The nursing staff was friendly enough. However, when my great grandfather fell in his room in late March, he was moved to Southcrest where he had surgery and spent his final days until his death on [date removed]. They are seriously all about the money. Not even a simple “I’m sorry for you loss” from these people, but rather, you need to pay us for the ENITRE month of June plus this late fee. Oh, and for his podiatrist care in June 6th, um what? His toenails sure as hell weren’t clipped at the hospital the day before he died. If you want a compassionate place for your loved ones, this isn’t it. The kicker here is, we had his stuff cleared out the 1st or 2nd day of June and would have been happy to pay half, but you know, greed and what not. We simply can’t get over the fact that absolutely NO apology was issued when he fell or when his death occurred. Oh, and can we please get the details on his fall and when it actually occurred? Had he been lying there for hours? In the halls, you can frequently hear other residents screaming help me and it takes a long time for any help to arrive.

READ YOUR CONTRACT!!! Before you decide to entrust this place with your loved one, do yourself a HUGE favor and READ YOUR CONTRACT!! They require a 14 day notice before you decide to terminate your stay INCLUDING DEATH!!! So if your know the EXACT DATE your loved one will die, you can plan accordingly and save yourself a$1000-$2000 in PENALTIES for a untimely death!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Talk about insult to injury. This place has absolutely NO DECENCY and NO ETHICS to present a son who just lost his mother with an invoice for lack of notification of the 14 day window. IT"S A DEATH PENALTY what a terrible way to get one more payment. As a consolation we were told to READ YOUR CONTRACT. So I am passing this message along to everyone to not make the same mistake we did. While she was a tenant at Landon Ridge in Kingwood they had a management change due to excessive complaints that were supposed to have been remedied by a "new staff". This ended up being another miss in the performance department. Please look elsewhere for an ethical alternative. This place should not be on your list.

Worst Community Ever!! My family member was not taken care of at this community. The Director was pushy to get us to move in and promised a lot that was not delivered. The only plus was some of the caregivers who work there are compassionate and do a great job for very little pay. Others were rude and in it for a check. You have got to have a heart and passion for working in memory care otherwise do something else. There was an apparent lack of adequate training for the caregivers on communication skills, providing care and handling behaviors. My family member was often dirty and unkempt and her room a mess.

My mom moved from another community to Heartis in [date removed]. Mom needs daily reminders for all her daily physical needs. It has been 7 months and I've had four conversations with the executive director and the director of nursing and nothing has changed. The calendar showing the activities is a joke. I've taken Mom to an activity and no one shows up to oversee it. They have also left Mom at physical therapy two times. At that point is when I realized I would be moving my mom out as soon as possible. The employees that care for my mom are the sweetest. They have been very kind and loving.

If your parent(s) need any assistance, don't bother placing them at Andante. We had my father at this facility & we were constantly having to keep on top of the Staff. His room smelled urine since his clothes were piling up in his hamper, they should've had the courtesy to ask us would we like them to wash his clothes twice a week instead of once, instead allowed his room to smell. They gave us short notice before his meds were out with 2 pills remaining. He ran out of toilet paper & they would not give him a roll until the family dropped toilet paper off. The list goes on & on. Disgusted how this facility takes advantage of people's money. Don't bother!

This is the worse senior center I have ever seen!! Danagerest practices. They leave their residents at stores, doctors etc alone for hours and hours, some residents not able to be alone like this, panicking. When r they going to be picked up? Where do they wait to be picked up? What door did I come in? How do I pay for my items? These r some of the panicking questions they ask The activity director and/or assistant's job is to go with them to stores, events etc. If they could be alone in a big store, etc they wouldn't be in the nursing home. They r suppose to wear name badges, they do not. Sad

This place is horrible. Don't even think about housing a family member or friend at this home. My grandmother lived at The Heritage for two and a half years and they were constantly changing their story about what her rates for the next year would be. They didn't care at all about her financial situation and quoted her different rates than what they quoted other people. After multiple tries our family was unable to negotiate with Heritage to reach a compromise over the price tag. Instead they raised the rate even higher than they said they would. They couldn't even explain or justify the rate increase, using an incorrect points system that was unintelligible. An extra $200-$400/month is a lot of money. They should know that most elderly people are on a fixed income. They are literally just trying to bleed elderly people dry. Heritage (and their new director [name removed]) should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a beautiful facility, but I would not recommend it to anyone. My father died exactly a month to the day of when I moved him in. It is suppose to be a lock down facility. However, on numerous occasions I witnessed the door alarm going off for extended periods of time and no one responding. Also, the head nurse is incompetent and to say she is difficult to work with would be an understatement. The monitoring of medications and fluid intake should be a great concern to anyone with a loved one in this facility. Residents general welfare and prevention of falls is not watched at all. Taking my dad to this facility is the worst decision that I could have made. I will say that the aides on the floor are extremely kind and caring, but they have not been trained on how to attend to the needs of the patients.

