Very disappointing, I honestly believe that if I had not gotten mom out of the Memory Care as soon as I did, she probably would not have survived the end of the year. Very sad and very horrible experience

Obviously not good ; we moved them to another facility. Huge issue in Memory Care with everything from odor hitting you as you walk in to filthy floors and so many bathroom issues, as well as wet (soiled) linens in made bed! [name removed] at from desk is very nice; most staff are nice enough just not trained and/or supervised correctly. Too many issues with the care services to address here. Meals in ALF were nice but the environment in the memory care dining was abhorrent. Again, ALF was nice but memory care has much room for improvement. If the assistance promised was actually carried through it would be a good value. But it is not.

I had to remove my mother from Tuscan Gardens. Many employees have left including the executive director. I reported Tuscan to the state of Florida for their violations. Tuscan does not hire experienced people. They have 4 hours of training. Employees told me Tuscan is short staffed and they were overworked and underpaid. The good staff left Tuscan after new management came in. It's a beautiful facility but until they get the kinks out I would not recommend this facility.

The dementia testing was not done by a professional neurologist. Our loved one was placed in a portion of the facility that was not suitable for him. Although we were told we would be offered a meal so we could see what it was like, this never happened even upon our request. Because of all this we decided to take him home until we could find the best care for him and check our options. In order to get him released to us, we had to get the Marion Co Ombudsman involved. Our loved one is home now until he becomes too difficult to care for. The staff we talked with as we viewed were friendly yet we later felt betrayed. Even the friendly staff in the memory unit didn't know why he was there.

While living in Grand Villa the supervisor confiscated a lot of my property, claiming it is sharp and dangerous. After leaving Grand Villa that property has NOT been returned to me. The excuse that the stuff is dangerous is a lot of nonsense.

My experience was just awful. He was only there for 6 weeks. He went to the ER 4 times with injuries from falls. He walked into this facility and within days was primarily in a wheelchair. The place was very clean and the people for the most part were friendly enough. However, there was very little care. I hired an aide to cover the 12 hour shift that I couldn't take. So between me and my private aide we covered about 20 hours. No one seemed to really watch him when we weren't there. The aide told the staff multiple times that he had a UTI and he was never seen by a medical person. It wasn't until he was unresponsive that they called me and asked me if I wanted him sent to the hospital. I said yes. By then he was septic and his kidneys had shut down. As for food, my husband could barely feed himself. They don't give out knives with the meals and he would get things like a whole chicken breast to eat. They wouldn't precut his food. Lots of the meals were almost impossible for him to eat unless someone was there to cut his food or to feed him. Not really user friendly. In the 6 weeks he was there it never changed no matter how many times I asked for his food to be cut for him. The fact that to help keep him safe I had to hire private care made the cost of this place ridiculously expensive. There is a huge difference in your experience here if you are in the memory care unit as opposed to the assisted living side. I think it is very nice if you are just in the assisted living. But if you are in the memory care unit it is a very different place.

I have filed AHCA complaints as we had medication error. I recently filed another complaint after finding my mother with severe sores across lower belly and groin area from them letting her sit in moisture. She is currently in hospital from fall Thursday afternoon with a broken nose, etc. It has been such a heartbreaking experience for the entire family. My mom has family there all of the time, much more than most of the residents and I honestly think it has put a thorn in the staff's side including the directors. All I can say is shame on them for fostering that type of environment. So very sad.

The staff on the Independent side is great. Could do better with cleaning the hallways and the rubbish room though.This place is horrible. Every day people who are fortunate enough to have money move out.

To anyone considering moving a loved one to Grand Villa in Deerfield Beach. Don't. I was considering moving my mom there as it's close to where I live. She's in memory care currently in Delray. The sales person after initial contact never responded other than stated her move in date would be the [date removed]. After my moms assessment I followed up a couple times with nursing director I finally get a call on a Fri at 4 30pm from the Executive Director and Nursing Director who stated my mom would be a level 3 she had been btwn a 1&2 in other places so I asked to have the cost &explanation emailed to me. I got a call around 5pm from a marketing person who wanted my email I called right back twice to the facility& no one answered. I texted the nurse director my correct email..no response then again on Sat no response then again on Mon no response..I call the corporate office as I had given notice had a mover lined up and spoke to an extremely rude operations director. Unprofessional

Basically, I would never put anybody into memory care unless they were basically a vegetable. Even as bad as my father's dementia/Alzheimer's is he knew he was behind locked doors which might as well have been prison. It was a horrible experience. The one really disappointing thing about the memory care unit at Brentwood was that there was very little for my father to do. We had been told that Brentwood was one of the best places for memory care but it was more like babysitting with nothing or very little to ever stimulate his mind.

