Myrtle Beach Grove wanted a deposit before they evaluated my loved one and gave us a price . His reason was he only had 2 rooms left.

Maintenance issues and the food are the 2 problems my dad has with this facility. He won't eat the food at all. They respond fast to maintenance issues, but then they won't fix everything. Examples: the stove wont open unless we remove the cabinet knob, and the cabinet door doesn't open because of the stove. We were told before he moved in they would replace the stove, but once he moved in they said no. Toilet overflows daily-they won't bring a plumber out to snake it. Shower handle is too difficult to turn (even for a non elderly person) and they won't bring a plumber to fix. So he struggles with 2 hands to turn the handle to take a shower. To be fair, the positive side is that the place is very clean, and for the most part, the response is prompt and friendly.

Good- feels at home here. Everyone is nice and understanding.

Our family had an in person tour and we had all of our questions ready for answering but we just came out quite confused - we did not really understand the set up of the community and was not the biggest fan of the overall layout

I would recommend you shop around and do your homework. I would also ask lots of questions to the families of the residents and who have had their loved one's in the community's care. The care that our loved one received was only adequate after the family followed up and being there. The management team would apologize for not the appropriate care that our loved one received. They would fix it and then make the care available for a couple days, and then it would be the family having to step in and address the concerns again about the lack of care. Stoneybrook ended up charging more for the care because they were doing more since they weren't doing more, but our loved one wasn't receiving the additional care that was paid for. Once hospice stepped in to care for our loved one, they really had to take control over the care. Stoneybrook was extremely resistant to the medication management for our loved one, and was having to advocate for the medication management. The food was average for our loved one. There were three meals a day served to the residents. The biggest meal was served at lunch. The community told the family at the beginning they would deliver meals to the resident's rooms if our loved one didn't make it to the dining room and this wouldn't happen on a regular basis. Also, the family had to stay extremely involved and advocate for our loved one consistently.

It started off really good but they sold it and when the new company bought it, out things have gotten worse. They are trying to make some improvement but there have been issues. They are very short handed, especially at night. There has been a lot of turnover of staff and a lot of temporary staff that don't know the residents, they don't have that relationship with them that the others did. They have also increased the pricing a ton. We are hoping for improvements.

I had a lot of issues with the quali.ty of care and staff communication. The communication between shifts was non-existent. One incident my loved one, went without their medication for hours

They need some work done. The community did not feel as inviting.

I would not recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community told us there would be care items included and they weren't. The housekeeping wasn't provided such as taking the trash out, vacuuming, etc. There was a time that I was visiting and I couldn't find a staff member to assist with a screaming resident. I ended up having to call the night line to get assistance for this resident. The meals portions were really small for the residents. There was a variety of activities offered to the residents to participate in.

We did not end on a good note. It was fine until my loved one needed more care than they expected. And I've heard from others as well to expect to be discharged rather abruptly when their circumstances change and to make sure to stay on top of the care they are being given. The staff was kind enough, but definitely not equipped to handle the care they told us they were capable of. I would not recommend them for higher level of care, but okay for someone who can take care of themselves with little assistance and is just looking for a lower maintenance and more social way of living.

The staff is extremely friendly. They have a new administrator who has come in and is working very hard to make positive changes to the facility, including the dining services. If you have a concern, they work very hard to address it. All things together, there is always room for improvement. And they're taking steps to make those improvements now.

This was our second choice. This was an older and smaller community. There was an odor as it was an older community. The staff were engaging. They have Physical Therapy on site for the residents. This is nice to be able to follow up with the residents when needed. The cost was reasonable as everything was included.

They are often short staffed, and the care services have not been that great. They could improve on laundry services, handyman repairs, and care services. There has been some challenges. The people do seem to care, and the front desk staff is helpful. My advice to other families, is to get your own internet service becasue the communities service is not good.

I had to move my loved one out because it was too big of a place for her to handle. She's doing much better now at a smaller community. The staff were pretty good. They really tried to help the best they could. But it cost me a lot of outside money to hire additional care during the short time she was there.

The care staff are always busy. The cooks are medium quality. The management are always there when needed.

The care is wonderful; however, the activities are developed for those that are further along in their journey than my loved one was. The staff communication with the family was not great. I would have to make multiple calls or send multiple emails to get a response to my question initially. The food is very basic, and my loved one enjoyed it. There were substitutions available for the residents if they didn't like the choices being served.

I toured this facility. It was clean and staff was friendly. I noticed that most of the residents were non communitive and seemed to maybe be in their last stages of dementia. I'm not sure if that was the case, but it stood out to me and didn't feel like the right place for my loved one.

I toured this facility. It seemed pretty nice, but seemed to cater more towards Independent Living rather than Assisted Living. Not what we were looking for.

It has been a pretty good experience. I would like to see more variety and options with the food.

Things have recently gone downhill - in the beginning we loved it though. In the wing my loved one is in, a lot of the rooms are empty. They raised their rates 10% at the beginning of this month. They offer a lot of activities and I think my loved one would go more often if someone came to walk them down. My loved one is not liking the food so much right now, in the last month we have heard more complaints. They were bought out before we moved in and some changes are being made. I do think it is very expensive for what you get.
