Our family liked the congenial staff, Dining director talking with us . U could Tell he has great pride with his meal planning. Uses local ingredients. Also the facility provides swimming Plus wi bowling which hits my father interest. His apartment Is spacious with new carpet and Freshly painted. Staff seems concerned With the care for each resident.

It has been a while since I had taken a tour of this place but I have no complaints of how things had went. I thought the staff did a nice job with the presentation and where very knowledgeable about everything they had to offer. It was just not the right location or right time when we had looked at this place.

mom has alzheimers and we had to move her from up north with very short notice and the staff at brookdale jensen beach was wonderful in helping get all i needed to make this move as painless as possible- yes there are newer and fancier facilities in area-but the price is fair for a secure unit and the staff is excellent and very caring- the facilities are slated for some improvements-hope that it is implemented but the kind care overules some new curtains

Everything that the community has done for my dad has been good so far.

This community seemed clean when we visited. The people we met were nice. This community does offer a gorgeous view. The community seems dated and compartmentalized. The community did not feel very open and bright.

My mother has only been there for less than two months but she is adjusting. She has met some lovely friends. I think the receptionists could be friendlier when you first walk in as this sets the atmosphere. My mom's room has had some problems but the staff seems to be on it - I'm sure as time goes on I'll be better able to evaluate this facility but so far my sister and I are pleased that she is there

I did not get to take the tour of this community, but I did get to talk to some of the people. The community was nice and the lady was nice and helpful. We just did not like the distance and thought that it was a larger community.

I found the people who care for those in residence to be friendly and caring. Although I find the monthly cost to be higher than anticipated, I know my loved one is being taken care of.

We liked this community when we went on our tour. The people were nice. The room they showed us was not as nice as the one at the community we chose. This community was a little to expensive and a little farther away than we liked.

This is a pretty nicely maintained facility. Rooms are very nice. My mom is in a friendship suite (2 beds in the room) and it is similar to a large studio apartment. Carpet was new and paint was fresh when mom moved in. My mom is in the memory care unit, so here's some things I wish I would have asked up front: How often does mom get a bath? A little disappointed when I learned it is only 2x per week. What about help using bathroom? We visited a few days after mom moved in only to find she was walking around in soiled underwear. She now wears Depends but we have had to remind the staff several times that she needs help cleaning herself after using the restroom. Every time we go, her diaper is dirty. Activities? I'm sure there are activities but anytime I go, all I see are a bunch of people walking around the halls aimlessly. That said, mom loves it because there are people to talk to and more activity than when she was locked in her house all by herself. Overall, decent facility but I think they are missing on a couple important details of senior care.

The tour was really good. We met with the director and they were nice. The community seemed clean. They had an event going on and there were some snacks available, They were a little more expensive than the community we chose.

This a very big lovely community. It is like a resort style community. They keep the community very well-kept, it looks beautiful. This is more of Independent living. I would say this community would be good for a younger senior, but if you need some care this is not the place. They charge extra for any care your loved one would need. It wasn't the community for my friend.

My only complaint is that there was no initiative to introduce my mother to the other residents. She was left on her own to meet people.

Brentwood is a very nice facility. It is clean and nicely decorated. The working staff are friendly, caring and seem to treat the residents verty well. My only concern was the original intake process. The information we gave didn't seem to be transferred down to the ward. We told the director that we would furnish the medications for our Mom; however, the nurse ended up ordering them from a local pharmacy which cost several hundred dollars. If we ordered them through her insurance, it would have cost her nothing. We asked the staff not to provide her with the services of the beautician, yet, she was taken twice. We even told the beautician not to servicer her, and she did. She has a beautician whom she has seen for years. Her hair was cut anyway. There just seems to be a disconnect between the administration and the line staff that is concerning. We went to the director on several occasions over care issues;, but it didn't seem to help. We seemed to jump through hoops to get her there, tryng to find documents that we didn't need in the first place. but were told that we needed them.. Other than this, my mother likes it there. It is better than the situation she came from. We like having her there as she gets good care. It just could have been a bit smoother at the point of intake and follow through.

We are having difficulty with the medications administration. We have our own medicines and my husband is to take them but the nurses keep taking the pills away.

There seems to be lots of activities here, which was one of the main things that we were looking for. Dad loves it here and if he is happy, we are happy. Great place. Very friendly, genuine and professional.

Best in the area for the money.

We checked here when we were looking for options. It was a nice place, but they didn't seem to really have an appropriate area for my loved one. They have an assisted living, and a memory care. My loved one is a little past just assisted living, but not ready for full on memory care either. This just wasn't the best fit for us.

Overall they do a good job at Independence Court of Hyattsville, but there have been a few situations I think they could have handled better. The facility and the decor here are a bit worn and outdated. They are in the middle of some renovations, but they are going about them in a way that inconveniences the residents. As an example, I have seen them pulling down wallpaper in a common area while the residents were trying to watch TV. I also think they feel a bit understaffed at night, there are times when I have come to visit later in the evening and there hasn't been anyone at the reception desk.

The bathroom toliet was not kept clean. The nurse was not schooled in the proper way to inject the Lantus and Byetta, which should be in the belly not the arm. It was injected in the left arm amd resulted in a black and blue bruise which he still has.
