Not exactly what they told us and promised us prior to move in!

What they tell you prior to signing the lease is not what is exactly happening after the lease is signed. They changed things. Also the cleaning services they promise are NOT good at all. All the residence know cleaning is terrible but they don't do anything about it. The management staff is not listening. The food is not that good on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) the food is about a rating of a 5. The wait staff in the dining room some are friendly some have attitudes like they are doing you a favor and yet your are the paying customer! They do not offer to help or go out of their way at all. They have elected now to charge visitors for a meal and the meals are not worth it, especially when the family members living there DO NOT eat all three meals everyday so why should they have to pay once in awhile for a visitor meal! They talk a good game in the beginning when you are looking at places but the follow up on services need work.

Not that great but better than many

in general this place is fine. It's safe and clean. However, since meal time is one of the most important times of the day for this population, this is a 0 in my book. My mother lives here and i have eaten with her. The food is not good and the portions are very small. They often tell you that you can't have something additional like a slice of bread or something that is missing from the salad bar. They ask for feedback but nothing gets changed. They have a brunch on sundays. if you go to church and don't get back until 12:15 or so, you will miss out. food is picked over and sometimes they won't fix you an omelet etc. They don't do a good job of replenishing things. So if you aren't there at the beginning you miss out. The rent isn't bad when you start but then they raise it from 8-10%. They will tell you they can accommodate dr. appts but you can only go on certain days and then you have to be willing to wait sometimes up to an hour for them to pick you up. They also take people who are not independent. i've seen folks who need to be in memory care. I realize some may be independent when they start there but they take some at the beginning who are not appropriate.

Confusing Layout!

The heritage Tomball had a hospital feel to it. The place was not welcoming. The room they showed us that my loved one would be in was down a long hallway far away from the dining room. The overall layout of the community was very confusing. The rooms looked like hospital rooms, it just was not what we were looking for.

A Home for Mom

When we toured the facility we were so pleased. Once we chose it and mom Moved in things were great. She did very well and loved it. Staff changes a lot and that's hard for the elderly. Aside from that, the only other issue is the dining room. My mom hardly wants to go down to meals now, due to not having a set person to sit with or a set table. All the residents have certain seats and people they've always sat with and won't allow any other person to sit there. I think they should assign seats according to apt number. This way people branch out and everyone has a place to be. The way it is now, makes my mom feel insecure and upset to be asked to " not sit here or there". It's quite childish to be honest. Some of the elderly are a lot like small children. The staff should step up. This is after all "HOME".

Downhill slide

When we first moved my mother in several months ago, things were wonderful. Since that time there has been a complete turn around with the staff and the care has been awful. No one answers the button when you push it and my mother says she waits all day for help. When I approach the nurses about the problems, no one seems to care that my mother is unhappy and I don't see any changes. On more than one occasion, I have witnessed the management and nurse supervisor speak very poorly and rude to the other staff. Very disappointed in the changes being made, they are certainly not for the better

Disappointing after the hard sell.

I heard good things about the Brennity, but apparently the latest management company has let things slip greatly. While visiting recently, I witnessed aids sleeping, playing on their cell phones and generally not looking at the residents whose care they are responsible. My parent's bathroom was absolutely filthy - my feet stuck to the floor in the bathroom. When complaints were presented to a nurse, these complaints were brushed aside as unimportant. Medical decisions are being made by a nurse (who you rarely see out on the wing my parent is on) without consulting the family which I find very troubling. Food allergies aren't given enough attention. Management really needs to start paying attention to what the staff is doing on the weekends when they aren't to be found.

Be advised - taking a down hill slide

Staff turn-over is extremely high - used to be very good but is falling apart - kind of scary - You never know who is going to be in the front offices - one day they are there and the next day someone new has taken their place - really worried about the direction that corporate is taking-we will see

The head nurse who did the assessment, was really on top of her game! She impressed me the most of the nurses I saw. I wasn't really impressed with the unit upstairs. It was kind of dark and dingey. They had a therapy dog that was kept in the directors office in a cage.

Not completely satisfied

I was so impressed when I first toured emeritus. The place is only a year old so it's very clean and bright. The consultant raved about the food and complimented her caregivers. My MIL has been a resident in the memory care unit since mid October and I'm so frustrated! When I visit there sometimes isn't someone at the front desk. I can count on one hand the number of times the director of the unit has been there. I think she has two positions there and spends most if her time at the other position. The helping staffers are very good to my MIL. They really care about her and she considers them get friends. The food is not wry good and my MIL complains about it constantly. I'm not sure u could recommend this facility to a friend.

They Need Memory Care Activities

Overall I would say they're very clean but there is a huge turnover. They've taken the activities director out of the memory care side so they're just in the assisted living side and they don't have any activities for the memory care folks. The people are really sweet but they don't share information across shifts so I'm constantly having to tell people things again and again. I'm a little frustrated with the activities thing because we're paying good money for that to be a part of the package. It's nice, it's pretty, it's clean and they keep my mother clean and fed which I'm very grateful for but I'm frustrated with the activities.

