The facility was pretty nice, but the prices were way out our range. I wish they had not wasted our time and discussed that up front. Anyway, other facilities may be the same but the rooms were very small for the price. It was actually smaller than the nursing home (rehab) mom was in last fall.

When we went it was very quiet, we didn't see anyone, she just showed us an apartment and some hallways leading up to apartments and that was about it. We didn't go at meal time so we didn't try the food but it looked clean enough to me.

Very Uneven

At first the place was lovely. My mother-in-law's room was nice and bright. The staff was friendly and helpful. Then managers changed. Apartments were not well-cleaned (we wrote our names in the dust; when I asked about dusting I was told the cleaners wouldn't move any personal items). Nothing was moved to vacuum and the same bits of paper or popcorn would be left for weeks. Managers no longer liked the "old folks" sitting in the lobby area because they dozed off. They became hyper-critical. We were originally told my MIL could "age in place" but as she needed more assistance the managers became more critical and called the family every time there was any problem. It is an independent living facility but they really seem to want very active, younger seniors only. The food was okay but not great. It varied depending on the staff. The chef who was there originally made excellent fresh baked goods but then he left. One big problem is lack of staff--the housekeeping staff is also the serving staff much of the time. Everyone eats at the same time so the wait can be lengthy for food service. There is no real activity director. Most of the activities were provided by the home health providers so they were frequently cancelled. There were few outside trips other than to the weekly Walmart runs. As a final blow, we left a bag of stuff for Goodwill in the apartment when we were moving my MIL to another facility. When we returned to get it, management had told the cleaning staff that the apartment had been vacated and the items were removed--a week before the end of the lease and before we had turned in the keys. Thank goodness there was nothing of value.

Good for Lower Care Needs

It's a much larger facility. Too large, to the point that my dad didn't get the attention that he needed. There were 3 floors and an elevator. It's a really nice facility; very elegant and the food is okay. It's a little bland, the food is, but the facility is really nice and the service is average. When my dad was there, they were supposed to clean his room everyday and that wasn't always the case. If you have somebody that doesn't really need a lot of attention then it's probably a great place but if you're looking for a secure facility this is probably not the right place.

Everything good just a tad understaffed

They really had little to no activities for the memory care unit. They didn't seem to have enough people working for the number of residents they had. The food was fine and the staff was friendly, really the only issue is that the memory care unit seemed understaffed while our loved ones were there. I would cautiously recommend this community, just check to ensure you are comfortable with the staff to resident ratio.

Not great for people who need more assistance/memory care

I ended up moving my dad out, I didn't really feel like they were able to meet his needs. He was beginning to decline with his memory and he needed more assistance and I expressed my concerns about them needing to prompt him more but he wouldn't rememebr to bathe or take out his dentures. I wasn't comfortable that he wasn't going to bolt out of there; I would even come in the side door and the alarm went off but it was just a ding and I didn't feel like it was secure enough. They hjad too many patients to deal with and they just couldn't give him the care he needed. When we were signing up we were talking about decline and they said they would be able to assist him more and retest and evaluate him, and they did that once but he was changing so rapidly; they had less staffing than what a memory care unit would have so it wasn't a good fit for him anymore.

Be careful

They give you false information when they are trying to sell you the community. They tell you everything they offer and what they provide but then there is no follow through and none of those things happen. The meals have been cut in half and there have been times when the residents have waited at least an hour just to get food. When you need maintenance done it is impossible to get it done, you fill our work order but no one comes and fixes the issues. It really seems like a nightmare as the days go on it seems to be getting worse. They tell you certain things are included in the price but when you receive your bill you see additional charges for those things. You have to pay extra for the monitor device and if you need an extra handrail or stool you have to pay extra for that as well. I would be careful when looking into this community and would ask a lot of question and ensure things are put into writing. They will tell you what you want to hear to get the sale.

The contact name I had was not there, but someone else was there to show us around. She had forgotten we were coming in today so she was not prepared for us, and it caused her to be flustered from the start. She was nice and pleasant enough, but it really seemed to throw her for a loop and she seemed nervous the whole time. They were evidently short-staffed today. We heard several mentions of someone covering for someone else. During lunch it was mentioned that the residents were getting ice cream and a cookie for dessert because they were short-staffed and they would usually get something like pie. I wouldn't have thought anything about the dessert if that hadn't been mentioned. Speaking of lunch - I may have misunderstood, but I thought these appointments were going to include having lunch there, tasting the food, eating with the residents?? Was that not right? Maybe they just didn't relay that message to her. Nothing was said about it, and we didn't mention it because 1) she was nervous and seemed to especially be nervous when we went in the dining area and started talking to some of the residents.2) the food looked nasty - choice of mashed potatoes with pieces of meat and gravy on top, with brussel sprouts,or a BLT with fritos. 3) they have assigned seating - my friend and I would have had to sit at different tables (which we could have done) or sit bat at table without residents. Without direction from her, we just left well enough alone. We did stand and talk to one table of residents (the ones that she called the 'popular table' which we found strange). They only had great things to say about the staff though - their friendliness, attentiveness, etc. They said my mom would love it there; that they are happy; it took some adjustment, but not too long; feels like home. When she finally walked away at one point to assist a resident with a walker, I asked the residents at that table 'ok, quick while she's gone, what do you NOT like here? Is there anything bad, really?' One lady said 'sometimes you have to really stand up for yourself to get what you want. Like sometimes you have to fight for your food.' I said, 'what do you mean, fight for your food?' She said, 'Well, they give you a menu, and something may sound good, but it may not really be good when you get it. I'll tell them 'this doesn't taste good - I want something else.' They'll try to remind me that I ordered it, and I'll have to remind them that I pay for this place and for my meals and I need food I can eat.' Then she said, 'Basically, just like anywhere, sometimes you just have to stand up for your self. If you can stand up for yourself, they'll eventually get you what you want.' (Yes, she was fiesty.) Same lady also told us that when she first got there she was assigned to a different table (pointed them out) but they wouldn't talk to her so she asked to be moved to this table. Everyone else at all the other tables looked sad, and no one was really talking. It felt like old people that were eating like kindergartners. Everyone in their assigned seat and everyone quiet while they eat. She did show us several rooms, and included at least one of each type of room. The entire facility was very clean and tidy. There were a couple of rooms that smelled, but I think that was just a personal thing with the person in those rooms, so I feel bad even mentioning it, and it could have been that housekeeping had not been to that room yet. Although...really, she should have known those wouldn't be good rooms to show. One of them I couldn't even stay in very long, and fanned my nose while I was in there. The rooms were very nice and were roomier than I expected although they still seem so small. Of course, this is the first such place I've visited, so my expectations may have been off. It had very much of a hotel feel to it. Also, some of the rooms seemed like a long walk from the main area.

Nice facility, met a couple of lovely and fun residents. Did get the feeling that management is more "by the book" than intuitive, if that makes any sense. Got the feeling that individual concerns would be addressed by a phone call to corporate rather than through any sort of creative solution-finding process.

Traffic to and from was too much. The Director was very nice and informative. Seemed empty, not depressing but lonely. Didn't love it
