Sodalis Elder Living

My experience is from august of 2023 so hopefully if they are still In Business they have made the necessary corrections It was an awful experience. They were acutely understaffed Also they were without a facility doctor at the time due to untimely passing of theirs. But still. No backup plan ?? Thirty days with out a doctor at assisted living?? I do not recommend. Attractive to look at but no service.

My mother has Alzheimer's/Dementia and, due to malnutrition and not eating, she was placed under the care of another facility. The Director, [name removed], informed me on a Thursday that since my mother didn't allow the nurse to complete her assessment, he recommended she be placed in a temporary personal home. He referred me to his contact, who provided a highly-rated personal home. However, after my mother was evaluated by the caregiver at the home, it was clear they couldn't handle the level of care she needed. I didn't realize that all parties were collaborating closely. When I contacted [name removed] the following week to ask about re-evaluating my mother, he reached out to the referral, who then reported that my mother was too aggressive after only four days in the new setting. DO NOT rely on [name removed] suggested referral service. Find your own referral service, unconnected to them. Bad business.

When you first walk in your greeted by a very business like environment not very home like, numerous puddles on the floor due to some kind of leaking roof or something, and when you look up it’s mold and then smell to match, there was nobody at the front desk and the lady who was out in the parking lot vaping came in and introduced herself as the Executive Director. I was greated and then taken to a poorly lit “private dining room that was cold and humid to find out more about my dad who was needing assisted living, the ED seemed very open about the buildings issue but never said what she was doing to improve it which was a red flag to me. The rooms are fairly nice size however again if there’s mold in the ceiling at the entry what would make me trust this place. With that being said I choose somewhere else and so should you if you care about your loved ones health.

Beautiful facility, with lots of poor quality!! Our loved one has been there for less than a year, they have had two executive directors during that time, and I believe three in the last year and a half, at least three nursing supervisors, the current, who is very judgmental. The state did a review last year, and found with our loved one alone, there were over 60 incidences in one month where she did not receive her medicine. If your loved one depends on their medication, this is not where you want. Retaliation definitely takes place there. We have reached out to upper management, their CEO/President of the company, and they do absolutely nothing. I have had three scheduled phone appointments with the CEO and she failed to take a single call. And she was the one that chose the dates and times. Horrible leadership! There are a few wonderful employees there who have hearts of gold. They are deserving of acknowledgment: [names removed]

My mother was viciously attacked by a fellow resident. This man, according to an interview of a caregiver conducted by the police, was continuously aggressive with residents and caregivers inside the facility. There are many unanswered questions as to how this horrific attack was able to take place despite red flags. I'm concerned for fellow residents.

My loved one was a resident at Sodalis Vero Beach and it was not a good experience. I was disappointed. I would not recommend this facility for Memory Care, based on our experience.

If I could move every single resident out of this place, I would!! Every time I visit my family member here, I pray the next visit will be better for more than a day or two after APS is called! From the consistent excuses to why there are endless roaches, why the laundry is never done (dirty soiled linen mixed with clean), residents being filthy, wrinkled, unattended to and wandering aimlessly because of a lack of activity, and minimal caregivers...all the way to managers who seem to never know what's going on, this place is a silver alert waiting to happen! On my last visit the lead med tech wreaked of marijuana and was disrespectful and rude to a resident. The nursing manager does nothing when reports are made about resident care or family concerns. The memory care director is a former maintenance tech who has no clue about dementia. I wouldn't move my worst enemy here. Our seniors deserve better!!

So far it has not been good at all. From the theft of my mom's debit card, prescription management, and according to my mom, down right depressing. No way would I recommend Sodalis at this point.

I would tell others looking that they are understaffed and aren't really able to give your loved one the care he/she needs. Our mother was missing underwear and Depends from her apartment, even though we paid extra for the Depends. Based off of our experience, I would not recommend Sodalis College Station.

