I know all about reviews, and all about facilities... Been through it over and over now......... I have never been less optimistic and more disappointed in my life, with a facility, and this is the 5th one I have experience with. This is not a memory care facility--at all. This a 'retirement apartment complex', with meals provided, and medication dispensed by a nurse-if either are required-that is POSING as a memory care facility. Room , board, and meds is what you pay almost $7000 a month for here. Half the residents' families has been required to hire outside help just to make sure the basics are done.....now double the monthly price.....just for peace of mind. That is unacceptable! Don't expect any day to day care with the basics--hygiene, dressing, helping into and out of bed.....etc. The bare necessities required are a disgrace......In addition, they claim to have some famous chef.........I've eaten there 10 times now, and the food is not only not chef worthy, but it is insultingly bad. It's almost inedible, and my standards are low. Why? Because nobody gives a [removed]! (How would you like to have 'stewed canned tomatoes as your side vegetable dish 4 nights a week!? This is not an exaggeration). Far from half edible cuisine. Another lie we were told before 'signing". The food is nauseating, because they figure dementia residents won't know the difference. Apparently all these false promises and incompetence are justified by the offering of daily activities to the residents....... WHO CARES!... if they are doing them while sitting in their own filth. Don't want to get into more detail......but they do things like order Direct TV for the residents' rooms-with hundreds of random channels, and complicated remotes, for people who are incapable of the most basic of human daily requirements......and they expect them to understand that remote control!! Assistance with daily living help is non existent. I have to go there every day and change my loved one's diaper, over and over.....or else it will never get done.......and for the 7K a month they charge. Don't care if they just opened recently--I've heard that one before--and a solid, knowledgeable, experienced company can transgress into a new facility easily, instead of making daily excuses......This is supposed to be an experienced company, who has got everything under control. Instead, it seems as though Life Care Services is only about one apology after another, for a the things most of us take for granted--which should be FIRST on their priority list, and should never have to warrant an apology!.....and they do care about the bottom line of course--making $$. LCS....listen up.....Nobody cares what a nice library/spa you have, if her/his parent is found on the floor every morning, rolling in stool, to the surprise of the clueless staff, who would never have known if it weren't specifically pointed out to them by a family member, who should never have to feel compelled to go there and check and see every morning. A disgrace! This is not the kind of business you handle with trial and error tactics, and learn as you go. Peoples' lives are at stake-from day one! And the the residents....God bless their poor souls, can't even get the very most basic daily living care that every human being is entitled to. In pajamas, soaking wet in the dining room for breakfast, or any given meal, I would hardly call basic care. It's as sad as it is angering, and this place is already worthy of legal interaction. Do not believe what you 'hear', what you 'read', or what fancy paint, walls, new facilities, and decorations indicate...... *A facility is ONLY as good as the PEOPLE who work there.....PERIOD. And it all starts at the top. Huge mistake moving our loved one there, thinking how much better it would be than where she/he cam from. Not even close. This organization-Life Care Services, and those they hire- is/are completely delusional when it comes to what a "memory care facility" is. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear this is in fact their very first memory care center, and all their alleged experience is only with assisted living facilities--2 completely different entities. Please, check their background, and know what you're getting into before making a decision, regardless of how convenient the location might be. Thank You

Whoever their executive director is now she is very fake and standoffish. I feel she does not know what she is doing and they picked the worse person to run that community. The care seemed to be very good and the employees were very friendly. The concierge was very polite and always had a warm greeting. The nurses seem to do an okay job but not the they can do. The aides were always helpful and made sure my dad looked the best he could when he was there. The sales manager seemed like she was a nice person but also seemed as is she had an attitude sometimes. the food was always good dad never complained. The pricing was very good to me even though it would go up sometimes depending on the care dad needed.

We moved our parent into the memory unit on the second floor. The rooms are a nice size and well appointed. The reality is that the facility is grossly understaffed. Patient needs are not promptly met. Memory floor not as clean as it should be. Concerned about my parent's well being and seriously considering moving out. If going to NSP, ask a lot of questions and be careful.

This place has terrible food and smells very bad. It does not treat it's elderly and vulnerable population with any respect as they never have the elevators running properly, they do not provide decent food, and they charge random and expensive fees, which really depend on what kind of money they think they can get from you. There is no consistent pricing across the population. My mom stayed here for months on respite but found it depressing, could not eat their food, and could never get up to her apartment in less than 30 minutes as the elevators are constantly a wreck. As an independent senior, she would never want to live there. She was desperate to get out and find someplace that didn't smell and where she could eat a decent nutritious meal.

We had a terrible experience with the Barrington of Oakley, and I would not recommend them to anybody. A week after my loved one moved in she ended up in the hospital with a fractured hip. The staff here say she never fell, and that nobody know how this injury happened. My loved one could not have gotten up herself after an injury of this severity, so someone must not have reported the injury. They've been defensive, unhelpful, and unpleasant to deal with while I have been trying to find out what happened. The facility itself is wonderful looking, but I think they should have put more money towards properly trained staff.

