No activities, patients go to meals and return to room. No medical follow up, mother was there for a year and never saw a physician . Requested she be seen for complaints of abdominal pain , never happened. The staff doesn’t care and administrator is useless. If you want the best care for your loved one DO NOT go here.

My grandmother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease was a resident here for approximately 3 months and our experience was full of sheer disappointment. We ultimately ended up bringing her home because of many safety concerns and the neglect that she was receiving while in the “care” of The Waterford at Creekside. Leadership was unorganized and communication between staff is poor/nonexistent. My grandmother wandered past their “secure” gate three times before they made adjustments to their security. She had repeat yeast infections due to poor hygiene. She would go 5-7 days without being bathed. They even told me that she’s allowed to refuse baths. It took two full weeks for her to receive medical treatment for a painful, swollen ankle due to an injury that occurred during their care- they blamed this on their paperwork that wasn’t in place. No one could ever tell us what actually happened.

I had a loved one here and it was nothing but issues! The staff turnover is dramatic and there is No training for the new ones. Dept Heads turn over a lot as well. Make sure you put a camera in the room so you really know what is going on. They would forget to get them for meals. Help to get ready for bed…. The list goes on and on. The only thing that changes is the amount they charge keeps going up dramatically!!!

This place is a joke. I don’t know what is going on, but this place is going downhill fast! It’s filthy! There is no staff! No one returns calls! I feel like they must be selling the building because they aren’t trying to hire for any of the open roles and have a bunch of agency in the building. There is only like 1 or 2 managers, you can’t run a place like this!

The head of care was very hard to work with. I wouldn't recommend the community to others for their loved ones. There were three meals a day provided to the residents and there had choices to choose from. There were activities available for the residents to participate in as well.

My grandmother moved into American House over a year ago. WE chose this place because it was warm, friendly, staffed and clean. It is now the exact opposite. All of the staff left and the management team that we loved is no longer there. They were replaced with VERY cold people who should not be caring for our seniors. The care staff that was wonderful were all replaced with outside help or poor employees. My grandmother even had the housekeepers working as her aide one evening! How is this allowed? Are they even trained to provide care? If you have an issue and want to speak with the Executive Director, good luck! She won't return a phone call and leaves the building by 3pm! I tried to catch her today and she was gone by 2pm! How can you run a building and never be there? We feel awful that my grandma is here and now will have to move so that we know she is being cared for and we get some form of communication, because now we have neither of these things.

I toured with Brookview and they seemed very snooty and it seemed they could care less what happened to mom after money ran out!

A place where you will pay rent 2 weeks PAST your loved ones date of death. Ask them. It is their policy. Oh, if you don't, they will sue you. A nice place in general but with a high risk that your loved one will be in danger. Several instances on nights and weekends where Dad was suffering and no one came after calls. There is constant staff turnover. Only agency for staffing nearly every weekend and the call light system is none existing. When we had situations that came up, management was slow to unresponsive. if you care about your loved ones, you owe it to them to stay away from here. My Dad died before we could move him out of here. He begged us to make it happen.

I would tell a friend that if their loved one requires more care than meals and medication dispersement this is not the place for you. When they say independent, they mean independent!

What is wrong with American House Corporate that they think it is okay to kick out elderly residents on a fixed income after they promised if they private paid for 2 years they would be allowed an income based program of at least $XXXX [amount removed] a month. My mom spent down her entire life savings with American House, and then some person who has never set foot in the building makes a decision to evict her. If we had known this, we could have done a private pay Medicaid spend down at another community, now we don’t have that option and they are leaving my mom destitute. Shame on you all for allowing it to happen. The building level management all left because of the disgusting things corporate forced them to do, I know the truth even though lies are being spread they were all fired! Truth is they thought it was as disgusting as I do.

I don’t know what is happening here, but this place is terrible now. My grandma used to be so happy and well taken care of, but now she is really struggling with getting the care she needs. They have the worst staffing anywhere this past month, I understand it’s tough everywhere, but the new ED came in and fired everyone. She is unkind and clearly has no idea what she is doing. The whole new team is just bitter. They also made all kinds of promises years ago with an income based program called “peace of mind” and then pulled the rug out from everyone and got rid of it. People were promised after 2 years this program was something they would have access to, and corporate lied!! Disgusting!