This facility was great when it was under Elmcroft but since they changed their name so did the service, They have a big turnaround of employees especially CNAs the service has decreased residents are not engaged during the day and are just sitting and leaning in the lobby. There is no security meaning anyone can come and go without being identified and most of the employees are doing housekeeping and other duties which Leaves residents vulnerable snd the quality of services decrease. Most of the staff are unfamiliar with the residents and the lead staff are unprofessional

Do not bring your loved ones to this facility. It may look nice on the outside but on the inside isn't so nice. They raise the rent and tell them the reason for the raise is to give raises to their employees which they can't keep because they do not appreciate good help when they have it. Management does nothing when things are being reported against the employees. I used to love this place when certain staff members was at this place now this place is just awful and poorly ran by a young person who knows nothing about management.

I wouldn’t put my dog in this place. Inept caregivers, tacky premises, un nutritional menus and high staff turnover. Avoid. Pay a little more and take your lived one elsewhere. The caregivers on staff have 10 hours of “ training “ and make $10/ hour. Is that the quality your lived one deserves? ! No. Keep looking and yes, , the “ sales lady “ is a pushy New Yorker.

Never enough help, poor staffing , staff not compassionate or willing to go above and beyond to take care of residents , food is horrible . The only thing good about this facility are the home health nurses/ therapists the come by to help my father with his needs.

This facility was a horrible experience for us. My dad went missing from the facility on his first day!

Nothing that was told to us on the 2 sales visits were accurate. My mother's money was depleted because they were dishonest in the information they provided. After she was admitted we found many holes in the services- unauthorized people providing medications, not receiving medications over several days, etc. When we were there in the evenings you could not find a staff member. Day and night bed-ridden residents were hollering in their rooms to try to get help. They paint a pretty picture, but that's all it is. Mom is back home with us now. She needs help, but not from Sodalis.

Sodalis Temple was an overall terrible experience. The med techs were good, but everyone else was not. The care was lacking and the food was bad. The community itself was dark, small and depressing. It was also very hot inside because they were having trouble with their air conditioning. The marketing person was great and that's how we ended up there. I have learned something in this process; every facility is having trouble with staffing and/or not having enough help. I'm unsure if they're trying to save money or just cant get people to help.

The ED is horrible, all this company cares for is money and not the well-being of the residents. Staff is great, they know what they are doing, however, The ED doesn't know the right thing to do.

DO NOT RECOMMEND.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE 5 STAR REVIEWS!!! Over half of them were written by EMPLOYEES trying to raise their poor ratings! VERY MISLEADING AND DECEITFUL!!! My mother lived at Elmcroft (which was just recently renamed Sodalis) for over 4 years! I was just a short walk away from Elmcroft and visited my mom almost daily so I was very aware of the care my mom was receiving. This USED TO BE a great assisted living facility. Then, they were bought out by Sodalis and redecorated. It might look pretty, but everything went down hill! This once enjoyable community became depressing. All but 7 residents moved out. We went into [name removed] office to give her notice and she spoke VERY INAPPROPRIATLY to my mom. If she acted like that in front of me, how did she treat residents when no one was around? I couldn't wait to get my mother out of that place! They even charged her an entire month even though she had already moved! Sodalis is an under par facility even though they are still charging high rates.

RUN as fast as you can from Sodalis.. Greed is the name of the game with lack of activities, staff, procedures done on the cheap and care. I see 7 positive reviews yet every other person I know who had a parent in here hated it. My dad went in as a 0 and pretty self-sufficient but w/in 4 months was a 4 and sent to memory care with little to no help there. He died a month after that. Within ONE DAY they were asking for payment for the 1 week of a month he spent that month. They harassed my mom will multiple phone calls when learning we would write a poor review. Employees left and in the months and even year after we left, conditions were still bad. Don't let the tour and pretty facility fool you, parents will NOT flourish here but instead leave you wondering how you could have made such a bad decision. Some of us still keep in touch and work through the guilt of choosing this place. It's a sham, they are all about the dollar and are NOT honest about costs, I promise you that.
