I can only speak for my experience in the memory care area of the Portage facility. Overall the care is good but in the Memory care area it seems as though more staff is needed for the special needs of the memory care residents . The staff is hurried a lot of the time. ( not allowing enough time for the residents to eat) I have also noticed frequently the lack of attention & interaction between Aides & residents. (residents sitting at a table doing nothing while the aide is on their cell phone, not being asked if they need to use the restroom frequently enough resulting in accidents) This is not always the case but depending on who is on staff that day it does happen frequently, Other concerns are: residents bed linens not being changed on a regular basis, & showering schedules not being kept also loss of linens , towels & clothing in the laundering process, even though all items are marked I also wish there was more communication about events that the memory care residents & or family members could participate in. I receive numerous emails from the Valparaiso Rittenhouse about memory care workshops, & resident events etc. but have yet to receive any information about similar activities at the Portage facility. As a whole The Portage facility is good but, could use some improvement, I believe a little attention to detail would improve the care given immensely.

The activities are really great. There could be more effort made to keep residents' things better organized so that you could be assured everyone had their own clothes in their drawers. The food could be better. The staff were very nice and helpful.

I visited this facility but chose a different one. The apartments are nice but the main hallways are not overly wide. It's a tall building with only two elevators so it takes awhile to go up or down. The pool is in an adjacent facility so it's a bit inconvenient but the biggest I saw in my search. The dining facility is probably better than most.

Other than a few issues settling in things have gone very well at Wynwood of Northville! The facility itself is very nice, clean, and the surroundings are pleasant. They've got a good variety of activities for the residents, and the food is very good! I also like the dining set-up, they've got several small dining areas as opposed to one large cafeteria. The biggest issues we've run into is that some of the staff can be slow to respond to requests, or will sometimes agree to help with something and then not complete that task.

The day to day cleanliness is pretty good, but there are some things that could use some attention, the carpets could be cleaned. They were very friendly when we were first looking, but once they got there they were kind of on their own. When they very first moved in, nobody came and greeted them, or introduced themselves, or even showed them around. They are able to have their pet there. They complain daily about the food. The big meal of the day is during lunch, and the dinner meal doesn't have much for choice. The entrance isn't very smooth for anyone with a walker. The apartment itself we liked a lot, the square footage is good, the actual living space is good. They have been slow getting back to them to have some help with things in the apartments.

Definite nursing home'feel'. Pricing unbelievable for what they offer No companion Fee. Each person pays full price.

FOOD IS ONLY AVERAGE , SERVICE IN DINING ROOM MOST DAYS IS VERY SLOW

They dont bill right ..I am always getting big bills even when i know how much it is every month..So their billing is bad..One month they sent me a bill for 61,000 dollars..Mother has been there since Feb. and never got a correct bill yet...

They really have to be very self-motivated. There’s not a lot of push for participation in activities. It’s very is beautiful . The staff is very friendly. Everything is very nice. They are very knowledgeable. The food is good. The parking is good.

They are a nice place and very clean. I don't live very close, when I came to visit I visited for four hours. In the time I was there things that should be done every two hours weren't done at all. There were also some instructions that weren't followed correctly either. Brigitta is a lovely lady, she is the marketing director, one of the reasons we chose Morningside was, she seemed a little more concerned and seemed less focused on sales than another place we saw. The call button doesn't work, and it's been at least a month. I do like that it's a lovely spacious room.

We didn’t chose this community because it was much larger than the community we did choose. We didn’t feel the staff was as good a match for my loved one. We tried the food and it was okay, but nothing very exciting. It’s a lovely community, but just not a good fit for us.

They need to stay on top of what Autumn Leaves tells them that they are going to do. This particular Autumn leaves could make sure the night staff does what they’re supposed to. Food not very good. There is a tiny court yard. There is a wide range of memory care issues that are being address here so your loved one needs to be prepared for that. It’s hard to be hopeful when the residents around a person are much more progressed in this disease. I wish there was a more in the middle place.

This is not a medical facility. I was not aware before we went into it. The is the main problem. When a person is only eating 10% of their meals - this is very important to notice! It’s clean and they are very friendly, but health is so much more than that.

The communication is lacking. I feel like they aren't very good at keeping up with the personal care. It's nice and clean, and the food is pretty good. They don't make sure he comes down for meals. They do have an alternate menu so if there is something he doesn't want he can order something else. We chose it because It's one of the cleaner places we saw. It also seemed to have more men than a lot of the other communities.

We toured this location when we were looking into care options for my loved one. This facility looked nice enough, and the people were friendly, however we did not like the layout. The memory care section felt very confined and cluttered, and it was upstairs.

Facility set for more severe patients so I decided not to see it for it would be only for my father-in-law. This would be best suited when he gets further along.

They weren't really able to accommodate our loved one's needs. The caregivers got aggressive with our loved one when he didn't want to do what they wanted him to do. When he got aggressive back they had him taken away and wouldn't let him come back and didn't give me any notice or time to find something new. A very frustrating experience.

This place is great for those on the lower end of the care spectrum. I had a loved one who was here for quite a while as independent living, and they did a great job. However, when she started needing help and had to move to the assisted living things went downhill. You really had to stay on top of them to make sure they weren't just doing the bare minimum when it came to the care and services provided.