From the minute I signed the lease, financially they did not do what they said. I pout down the $500 deposit and asked if there was any other charges and they said no. They ended up charging me $515 and they said it was for the automatic withdraw. I thought that was ridiculous. My mom passed away in September and I believe it was from lack of care. They showed me a list on how many people would be in the facility taking care of patients, it was 11 people split between the first and second floor. We were there every day all day and they never had on our floor more than 2 caregivers. I asked many times if the caregiver was there by themselves and they said yes. There were people in the hallways that said when they pushed the button for help, no one would come. We went every single day and we noticed this ourselves as well. My mom tried to get out of bed to go to the bathroom and she fell and broke 3 ribs. when she was suffering and the doctor prescribed morphine, on 2 separate occasions they did not administer the morphine on time. My brother was there to visit one time and noticed there was no one there, he pressed the button multiple times. We were thinking they might be helping someone else, but it turned out there was no one on the entire floor. We went to the administrator and they said this had never happened before. They have an upstairs bistro and they try to encourage people to go there to get meals. They have an outside deck and the beams on the ceiling are totally rotten and about to fall. On the flooring when you step on them they sink 4 inches. I brought it up to them and they said they would look into it. Right now I am having issues with my bill. They are sending me a bill for October even though she passed away for September. I keep calling them but no one is returning my calls. I have a recording telling me they were going to give me a credit. The bill came and they did not give me that credit. I would not recommend The Waterford at Virginia Beach to anybody, the care here is non-existent. If you are looking into this facility and they tell you they have ample staff, ask how many people are on the floor and you will see that they are lying right there.

American House used to be such a great place, and now I don’t even recognize anyone. They don’t have any of their own staff, everyone is from an agency and they just don’t care. The new ED is the worst human I have met in my life, the rest of her team is not much better. Everyone is new, food sucks, residents are dirty and not taken care of. I felt so comfortable when I moved my dad there 8 months ago, everyone was so nice and accommodating, not anymore. They need to fire the wicked witch ED and beg the old Managment staff to come back, that’s the only way that place will turn around.

The new management team is absolutely horrid. No one will return phone calls, and the new executive director is downright NASTY. I am not sure what happened, but everyone used to be so accommodating and friendly, now I have a new issue everyday. The latest most ridiculous thing is my mom and her friends were told they are no longer allowed to sit downstairs in front of the common area fireplace. This is their FAVORITE spot to sit and socialize with their friends. The grey short haired employee, who is easily old enough to live there, is the one telling the residents they cannot sit there. This is their home, they pay THOUSANDS of dollars a month to live there. Who is she to say they cannot be there? Makes me so sad.

Our family member has lived here for a few months. I can honestly say that It's no structure. It takes months for the maintenance department to fix anything, and the administrator is always full of excuses.

If I could give American House zero stars I would. There is a new Managment “team” in place right now and things are going down hill FAST! I plan on moving my mother out as soon as humanly possible because I worry about her well being. There is no staff, the new management, especially the new Director ([name removed]I believe) and some woman named [name removed], are so cold and distance with any concerns. I used to feel so comfortable with the staff because everyone was always so warm and kind, now it’s the complete opposite. Half the time you can’t even find an aid or a nurse to express concerns to. There was a great group of ladies who worked taking care of my mom, and now it’s all new faces of people who can’t be bothered. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT PLACE ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT HERE!

This is the worst place and I am ashamed that I even put my 91 year old mother there. She was admitted on Sunday to the hospital due to vomiting up blood and was given an adovan from the staff to keep her sedated and unaware so they could just continue chatting on their cell phones and not working. They claimed she was agitated and did not bother to check to see why, except to try to quiet her, like they do to the other residents. I have walked by residents who reak of urine and feces and they just let them walk by. It is horrific! My mother has had a few rashes due to lack of hygeine assistance that WE PAY for and they just would rather treat them like filth under their shoe than an actual person. My mother was so ill we are still in the hospital and likely will be in for another 4-5 days. We even had a CNA there at the Mansion Assisted to help her 5 hours a day for 5 days a week and I was recenlty informed by her that they mishandled my mom.

I toured this community and all I can say is awful, worse than a prison cell.

I am not putting my info down here. Someone that is in this place I know. This place is terrible I won’t put my dog in here… These clients are elderly and their family are paying for you to take care of them. Maybe there aren’t enough people working but as a business, you need to figure this out.

I would never recommend the community to anyone because of the nursing staff. The community gave my loved one gave a medication my loved one never had before and I'm not sure why they gave it to my loved one. I believe this caused my loved one to have issues. The call button wasn't working in my loved one's room and the family didn't know this wasn't working. The community did get the call light fixed immediately after the family letting them know it wasn't working. There were also issues with the tv service in the room of my loved one's and this wasn't fixed for my loved one during their time here.
