A Place for Mom has scored Sagora Senior Living with 8.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 808 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Sagora Senior Living has 4,550 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
We moved my aunt in because we were told that it was the best place in town. It is also close to our new house. Within a month, my aunt had gained 20 lbs, she was swollen from head to toe and having trouble breathing. Because we were new in town (in fact we hadn't completely moved to San Angelo) I asked the charge nurse for a referral to a doctor and asked her to make the arrangements for her medical care. They put her (age 103, with poor hearing and vision) on the bus and took her to the dr. There was no one accompanying her, only the bus driver. I wasn't told of when her dr visits were or the results of the exam, either from the dr or Brayden Park. She was taken to the dr like this more than once in the first 2 months she was there. She tried to tell the nurse that she was having trouble breathing, but I was told later that the nurse thought she was just complaining. (That nurse was fired several months later). (My husband was very ill and he was admitted to the hospital before we completed our move to San Angelo). After the move was completed, I was able to take Aunt [name removed] to the dr, she was immediately sent to the ER, with a heart rate of 170, and congestive heart failure. After she was discharged from the hospital, she was returned to Brayden Park, where she within a month- six weeks she was back in the hospital again for the same thing. When she was discharged that time, a space at the Baptist Skilled Nursing facility was available, so she was moved there. She never returned to Brayden Park. I felt like the administrators talked a good game, but I felt that there was a lack of follow through. I felt that the aides were very caring and concerned about their patients. I tried to ask for a low salt diet for her, but was told "they don't cook like that." Otherwise, the food was fine, everyone got to order their meal from a menu, and the food was at least reasonably warm when it was served. We ate several meals there with her. The place was kept clean, but there were problems with the maintenance of the building; the elevator door didn't shout properly and shook in transit, the front automatic handicap doors were broken for several months, and it took them awhile to finish roofing part of the building. All of these problems were observed last fall and winter. I haven’t been over there since she died in January.
I am very sorry but I have not been treated well here and I do not think they should get any recommendation. Very poor service quality and concern here and so many lies

My in laws are having a very difficult time getting their refund for their unit. We are approaching a year and it seems like all they do is stall. It is meaningful money that they need for assisted care as they are 86 and 90 years old. It’s outrageous it is taking so long. Will revise my review once my in laws are paid.

When I moved here, I considered it "a little corner of Heaven." Since Sagora purchased the facility, IT IS HELL (and I am not exaggerating). (1) The food is of extremely poor quality; (2) too few Staff members, and the "good" ones quit or were "let go." (3) Every time we turn around, there is a monetary increase. Sagora is only interested in the rent money; residents are treated like trash. (4) The description(s) in their written information is inaccurate. (5) The positive reviews prior to [date removed] were about features provided by the previous owner--and enjoyed by happy residents.

My mother has been in assisted living at Ellison for about 3 years. They never have enough help. They've taken rights away from the residents. They are paying a huge amount for care that they cannot even get. The bus is always broken down. Which puts it on the family to take them to doctors appointments. Which wouldn't be bad if your family member was mobile, when they're not mobile....we don't have the training to take them where they need to be taken. We're paying for a service that cannot even be used. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I know this place is a business, but if it was any other business, it would not be frequented.

Read reviews of Aberdeen carefully! I notice recent 5 star reviews are NOT from residents or families. My mother just left Aberdeen after almost two years. The CNA’s and former nurse (who just left after 6 years) were very sweet and caring-I’d give them 5 stars! In the 2 years my mom was there they’ve had multiple executive directors, three activity directors and multiple marketing people. The activities were pitiful, often resident lead, as they can’t seem to keep an activity person. The current director is NOT resident or family focused at all. (If you tour with her, see if she knows a single resident’s name) Also, read the contract carefully as you must give 30 days notice even if moving your loved one to a higher level of care. Sadly since Aberdeen was bought by Sagora they seem more focused on profit than the residents. At Aberdeen my mom was alone in her room, at her new place she is fully engaged and truly living! Cannot recommend Aberdeen to anyone!