My Mom stayed at Heritage for four years at least. In the past 12 months, until we moved out in January, it has had many management problems, staff upset, management changes, home office trouble shooters, etc. Management has started to charge for every little amenity. I asked for a carpet clean on the renewal or our fifth year (I think) year. It was denied they were going to charge to clean the carpet. In my opinion, the housekeeping has gone down hill dramatically over the last four years and they are now charging for a deep clean for example. there are many hidden costs now. In the last year, we discovered a flaw in the medicine giving system and the flaw has endangered my Mom twice. The flaw consists of the RN having to enter any new medicines into the computer before the medicine assistants are able to give it. So as happened with us, if you get sick on Friday, you don't get antibiotic until late Monday ,if then, because the RN has to get around to entering it into the computer. The second time this happen to us is too complicated to explain but it was the same underlying problem that caused my Mom not to get medicine for several days when she was sick. The buildings and landscaping are looking so old and unkempt. I am wondering about the financial health of the company who owns Heritage. We were going to sign the 5th year lease with the $150.00 rent increase. Then we find out that my Mom has been put in a level of care which costs more. This was without a meeting of any kind with the family. The underlying cause was she had eye drops at 4 pm and that caused her to go to the next level of care because she was given medicines more times a day. I said it makes no difference when she gets the eye drops. You can just do it with her evening medicines. The management then refused so we were having to absorb a rent increase of $550.00 per month. I gave verbal notice on [date removed] and written notice on [date removed]. To my surprise, as one can't give notice on [date removed], and the manager even said I accept your notice on [date removed], we were charged for two days rent. To their credit, they did find some refunds for days Mom was in the hospital so we didn't have to pay the full amount but it did seem very unfair after all the problems and our past loyalty.

My stepmom wanted to leave after a few months. Everything was distasteful, especially the food, but the rude management, too. The residents are too afraid to speak up because they get bullied for telling when something is wrong. When things break, they are too cheap to fix them and the residents suffer. If they complain they are humiliated. For all of this, the price seems to be the highest in Brevard.

The Brennity is very emotionally demeaning for the residents, from the management on down. Residents seem to live in fear of telling the management their true feelings about the Brennity . I am seeing things from the outside as a friend to a resident. I feel very sad at the poor food, which seems to be thrown at them like slop. They seem to accept it like dogs who have no choice. I hate to be so blunt but people do need to see beyond the pretty exterior. I am not giving my name so my friend do not get into trouble. I could cry at how the management treats the poor, elderly and defenseless grandmas and grandpas. The Brennity seems to know that once they get you, you can't go anywhere else. Hence, you can be treated poorly and have no recourse.

There are many unhappy people who had to move. They were told for the price that this place was excellent. In reality, this place isn't even average, and they charge 5 star hotel prices. Also, if you notice the reviews, the good ones are from people who never lived here. The people who have lived here, by in large, write bad reviews like I did.

Hello, My 80 year old parents just moved into one of the Adante cottages in [Removed]. They had been on a waiting list since last fall 2016. A cottage became available in the spring, but my father at the time was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks & it was just too much for them to deal with. A little history. My parents are moving from the home they have been in for 45 years. It's the home me and my two younger siblings grew up in. They built this home with the help of my grandfather, a fellow handyman, my brother and I, & other contractors needed for such things as electric, dry walls, & foundation. A cottage, which is exactly what my parents were looking for, came available for June. When my parents initially met with staff to discuss moving, they were quoted a price for the cottage. When the cottage became available & they met to sign move in documents, the price suddenly increase substantially. They also tried to add additional charges for a second person which was usually just applied to the apartments (not the cottages). They "dropped” those charges after my father challenged them. They still did not honor the original price agreed on. At this point in the down-sizing process it’s too late to begin a new search for other accommodations. It appears to me that Adante knows this and is exploiting it for all its worth. Fast forward.... they move in. My mother is compiling a growing list of [Removed], awful service, and condition issues from the staff to the cottage which includes two days of cold water because hot water heater was not working. As of today, the condition and maintenance issues continue to mount and the service response continues to lag. This past week, my mother was left to mop up puddles of water left by the plumber. This is a $4600 a month place in which the management had over 4 weeks to prepare for new tenants. This review is extended as a courtesy warning to future tenants. We are discussing other options concerning our response to Adante itself which includes (but limited to) contacting American Senior Housing Association, the BBB, the ALFA, A Place For Mom, and Senior Advisor. ___Addendum__ About 3 to 4 weeks after this posting, the executive director, [removed], began to make contact with my parents concerning the issues described above. After that first contact, he diligently and swiftly began to address every complaint even to the point of implementing organizational changes to insure that these problems are avoided in the future. Mr. [removed] has gone out of his way to be accessible and his demeanor has been genuinely cordial and apologetic. We accept their explanation that the problems were unintentional results of the proverbial “perfect storm” and other than some yet-to-be delivered paper work that will codify some promises made during this period we all could not be more pleased and satisfied. I say that with all sincerity. As of right now, I can say without reservations that [removed] and Adante have aligned themselves with the stellar reputation we expected going into this thing and this transition is now much, much less taxing. My parents now appear to be settling in very well in their new home.

Other than two employees whom my father adored, I can find nothing good to say about this place. The food was no edible (believe me, when I couldn't cut my chicken with a knife, I knew we had an issue in the kitchen). After multiple complaints, no action was taken. I felt horrible because I lived too far away to help him out. But the bed bug infestation was the straw for us. Can't blame Lyndale for them coming into the community, but the manor in which they handled, or didn't handle, the issue was far below what I felt they should do. No direct notice to those around. No information about how hard they are to rid. My father was disgusted, displaced for a number of days, and finally we moved him out, still unsure if any of the bed bugs came with us. I was truly disappointed and angered at the management team for not realizing their primary job is to care for the residents and provide safety, healthy living areas and have their best interests in mind. Hats off to [Removed] , the only two employees my father cared about.

The food service here is terrible and the least of management worries is resident satisfaction. They advertise transportation to appointments for residents, but when asking for arrangements the administrator complains and tells families to provide transportation themselves. The memory care area has a massive bug problem. This property is sub par and not what they advertise.
