Sodalis Elder Living

The hygiene wasn't as good as could have been. The toilet was filthy underneath, I reported this to the staff. I like the staff they are friendly and welcoming. We have actually since moved my wife out of here and into another facility that is more fitting for our needs.

The major problem with Sodalis was that they were understaffed and did not offer many activities for the patients. Being understaffed was an issue as it usually took staff a long time to respond to a bracelet alarm. The best part was that the staff was friendly and tried to help even while being understaffed. The food was good and the chef was very nice. I believe if they could have more staff to help out and offer more activities i.e. hairdresser, it would be a better place to live at. Overall grade-C

The thing is it was brand new and they didn't have very many residents there as of yet. We were told when he got there they would accommodate his diet as he was not supposed to have salt. That ended up being a problem as he was unable to eat it. They were nice . They had changed the manager the day we moved in which caused them to be very unorganized at many times.

It could be cleaned a little better, every time I have come to her room, the floor is dirty, needs to be at least swept. Also when dressing her, the care givers are not putting her undershirts' on, which I think it necessary because she doesn't wear a bra. So the undershirts takes place of the bra. And she also needs her sweater also on at all times.

Generally, the staff is helpful. The memory care Director is easy to work with and responsive to requests.

My mom stayed here for two weeks in February and in May. There was a high turnover in hired staff including caregivers, nursing, and housekeeping between the two visits. Those were drawbacks I noticed, and I don't trust them to take proper care of my mom long-term. I do have the reservation that if they become more stable, maybe they will get better. There are good nice people there, but during those 26 days I had to wipe feces off of several surfaces, and wonder about laundry. I think we were an unusual case because it was respite care and we didn't have to bring in supplies of furniture, because they provided that for us which was pretty good. She needed insulin shots as well, and it was hard to know what was going on. I found out after day 10 of the second stay in May that they were giving her the wrong dosage of insulin, which led to her getting sick. Maybe if the same nurses and director had been there all the way through to our second visit, they likely would've been more comfortable and aggressive with her care.

The tour guide was really nice and great but when we walked in we set off the alarm. It took about 5 minutes for someone to show up and check on this so this made us a little uncomfortable and it was a little older

My loved one said that people were taking her things. At first I thought it was just some memory issues she was having but then I went to visit and other people were wearing her clothes, had her blankets, sheets, etc. She had no linens when I went over there and I sent her with 3 sets. Whenever they do the laundry, she is not getting her things back. When they moved my loved one from the room she was in to a new room, they did not take all of her furniture and put someone elses things in there. They do a lot, but I do not think she is getting what we are paying for. I am hoping things will improve, it is a very nice place and has a lot of potential.

I was there for respite care and during my staff the staff members were extremely friendly, but they had no activities. It was more like you just had to come up with your own things to do.

The facility was very clean and the staff seemed to be knowledgeable. But the residents were all just sitting around not doing much and it was too sterile for our liking.

After touring many other facilities, we were not the biggest fans of Elmcroft, we felt the value for the money was not there.

Some of their responses to my questions made me feel like they were hiding something. . .

Make sure to validate the amount of care available for your loved one and the caregiver's ability to provide that care. Communication was good between the staff and me. The community was new and the staff did their best to help with the staffing issues that were present. I would recommend this community to others.

Older facility but very nice, had some damage from snow event but recovering. Great price point and were eager. Seems like a good place, not very high energy.

I think the community needs more staff to keep up with the amount of residence they have in the community. The rooms are nice and patience is good.

for me, it was a bit depressing. dated, dark and worn. not my taste.

The property is nice. Not too big, not too small. I think I will need to revisit after Covid is no longer a problem to see how social it is. Mom needs IL with lots of happy hours and as she can still care for dad, AL is too restrictive right now. I would revisit in a year or so when both parents need a higher level of care.

Peaceful community, fine for my dad, but my mom would be bored to tears. Mom is still able to live fully independently and can care for my dad who if on his own would need AL. My mom needs more social stimulation than Elmcroft provides. Apartments are tiny (no IL on property) and there were only 4 people in the dining room during lunch. a lovely environment for people who need AL and memory care.

The cleanness of the facility could be better especially in the residence rooms, we have seen bugs also. The communication with the family is poor and needs to be improved. I would not recommend this community to others.

The rooms at the community would be a four out of five, however we would not recommend this community to others. In the beginning they were not truthful with what they had to offer. Once we signed the papers it was a completely whole new story.