We moved our mother to Spring Hills in August 2013 and was told that she'd be guaranteed a Medicaid bed after spending her entire life savings there (they told us not to tell anyone about this agreement). Spring Hills assured us that they had the proper Memory Care programs available and we were comforted to know that our mother would receive the care she needed as her dementia worsened. Spring Hills assured us that this was the place for our mother. Instead, our mother was involuntarily DISCHARGED twenty months later after Spring Hills took almost the entirety of our mother's life savings, claiming they could no longer care for her. And they did not even tell us on the phone or in person, they sent a letter in the mail!! Spring Hills received the benefit of the agreement and our mother was thrown to the street. The employee turnover at this facility is insane. Every other week there was a new person calling us that we had never spoken to before, and they barely knew anything about our mother. She once went to the nurse's office complaining of shortened breath and they sent her to the hospital without contacting us, without sending her with her medications, with her medication list, or even with someone from Spring Hills!! That experience alone epitomizes how much they care about their residents. When we personally went to Spring Hills to get our mother's medical records, they refused to provide them to us because it was "after business hours." It was only 8 pm and our mother was sent to the hospital at 6 pm! They told us we could come back tomorrow and pay $1/page! After taking our mother's entire life savings they wanted even more money and did not care that the hospital needed this information for our mother's health!! I beg of anyone reading this review - before you place a loved one at Spring Hills, visit other communities. While this place looks nice and new, not only is the layout awful for the elderly, the staff is as well! The "care levels" they claim to have are all fake. They increased our mother's care level, charged us an additional $1,650/month, and never once sent a description of what the new care included. And even after that, they discharged her and kept charging for the care that they said they could no longer provide! The management of this facility repeatedly dodged our phone calls. They would send emails and we would call back immediately and they would not be there to speak. They even once allowed another resident's family to remove our mother from the facility and take her overnight without her medications and without informing us!! Spring Hills Cherry Hill is essentially a hotel with an all-you-can-eat cafeteria, claiming to offer services that they do not. Loved ones beware. You can do better than this place and your loved one deserves better.

Very closed-minded culture. You would almost think you were in a nursing home. So sorry they could not become the best in the area - if only they could have opened their hearts and minds to cutting edge policies and procedures. Strong smell of urine is common. Drop by on more than one unannounced occasion. Staff are not trained to treat residents with the utmost courtesy and respect at all times. Some are better than others of course, but too many are allowed (and even encouraged) to treat residents like children or "inmates." "Rules" and procedures that are discriminatory on every level.

I have a friend who lives at Seasons in their independent living apartments, which is really nice and spacious with friendly staff, so I didn't hesitate to choose the Courtyard at Seasons for rehab after my surgery. I had never been in that building before, and I quickly learned that I should have looked at it first. Same campus, right across the parking lot, a world of difference. I was amazed at the lack of professionalism of the staff! I expected the same level of refinement that I had seen when I visited the independent living building, but no such luck. I was clearly an inconvenience to the nurses, aides, and waiters. Not only did it take several minutes to get a response to my call light but once it was "answered" I still waited several more minutes for the assistance I needed! I was stunned to see what appeared to be blood stains on the carpet in my room! I did not have any confidence that I was in a sanitary environment and there appeared to be water stains on the carpet near the patio door. The walls were desperately in need of patching and paint. Thanks goodness the therapy team was competent and able to get me out of there quickly. The best part of my stay was definitely the day I left. Shame on me for not checking places out before I decided where to go, but at least now I know I should never go back to Courtyard at Seasons. The dining room looked very nice, but the staff did not fit the environment. They should maybe send their staff to McDonald's for customer service training.

We took him out. We did not particularly have a great experience with them, they told us they had two nurses on the floor and that they had at least six nurses aides around the clock, every time you pulled the call bell they would respond in 10-15 min and they had a sensor if the patient got out of bed they would respond within 15 min. That was not true. They are very nice, but very short handed. A couple times it took up to an hour to respond to a bell for help with the bathroom. The aide told us he may have been on the floor for an hour when he fell, before someone came. It took an average of 45 minutes getting to them when the bell was pulled. There were about 15 patients in the memory care, and just not enough staff. I wish they were a little more honest. As soon as they had our money the honeymoon was over. It took the nurse an hour and fifteen minutes when he was bleeding and on medication that made that dangerous. They did have activities a couple of times a week, before or after lunch. The activities director was very nice. We didn't care for the food. I tried some Key Lime pie and it was terrible, the breakfast was the same all the time. The eggs were always cold, they never offered water. The serving sizes were not on an individual basis and often times not enough for him. I chose this community for the convenient location. It's a beautiful facility and when you walk in you get the honeymoon treatment. They said they would monitor him for the first week and give me updates, but after the first time I met the head nurse, I never saw her again. They didn't have his paperwork ready after a 4 day notice for his doctor appointment. It was a facade to get you in and get your money.