Review for Elison of Statesman Club

We've enjoyed the programs, food, and the apartment works well for Mother. However, less than a month after they moved in, the price was raised by [amount removed] Mother also wanted a shower put in where there was a bathtub, for safety. The price gouge of over [amount removed] was horrible. Then, turns out they just put a shell in. They can't add hand bars. The shower is unusable. They now want another [amount removed] to fix that. They don't have a driver for their bus so that perk isn't available. The pool is out of commission and has been since they moved in. The hood vent in the kitchen doesn't work so their menu is limited. Generally, we aren't happy as we feel they are being unfair regarding prices. Many residents are moving out. They have 45 empty units. They are not taking care of basic repairs and maintenance.

The Brennity at Daphne

Yes, hire more staff so that they can provide the service they advertise and not have to con people into hiring sitters.

Lacking Qualified Head Personnel

Don't do it!! If you are considering moving your loved one to Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living in Tulsa OK, please reconsider. My parent has resided there for almost two years and we have seen a rapid decline during that time. The employees are fired on a whim which is so confusing on the elderly family member who trusts and confides in these individuals. We have seen many employees fired or forced to leave during this two year timeframe. This includes two Executive Directors, the Head Nurse, a couple of Nurse Aides, several Activities Directors, at least one sales Director, several Head Chefs, countless aides, numerous Front Desk workers and others come and go. I understand this may be a common practice for this type of facility, however the problem is mainly due to Sagora hiring inexperienced Executive Directors which led to the majority of these unexpected departures. This kind of turnover is unacceptable and we are currently looking to move our parent to a new facility.

Safe and clean but lacking

Overall the Brennity is beautiful - the property, the rooms, presentation etc. Sales and the resident manager were nice and did a hell of a sales job. Reality is, the dining experience is TERRIBLE in the AL building: Food is ice cold every single meal; the staff does not replenish drinks or bring condiments, etc; the service takes at least 90 minutes per meal; the portions are tiny and the staff is SO RUDE. Mom still doesn't have a nameplate on her room - 7 weeks later (talk about feeling like an outsider) The beautician quit and they still haven't replaced her (over two months ago) It took mom 2 weeks to get on the SHOWER schedule and it's still inconsistent. If the OT and PT staff wasn't so good to her, we would have moved her before week 3. We are SOO disappointed because dad was planning to join her in the IL cottages. NOT anymore. What a shame.

Poor experience

When new management took over 2 weeks after my father moved in. Everything when downhill. Many people have moved out. Activities have decreased, the maintenance is lacking on the hallways. Food quantity and choice have decreased. Not too much good to say at this point.

Review for The Heritage Tomball Senior Living

They have no patience with the residents that need more assistance. We moved mom out. We were not happy with the place.

Our families experience

Heritage Oaks could improve on the food, the management and the doctor response. There could be more availability to the families. They could also have better options for pill management.

Faculty and staff get an a+ rating. I'm having trouble determining where to start so let's start with the breakfast. You had your choice of eggs most of the time if you want them scrambled. The scrambled eggs liquid eggs but they cooked it like a casserole about 1 and 1/4 in thick dipped out with a spoon one solid egg. The milk 99% of the time was powdered. The only time I could tell it was not powdered that once there were two weeks they would bring out in a gallon jug and fort directly from the to your cereal or glass. They serve water with ice with every meal the containers they put it in the garage is only been used for tea and had real heavy tea stains on it. Not very appetizing. The staff did not seem like they knew what was going on although in the meals for lunch and dinner it would have a standing where you could order a cheeseburger hot dogs, grilled cheese if it was available sometime you none of it was available. The staff could look at the how many orders of hamburgers and hot dogs that went out and determined that the meal was not very emphasizing. I had complained several times about it and every time they said they was going to get it fixed but nothing ever changed. The three meals a day prepared was the main thing that I went there for. The the apartment was supposed to be cleaned once the week, when I moved out before I could put it in my house my daughter had to clean off the tables and a lot of things that should have been cleaned there every week. They furnished the sheets but the only thing they had most of the time was either for a queen or a king and I had a full size bed. They were supposed to take you to doctor's appointment within a 10 mile radius however the 10 mile radius turned out to be 10 road miles so that is very misleading. I have more if you'd like to read about it. They have a beautiful building there which is classy and it's well maintained the janitors are very useful and helpful going out of their way to make you comfortable. The grounds were kept beautifully. So to me they violated their contract and I moved out early violating the contract also. I tried to work with them but they would not work with me. I hope this was helpful I would not recommend it to anyone that expects good meals and clean apartments again which was promised through the contract.
