The apartment is a nice size. Housekeeping is awesome. I'm not used to someone knocking and unlocking my door and walking in. I put a small sign on my door "Please knock and give me a chance to answer door. The cleanliness is excellent. The food is mediocre. Being older, some can't tolerate spices. I don't bother going down for the lemon chicken legs. Just awful. Overall I am happy with West Shores.

The staff is great with the residents. The philosophy and the layout of the Waterford is great for patients with memory issues. For the first time in several years, my father engaged with staff and other patients. They allowed him to roam freely and safely and he felt like he had some independence and control back in his life. He made friends and I feel like the last few months of his life were happy and fulfilled. As with any "facility" things aren't perfect there but the staff was very approachable and caring and the facility was safe and clean. I am thankful for the Waterford of Decatur and their giving my father some of his life back at the end!

My biggest challenge is getting someone to help me w coordinating the admin end. And honestly I can't get anyone on the phone w/o leaving g a message and then maybe or maybe not someone calls me back. The quality of care is high and caregivers are lovely to my mom. But getting anything admin related handled is definitely problematic.

Rating for the Waterford director and activities director are cretainly a 5. They spend so much of their time being there beyond regular working hours. The food is wonderful and always evolving to consider the desires of the residents. They have a true chef in charge of the menus. My father in law is so confident in the nursing staff, that he is trusting them to give him his meds. This was a huge acceptance step for him who values his independence. He participates in many of the daily activities and enjoys sitting in the main lobby and talking. His one bedroom apartment is the right size for him.

I would advise families to read everything very carefully (rent goes up every year) and to check the past electric bills for the apartment they intend to rent. Staff that I met were wonderful.

They are short staffed all the time. Need to find people that want to work. Food is good about half the time.

Do it. Great facility and great staff. Would definitely recommend to others. My .5 off was due to a little one off situation that most would not experience.

Our mom is a resident here. Overall we are happy. Our disappointment is with food/dining. The menu looks good on paper but it generally is not what is posted. Ex: fresh fruit is always canned fruit, fresh vegetables are always over-cooked like mush & not fresh! Food is very important to our mom & your residents. You need to do better in this department.

The community is clean, pretty and the people are nice. I haven't eaten the food but it smells delicious. It looks like many people participate in activities.

Overall 4 stars... most staff are very nice however many new employees recently. Nice variety of activities. I do end up cleaning her apartment weekly even though they come in to clean. It's not quite enough. She has a one bedroom which is adequate for her.

Mom is very happy and safe. There is ongoing lack of staff in the dining room. Food is occasionally cold and/or overcooked. Potholes remain in the perimeter driveways for over 1 year since mom moved in. Some fixed while others remain.

We are early in our tours of facilities. Wellington is a very pleasant environment and the residents we saw in various areas of the facility seemed content.

We're very happy with the staff and the way they interact with the residents. The Waterford always strikes me as a place you'd want to retire to, not as a stereotypical "old folks" home. Always looks and smells clean and there always seems to be some sort of activity going on.

Small, one floor, outside courtyards, neighborhood and close to where I live. I have recommended to others.

Nice assisted living. I would give it a 4 out of 5. Floor plan is very open with high ceilings in social areas. Seems to offer great amenities. Clean and bright. Does not offer much for outdoor spaces. Living units are not very large. I did not like the memory care area at all.

Nice for the price. Well maintained. Courteous and friendly staff. Worth your look and consideration.

I would give Middleton Crossing a 4+ stars. Dad loves his apartment. It is bright and sunny, has a nice view from his windows and balcony, and has some privacy because he is at the end of one of the long hallways. Dad enjoys the meals and really likes having soup with his meal. He isn't a picky eater, which helps. Dad enjoys the activities, but wishes more people would participate. He loves the van rides and really enjoys the van driver, Mark. The field trips Mark comes up with are outings dad really enjoys. The facility, over all, is clean and homey. We really appreciate Cecilia's cleaning of dad's apartment each week!! Dad also enjoys the musical guests and special events like the Badger Bash and Casino night. I hope this helps families looking for a place for their loved one to live.

I’m giving a 4 because, while the experience has been positive overall, there is still some room for improvement. The staff are friendly and consistently acknowledge residents and visitors, which creates a welcoming atmosphere. When I raised a concern about trash not being emptied regularly, it was addressed promptly, which I appreciated. One concern I have is around meal routines. Breakfast is sometimes delivered later in the morning, which can affect appetite for later meals. While this doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue, it’s something I’ve noticed and continue to keep an eye on. I also have some hesitation about the transition in medical care. Moving away from a long-time primary provider has been an adjustment, and I would feel more comfortable having a better understanding of how new residents are evaluated and cared for. I plan to connect directly with the medical team to learn more, which I believe will help address these concerns.

The facility is in good condition, good location. The caregivers are great, activities are great for them and keeps them busy and entertained . The beginning set up is a little difficult.

Repairs to the apartment were not completed by move in and the cook quit so the staff was trying to fill in. So food left a lot to be desired. I think the issues are due to a new director, office manager on maternity leave and the loss of their cook. All things that will get better in time.