The person in charge should not be in charge. That has been the biggest problem. I know everyplace is short staffed, but the issue is the director has no experience or training. I do not think he should be in charge of 40 adults who deserve better. I would not recommend them to other based on our experience. It was not a good experience at all. They took no accountability and if you point things out to them they do not change anything or recognize it is happening. The things that were promised were not carried through with and it was a shame. It looks good on the surface, but that is where it ends.

I would not recommend Lowrie Place to anybody. I walked in, and it had bad vibes from the start. It just seemed lifeless in there. Even though it was assisted living, it seemed more like a nursing home, and it smelled. It was just a sad experience because the residents all looked so sad. It was a smaller facility, but they did not have 24/7 nursing care, just a nurse on call. Yet the residents looked like they needed a lot more nursing care. It was a total turn-off. I would have had a problem putting anybody here.

They are like a used car salesperson. Whatever it takes to get you in the door and your loved one a resident. It has been a hassle from day one with empty promises and unreturned phone calls. The staff has been kind, management has been unwilling to budge -that is when I have heard from them. Promises a plenty upon signing the paperwork but my loved one still does not have what was guaranteed to her. They have not handled the COVID crisis well At All and frankly I am disappointed that my family has chosen Liberty Heights. I have been looking at other locations and plan to move my loved one as soon as this health crisis allows for such a move. With many options in the Springs, I would encourage others to do the same. There are 3 new facilities opening by the end of the year that look promising as well as others up North with more reasonable prices than Liberty Heights.

My mom lived at Brookdale in lisle for the past five years. Her first 2 years was very good and staff was excellent, food was great but over the years things had changed. The building is old and has many issues with HVAC system, the pool was broken multiple times, there has been staff constantly leaving due to management issues, the windows don't operate and they cant fix them, the TV system is antiquated, I can go on and on. They don't have good amenities as new facility have. We just moved my mom due to the lack of response to covid 19 they have many cases and deaths, you can check IDPH website. The management and corporate did not deal with the problem correctly. The food being delivered to the rooms is poor in fact my mom lost 15 lbs in 2 months due to the food provided being limited and poor in quality. The staff was bringing in covid affecting the residence. My mom lived in independent living but was in isolation non stop. The staff was good in the beginning of covid but the situation deteriorated quickly were the staff was aggravated and rude to the residence and not transparent about the issues within the building, in fact they are evicting people due to noncompliance to there rules which is ridiculous. I would NOT recommend Brookdale Lisle.

My parents moved here in 2018 - they moved from Florida into the Independent Living portion of Liberty Heights. They liked the attached garage and the view. At first the food was mediocre, but palatable. Then the "chef/cook" left, then things started going downhill. I spent an entire evening in the ER with my dad after he choked on a piece of beef that was so tough he could even chew it. I couldn't even cut mine, so I was shocked that he even took a bite. Then the kitchen manager changed and things got so bad that residents started taking complaints to corporate - to no avail. Unfortunately, the management had also changed since they first moved there, and he was less than receptive; in fact he moved his office to make himself less available. I have to buy groceries for my mom just so that she can get some nutritious, let alone edible food. The facility is dirty and worn, yet they raise the rent every January - but just got a notice that rents would go up in October this year (probably again in January.) This is NOT the place for anyone looking to enjoy their senior years. In two years my parents have paid enough to have bought a condo, or for me to have built an ancillary dwelling for them. At 88 years old, the thought of another move is too much for them - so they will continue to flush hard earned money down the toilet and still have to buy groceries and cook. In essence, they are paying $6,000 a month for a condo with an attached garage and nothing else - oh, wait, they push a button every morning so staff knows they are still upright. As far as "gated community," in the winter, the gates never close. I have left there at all hours of the night, only to have the gates wide opened. Go Elsewhere if you value your retirement and your portfolio.

Addington Place kicked my father out (sneakily sent him to a hospital and then refused to let him back in) *without notice* within one year of his residency. They kept an absurd amount of his money even though he wasn't even there for the majority of the month, and they kept the television that I bought for him when he moved in. Furthermore, they gouged him another $500 due to *their* accounting error, and are *still* ducking calls and not replying to emails. I explained that this $500 charge would cause him to become unqualified for Medicaid and put him at risk, but they don't care. We're trying to save his life, and Addington cares more about $500. His new facility still has not received his belongings that Addington claimed they mailed. I asked for an itemized inventory list and tracking number, but they refuse to provide any information. Please beware. Find any other place but Addington. They are a fake smile mask on a wicked, subversive monster.