Asher point independent living in Lincoln Nebraska is a terrible place for anyone to be. My uncle has been there a year or so, and his experience is that the food is substandard, the room the apartment is extremely small, there is limited transportation, there are no activities, the kitchen and serving staff sometimes do not show up to work. In two instances, no cook arrived to fix breakfast so the office people ordered sandwiches from McDonald's. [name removed] has some allergies to food that have never been recognized and some days he cannot eat what is presented. They have chicken at least one time a week and he cannot eat that. He cannot have dairy and no accommodations have been made for non-dairy items. Please do not recommend Asher point. They are advertising online erroneous information for the apartments and the care received there.

The facility can not keep staff, every time I visited there was different staff. I'm totally upset with the lack of staff and the lack of communication with the patients. An example, my wife was experiencing a medical emergency and the nurse wanted to call an ambulance, she was reprimanded and told to not call, as a result they had to call anyway because she could not stay in control of her own breathing. She was taken to the hospital and stayed there for at least two weeks and was then admitted to the hospital hospice center and never returned to Lyndale. My daughter in law and her extended family were aware she couldn't return so they cleared her room so they could admit a new client, when she informed the registrar that the room was empty they told her they wanted a 30 day notice and they would charge one month fee to clear the facility. This is the most expensive and uncaring place I have ever been associated with. All they want is money. Several times I visited my wife and her room was in disarray and things came up missing. I reported that to the front desk and they apologized and that was it. [name removed] lived until August and passed in her sleep at thee Hospice facility in Graham, Tx. They were so helpful and they responded immediately to any situation that arose. They said they had never heard of a nursing facility charging for a 30 day notice. They were great and [name removed] lived comfortably until her death. I still get notices in the mail from Lyndale asking for the 30 day fee. I'm totally disappointed with my experience with Lyndale and cannot recommend it to anyone that needs nursing help. Not a place for mom, it's a place to make money without regard for the quality of health to the residents. Don't be fooled by their initial impression, it's a scripted story. I strongly disagree that it should be considered as a place for mom.

Lease changes when ever they want it too. We signed a lease and I move her in and everything changes. Mold growing in her room from get go and they didn't care about getting it gone. They act like wad here but several others has same issues. Cleaning rooms was done if they had enough help. Which they always short handed daily even on cooking food .Food was a issue for sure and not due to the cooks. Was due to the owner of the place. Going cheap. Same vegetables daily. Squash always and residents told them needing vegetables. Food...same stuff over and over. They has some activities. Cost to be there. .depends what is needed.

My mother passed [date removed] we were told that she would owe 14 days of rent after death. We promptly removed all her belongings within 2 days of death. The October auto debit was to be for 8 days, to our surprise it was the entire month over $[removed]. we promptly called and were told refund would be issued within 4 weeks, it is has been 6 months. We call every week only to be lied to telling us check is in mail, then next call some other reason. Last call with [name removed](manager) we were told she is new and just learning systems but would make ours a priority, that was 3 weeks ago without any communication. Left 10 messages at corporate, no return calls. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY they steal your money.

This used to be an elegant place to live. Now the maintenance of the building is poor, the food is very poor, entertainment is very limited and management comes down hard on the residents when they try to discuss these issues. Despite all this rent continues to increase 3-6% a year without fail. Now they are adding charges for rides, take out trays., exercise classes, parking, and anything else they can think of. There is no medical assistance for independent living residents. They have the biggest apartment s in the area but aside from that things are unpleasant.