The food needs major improvements. They need better quality of meat for the hamburgers. Also, it would be nice if they could serve real eggs. Other than that, mostly everything has been good so far.

Well for us the place was just an expensive room with meals. We needed a place that had at least some medical help. Our loved one was in the memory care unit. I think we were led to believe that there was going to be more help than there was. I knew that we would have to pay extra for some services but I had to pay another [fee removed] a month on top of the fee for the room to get my loved one more help. The night aide I hired did almost all his bathing and getting ready for the day and ready at night. Part of that should have been done by the staff at Pineapple house. They had no orientation when we arrived there. After 5 weeks there his food was still not being cut into small pieces for him. They serve whole chicken breasts and other foods to people who don't have knives to cut the food. I complained several times. They still didn't know what beverages he preferred after 5 weeks. He visited the emergency room 3 times in his first week there. He looked like he had been beaten up. He ended up in the hospital with a UTI and pneumonia and was unable to be woken. His kidneys shut down and I moved him to hospice where he died several days later. So I really can't say very much good about the place at this point.

I would not recommend Grand Villa to anyone. They kept sending my Father to the hospital. I think they did it so they won't have to take care of him. And pocket the monthly money.

We put my mother-in-law in here during pandemic for a very inexpensive rate of [amount removed] after six months of being there she had a horrible fall it wound her in Boca regional hospital we figured accidents happen. We didn’t think anything of it. They started calling us constantly the Director, stating they wanted to put her in memory care. She goes to the bathroom by herself. She eats all by her self. She uses the elevator to go up and down by herself. We refuse the memory care that’s when things started she whines of getting this horrible rash called scabies that you get when you’re not showered again, back to the hospital, doctors and dermatologist. Her bedding hadn’t been washed in six months. We removed it. Then they put adult diapers on her so tight she couldn’t get them on her off to go to the bathroom. She begged for help 10 days ago ones up in the emergency room with a horrible UTI. Stay away from here please copy and paste and post this everywhere lawsuits filed. Media is notifie

They are not in the same page. They say one thing than do another. Memory care unit the rooms are not clean. I'm just glad I moved my father out of there. Will not recommend to no one

They are the worst place I have ever seen in my life. My loved ones have been 3 different places and it was the worst. The place is dirty and most of the staff was horrible. I showed up every day and there was dirty laundry all over, wet diapers on the bed, etc. They got meals delivered to the rooms and their Styrofoam dishes were left in the room and no one came to clean it up. Laundry and cleaning day was supposed to be on Fridays and it never happened when it was supposed to because they had no staff. She was never showered the days she was supposed to be either. I spoke to the management and nothing was done about it. Overall it was a very bad experience and I would not recommend them to others looking.

Do not place your love one's at Grand Villa of DeLand. I had to remove my loved one from there because I kept finding them hungry and in bed and covered in feces.

My mom has lived here for just over a year. There is virtually no communication from the facility to families. They have been without a memory care director for months -but I would not know this if I did not have a private caretaker keeping an eye on things on a regular basis. My mom has fallen twice in the past week - I think she went to the ER last night, but I have not spoken to anyone there. It's been 24 hours and I've left messages for someone to call me - but no one has gotten back to me. They seem like nice people who want to do the right thing - but are TERRIBLE with communication.

If you love your family member, DON'T PUT THEM HERE! The caregivers are amazing but the lack of communication and care between administration and RN with doctor and family members is unbelievable! My dad was placed in memory care unit on [date removed] and his condition has deteriorated ever since! He was just taken to the hospital via "non-emergency transport for a psychological evaluation" at the recommendation of the RN and when he arrived at the hospital MANY hours later, he had a temperature of 102.8, was suffering from hypothermia, his heart rate was at 40 and his blood pressure was sky high! This is one of many examples of the lack of care for their resident's wellbeing and fortunately it's the last one for my dad as I can't trust my father's life in their hands!

We had a terrible experience with Truewood By Merrill, it was so bad we ended up moving him out. The first 3 days he was here, no one even showered him or cleaned his room. No one showed him his way around at all or helped him out. He was wet and they kicked him out of the dining room and started feeding him in his room. I would never recommend them to others.
