundance of starches. There are no selections for diabetics, that is no sugar free desserts etc. The menu is mostly Mexican as is the cook. They are consistently short on aids. Being a CNA is not a requirement and they have a constant turnover in staff and little "hands on" training. If you are looking for a home with assisted living for your family member......this is NOT the place.

Very dissapointed. No one showed up to meet me for our scheduled tour. One of the staff said there are no managers working on weekends. We walked around a bit on our own to check out the facility and were not impressed. Very few staff could be seen. Not very good security, as strangers are allowed to walk freely around with not even a glance from the employees.

Toured this facility with my dad after having a family member live here a couple of years ago. I was very disappointed. The urine odor was extremely strong upon entering the building. The man who toured us was rushing and not very polite. The rudeness continued through the tour as we "met" the executive director who did not even desire to stand and meet us. I know when my aunt lived here we reported mold to the same executive director not sure if that has been taken care of as I sensed the smell of mildew in the memory care unit. This facility needs some customer service training and enviromental updates.

I was not impressed with this community. I didn't think it was very appealing. Also they would not accept my mother into their community. Due to her condition.

Be aware and forwarned .... read the contract. ..when you move out, Villa S.B. and or Capital Senior living takes 30 days or more to refund any funds back to you.