Sadly, this facility has a big problem in the area of the administrative team. Overall the care staff (caregivers and Med. Techs) were kind and caring. However, the Executive Direct and Wellness director were often unresponsive to messages. When we brought questions or raised concerns, it was met with what our Dad was doing incorrectly in the facility (not pushing his button correctly was the most common). This was simply untrue as myself and his Home Health nurse observed for ourselves on several occasions. The final straw came when the Exec. Dir. told me they could not care for my father any longer. His outside nurse and Home Health nurse both stated that his level of care had not changed in the 6 weeks he had been there. We feel it was simply due to the concerns we raised. I also reached out to the management company via call and email and never received a response.

My mother has been at this facility for over 2 years, and I'll say this: If you care for your loved ones, don't take them here. There is a 1k character limit, so I'll try to be brief: *This place frequently smells of urine and other odors and the rest room by the dining area is terribly unkempt (urine on floor, feces in toilet, faint mold on ceiling *There's not enough staff to give the care needed. The don't follow-up as required and considering the 4-5 staff members for over 100 residence, and it's evident why families complain when it can take an HOUR for somebody's call lights to be answered. *It's not worth the price (which they'll raise your rent without warning). In short, It's definitely not the environment or care they promised and falls far short of the expectations they set (and will charge you greatly for). And for what you're paying, you'd expect the elevator (that's been an issue for 2-years) to be fully functional. Just take it from me, you don't want your mother here.

During my mother’s stay, I’ve tried to get the director to see what goes on in her building during the day & nights. I’ve had medication issues more than I needed to deal with. I was advised my mother would be taken care of. That’s not true, the staff are so rude to many of the residents. I have witnessed this or they’re missing when someone needs assistance. Don’t get me wrong the building itself is beautiful. Majority of the staff we have had just do not care and it shows.

I would not recommend Heritage Place Assisted Living and Memory Care to no one. The cost is too high.
Do NOT place your loved one at Landon Ridge. If your loved one exhibits signs of decline, they will not notify you. If the signs become notably worse, they will not notify you. If an ambulance has to be called, they will not contact you. If your loved one declines being taken to the hospital against the advise of EMS, they will not contact you. You will not have the opportunity, when given so many of them, to be informed of the situation until it is too late. The protocols at Landon Ridge are significantly flawed and not followed. We scheduled a meeting with [name removed]and the employee who was working the day of the incident to find out what happened. Plenty of details were shared. It was made clear that they willing did not follow state protocols - or their own. They could not provide a reason for dropping the ball, only a sorry. I was able to collect more information from other sources and put together the full timeline. LR even failed disclose the full story. How can this be acceptable?

JUST CITED 14 TIMES BY the STATE for many issues! My Grandmother is currently there and we are moving her out this month. This company is all about making money … most companies are NOT at the expense of the RESIDENTS! Beware there are better options for [removed] thousand a month. Broken elevators no actives on the assisted living side. Horrible low quality meals and when they run out of food they will make a soup from all the leftovers. My grandmothers room has went weeks without getting cleaned and trash taken out. They have only changed her bedding twice in seven months. Supposed to be done after every shower. They can’t even keep staff so they condensed at the positions and required staff do 3 jobs. It’s horrible…. Don’t even waste your time! Everyone that may have had a good memory of this place… Sagora who operates out of state took over. I feel bad for the staff and residents.

My parents lived here over 6 years. At first it was great when it was [community removed]. It has since been bought out twice and has gotten really bad in the last couple of years. Sagora is the current owner. Corporate greed! They overcharged my parents bank account a few months ago when they bought the place. I have made ten calls and been In their office five times as has my Dad. They make promises to get you to go away but they have no intention of returning money they stole from the elderly. The kitchen has been closed a couple times due to cockroaches. They sprayed the kitchen sending cockroaches to all the apartments around the kitchen and did nothing. I moved my parents out. I am not done trying to get the money back they stole from my parents and I think folks have the right to know what kind of conditions they are moving into!

Bristol Park staff were very responsive and nice, until she left. We paid them over [fee removed] for a one-night stay. No refund and I can't even get them to return my calls or letters to discuss. Considering finding a lawyer to resolve.
