Very nice community but they only have studio apartments that are great for one person but too small for two people. They didn offer much of a price break for 2 studios when I indicated that a couple would want to live there

Excellent Assisted Living Facility

Very nice facility and staff, would definately recommend to someone needing very light assistance also great food and activities. But mom needed a higher level of assistance than they were able to provide once mom asked to be placed on Hospice. The respite care level of service was just not comprehensive enough to meet her needs. Again I would rate 5 stars for their assisted living capabilities alone. But have to give it a 2 star for the level of service and training given to employees for those residents in need of additional care. That averages out to an overall star rating of 3.

short staffed

I am expecting things to improve at Beckett Lake. They are in the middle of a transition to a Brookdale community, and a major remodel, so everything is in disarray. With all of the changes, things are falling through the cracks. We have shown up for activities listed on the daily calendar, and there is no one around. The TV in the lounge doesn’t work. There have been several maintenance issues. Laundry service is supposed to be included, but when they have done the laundry, the clothes come back unfolded in a wrinkled pile. They seem to be short staffed, not enough Aides for the number of residents. Overall it has been a difficult transition, but the staff is really friendly and they seem to be genuinely interested in the welfare of the residents, so I’m hopeful that thing will improve when the remodel is finished.

GREAT GREAT GREAT

A place for Mom provided me with a wide variety of choices to select from which I liked a lot. This community was very affordable for the amount budgeted, and it was a really nice community, The care was very adequate and they offered many activities to the residents. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Not impressed

I have a relative who has been there for less than one month and I am not impressed. I have visited this relative twice a week and have seen NO "brain stimulating" activities taking place. Residents are crowded around a LOUD television and that is all the brain stimulation I have witnessed. Meal times consist of LOUD music playing for the enjoyment of those SERVING the meals. The loud music clearly irritates the patients. High functioning patients are mixed with low functioning and that is not good. One man constantly tries to come into my aunt's room and lie on her bed. Several of her personal items have gone missing. (several articles of clothing, some lotion and a dog leash) They are not valuable, so I suspect these items were taken by other residents.

Nobody is perfect, they could be a little better.

Nobody is perfect, they could be a little better. I think the caregivers need more training with memory care needs. Most of them are pretty compassionate, but there are those that maybe shouldn't be caregivers. For the most part they are pretty good, I was expecting a little more because it's memory care. They are not all C.N.A's here. The food is pretty good. I liked that it was smaller. The people up front, were really friendly and nice.

They did not have a welcoming feel to the place in my opinion. The rooms felt dark and formal. The bathroom vanity was tall, not friendly to a wheelchair resident. The person giving the tour seemed surprised when I pointed that out. They were very matter of fact and did not seem to care if we were interested or not in their facility.

I enjoyed my visit to this facility. The population appeared to be more diverse (in age, health, and race). The Executive Director, Brandon Stephens, is relatively new and seems to still be excited about his new responsibility. Meals are not served on a strict schedule, and the dining experience appeared to be pleasant for those who were in attendance during my visit. Everything was in line with my top 2 picks (Atria of Buckhead and Merrill Gardens at Dunwoody), but one thing bothered me during the visit, and an additional opportunity came to mind later. During the visit, it was VERY obvious that the carpet was stained. Brandon proposed that the stains in the dining area were wine stains and that carpet in that area and other areas of the building had not been treated and/or cleaned properly in the past. From my perspective, a visitor seeking a place for a parent to call home, the carpet had been neglected, and it caused me to question other less obvious maintenance issues that may exist. The opportunity that came to mind after my visit was the number of vacant rooms that had yet to be 'turned,' and that were in disarray. There were tripping hazards in the rooms, and the rooms were not locked. At least one (1) room did not have a doorknob. I fear what could happen if a member of the community wandered into the area and suffered a fall and/or injury. I was told that they were well below capacity as a result of vacanies that occurred during renovations, so I can't understand the delay in turning the rooms and/or at least cleaning and clearing them. Brandon shared that Brighton staffs more caregivers per person than the state requires. I wonder if they attempt to make up for that by lowering their standard for maintenance. I still like the community, but I would not feel comfortable choosing it for my father while it is in the current condition. I was assured that they carpet would be cleaned and/or replaced within a short timeframe, but I can't understand even that short delay...

Legacy Ridge at Peachtree was okay, except there was not enough diversity. I was shocked by the conversations we were trying to have with the director, who didn’t have any information on diversity/inclusion of black/brown people in the facility when we asked about it. They just need to be more educated, especially somebody at the director level.

Nice staff but overworked.

The staff is nice but are overworked, they aren't able to keep up with everything but they are doing best they can to attend to the residents, however the aids were very good to our loved one. The food served at this community was fine. The layout was okay, and the rooms were about adequate in size.

Proceed with Caution

The sales staff was super helpful and accommodating with a short time frame before my mother was released from her rehab facility. That is where the good ended unfortunately. My mother did not participate in activities as she was only there for just over 1 week before going back to the hospital for a raging UTI. Communication overall was very challenging to get ahold of anyone. Not sure if they were short staffed but if you give a new resident a way to beep for assistance you would expect a timely response. Even after being told their expectation and shared with my mother they didn't meet even what they said. My mother was to have surgery and meds were to be stopped. Paperwork was provided and they were informed however they still gave meds so surgery had to be cancelled last minute. Once I was able to speak with them on a number of occasions so I understood clear expectations they always said the right thing but did not follow through. The facility itself was lovely. Unfortunately due to all of the issues and errors my family determined that my mother would not return. On top of this we continued to get bills from their pharmacy as they never told them to quit sending her meds. I called the pharmacy a number of times and attempted to get ahold of [name removed] the director at Colonnade but it was to no avail. She was not going to pay for something she did not receive because they (Colonnade) didn't communicate that she was in the hospital and they didn't need the meds.

Too much to do, too little time

It was a very rushed procedure as the rehab facility cut him loose faster than we thought and wanted him to have 24 hr care. But Forest heights assisted living doesn't provide that. At the last minute they told me I'd have to hire someone or stay with him. I had already paid [amount removed] for entry fee plus one month. There was no way I could hire someone with a few hours notice. So I had to bring him home instead. They would only refund half the monthly fee. And it was 2 weeks before they would do that. No one bothered to call back or see how they could help. It's a lovely facility but just not for him at this time.
