Clean, well-maintained building. Street parking only, as far as we could tell. Good closet space but room is pretty small. Memory care courtyard with fans is nice. Not sure how much is done to engage self-isolating MC residents. Told that MC residents are checked on every two hours. Not fancy but seemed adequate.

We had a virtual tour there, and I did not like at all. I can't even pinpoint why exactly. I just couldn’t picture my mom there, and I just didn’t like it. My gut was telling me it just wasn't the right place for her.

[name removed] was very informative. The rooms had small bathrooms and little storage space. There was not a kitchenette. The price was reasonable but you had to add on to that depending on the level of care needed. For my situation, that means it would be about the same price as an all-inclusive facility that is much nicer, with much more storage and personal space.

The community is older and the rooms are unique so make sure you see the room that you are renting. the first floor is partially underground and I didn't see any air-conditioning unit so the upper floors may be warmer. I would recommend this community because they have several care levels, but the community is big and that can make it feel impersonal.

The staff members were all very friendly, and we were able to spend a great deal of time inside the community and eat the meals they served. We do think they could improve on the staffing, there was a pretty high turnover rate and we did experience some theft while our loved one was there.

We went for an in-person tour, but the office staff ended up showing us a video tour there in the office. Overall, this seemed like much more of a lockdown situation for people with worse dementia than our loved one currently has. There were no little kitchens in the room, and we wanted her to have more opportunity to cook things if she wanted to. We decided that assisted living would fit her needs better.

We chose Elmcroft because of the location, the friendliness of the staff, they seemed very knowledgeable as well as it was very clean when we went in for our tour. It is in a very beautiful spot, it reminds me of a mansion on a hill and it is not institutional. Inside it reminds of a really nice hotel. They have been good with communication at times but sometimes I do not get enough. My mom did say the food was really good when she first moved in and now it has gone downhill some. They just started opening up again and I see a list of the activities they provide and it seems to be pretty good.

I would tell others that my mom had severe Alzheimer's when we moved her in. When we first moved her in she walked with a limp with a walker. Within a month, she broke her arm and I was not notified for a long while after it had happened. They did not give her any pain medications. She fell again and broke her hip and she required surgery. I got the opinion that they may be good on memory care, but not so much patient care. It was a place I probably should not have put mom int he first place, but they did not carry through with what they said. I was not able to go inside to see what was going on but we were not pleased with our experience.

I would tell others not to go there. The community wasn't equipped to give the care my father needed. The nursing station was far from my parents' apartment, which made the situation worse. Make sure you choose your apartment to fit your loved ones' needs. The Isles also had a difficult time meeting the dietary needs of my father. The Isles owed us money because my parents left so soon after moving in due to the change of their health status. One parent needed more care than The Isles could provide, which was verified by the head nurse who said, "You need to find a place with an ECC license." My other parent suddenly had worsening dementia. We have received no refund, and it's been two months. We were told a couple weeks after my parents left that we had to give 30 days notice to move out, even though the contract said no notice was required if there was a change in health status. I sent emails, made phone calls, sent snail mail, and sent texts about resolving my parents' departure

This community didn't provide any services. The residents weren't allowed to leave their room, food was brought to their room, the community wouldn't provide a lot of information over the phone. The community blamed all this on the pandemic. The community was clean.

We would not recommend this community to others

I would say not to go to Elmcroft. They don't have enough caregivers. My loved one needs more individualized assistance, and I would like for the staff to assist with other daily living activities.

In my view, a lot of long term care facilities and with our experience at Brookdale Mt. Hood is that COVID should not have gotten in as easy as it did. Half the staff tested positive and they had 10 deaths. They were not compliant with a lot of the rules and that is why it spread so fast. The food is not good either, the meals are having to be delivered and they are sometimes cold and not prepared correctly. We are having to provide her with a lot of food so that she can have a decent meal. I do think that things could have been handled better here.

check out the community thoroughly before signing on. I would not recommend this community to others.

I was disappointed by Elmcroft. It has a good reputation but I found that it was chronically under-staffed and fairly often saw incompetence and lack of training in staff. There were ,however, a few employees who were very kind-hearted and really went out of their way to help my mother. Apparently, many other places are much worse but in my opinion the care was not what it should have been.

The dining service was good, however the meals were just adequate. Some meals were better than others, but it was very institutional. The activities seemed to be geared more towards the woman than the men, but the activities director was wonderful and very hard working.

I would want others to know that they are not staffed to the max, so there are days where there are no nurses available for help. They are not responsive at all, when she needs help she presses a button and sometimes it takes a couple of hours before someone comes to check on her. I do think the facility is just too big, since it is so big there are 3 levels of care. Independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Everyone is locked down in the facility except for independent living, they are able to come and go as they please but this has caused issues as they take the same elevators as everyone else. I would not recommend the community to others.

Pre COVID we really enjoyed the dining room experience, and our apartment was a decent size, it was comfortable for us. Pre COVID the food would be about a four out of five, and now the quality has declined a little. However, we would recommend this community to others.

We chose Layton Terrace because of the appearance looked like something that he would want. The room sizes here were smaller compared to some we looked into. The food was not good, the few times I was able to eat with him, the portion sizes were very small especially for the money you are paying.

we were going to move my aunt into this facility and paid a large amount to get everything started. But covid restrictions hit and they wanted us to drop her off at the front door with all of her stuff and leave her. We would not do that and so we decided not to move in and they would not refund any of the money. She never even stepped a foot into the facility. They would not allow any visitations either.
