Our tour at The Crossings at Riverview was very good. Nothing stood out to me that I didn’t like. We chose a different place because the price for a single, private room was a little less, and the location worked out better for our family.

I would recommend the memory unit. The director [name removed] is very competent and nice to work with. In the memory unit so far have observed that there are not many things to do with activities. The meals are excellent and the staff are always helpful and nice.

Recently one kitchen helper was diagnosed/ confirmed with covid-19 infection and also two other residents contracted the virus. How is it possible for UP workers to NOT be vaccinated?!?

It's been a good experience. Any questions I've had they have answered, and they always get back to me and are very upfront. It was kind of scary not knowing what to expect, but it's been a positive experience. Like everybody else, they're having a hard time keeping help, but they're doing their absolute best. My loved one is very particular, but she likes the food overall. Activities are getting better and better now that there are more residents moving in. And they've made it a point to ask what the residents want to do and where they want to go, which has been nice.

We chose Elmcroft of Lewisburg because it seemed like the best area and it is a nice clean facility. The room sizes at the facility are good. I do think they could improve their communication with families, especially since we live out of state. The food is very good, they use fresh good quality foods for the meals. I would recommend them to others who are looking.

The community itself is very clean, however on the memory care side there is a horrendous smell of urine. Our loved one isn't the biggest fan of the meals but they are eating regardless. The activities on the memory care side are a little limited, but we do think the value for cost is pretty good.

I have been here for 8 years. This year, I'm paying [fee removed] for a deluxe studio apartment, which suits my needs. The rate goes up approximately 8% a year, whereas as at [community name removed] in [location removed] the cost is several hundred dollars less and the rate goes up only 4% a year. [Community name removed] has more activities than we do, but since the pandemic, we're having more activities. There is a lot of turnover in staff, and right now we're very short of staff. We have a new chef who trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, and he seems promising. I considered [community name removed] but found the facilities old and depressing, whereas Atria is cheery and inviting. So I'll stay here until my money runs out.

The setting is very very nice, right on the river. My loved one has a lovely studio room overlooking the river. Luckily she's on the same floor as the dining room and activities, but I think she would have a problem if she were on the other floors and would have to take the elevator. The activities room looks nice, and I know she's supposed to go on a boat ride this summer, which sounds like a nice idea. The food is not served as hot as she would like it to be. It's also an older building, so it's smaller and a little more tired looking. But she says the care she receives is pretty good. And so far we're happy with the place.

I would tell others that the staff seems to be attentive and to genuinely care about the residents. There are times that some of the staff can be rushed and short with responses. We still need to make an appointment to visit our loved one, it would be nice to just go and see our loved one.

We chose The Crossings at Riverview because of the location, the size of the room, and we just liked the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. My mom is in a 1 bedroom apartment and has a beautiful view of the river. My mom is not a fan of the food, I think they could improve the quality of the meals. I would recommend to others looking.

It's important for family members to follow up and be at the facility from time to time. I feel like the facility has had a hard time getting and keeping enough staff, so there have been a few instances where my loved one's specific needs were not met. I got her a special wheelchair due to a serious blood clot issue, which requires that her legs be elevated. A couple of times her legs weren't elevated, and one time the leg supports had been removed from the wheelchair and weren't found until a day or two later. I understand that they're short-staffed and things happen, but this was a critical health issue. I let them know my concerns, and to my knowledge that hasn't happened again. So they responded appropriately to the concerns I raised. Also, know that their strong point is not paperwork. If you want copies of any paperwork, be sure to insist you get them at the point that documents are generated. I've had to ask for documents several times and have still not received them. I've also had some billing issues related to automatic debit. They responded appropriately by waiving late fees, but months later the automatic debit still wasn't going through. I understand they've understaffed and burdened, but it's been frustrating spending the time on the phone to resolve. I think they really do care about their residents, and everyone that I have spoken to has always been pleasant and positive. And that goes a long way when dealing with the challenges of memory care residents. I've always found the staff to be friendly, upbeat, and caring.

We chose Brentwood at Niles because of the value for the money. The room sizes at the facility are just fine. My mother needs depends, they do not seem to need them often and we have to provide them so I am not sure they are changing her as often as they should. Overall it is a nice facility and I would recommend them to others looking.

We toured Elmcroft of York and it was a lovely facility. If I were looking for a place this would have been perfect for me because I like the fancy nicer furniture, but that it not what my loved one was looking for.

Seems like a nice place. The prices are steep because they have a nice view of the Alafia River. I personally don't think folks in memory care are all that worried about the view. Not a single resident was interested in the view while I was touring... The tour was moot for me, as there is a waiting list and I needed a place in less than two weeks.

Our family has able to do an in person tour and our experience was good. It was a very nice facility, but our loved one has dementia and we just thought the community was way to big.

Ideal location for our family. Admissions director was very kind and they are willing to negotiate things like move-in fees. They have "companion roooms" which will really help us with the cost. Their service rates are higher than others, however.

It's less expensive than the last place my loved one lived. He doesn't get as much personal service, so I think that's the difference in cost. But for his needs right now, it works out pretty well. The food seems to be pretty good. They actually have a chef on staff who cooks the food, so it's better prepared than with an outside food service. The staff are mostly good. It just depends on who you're interacting with. Like at any place, some personalities you mesh with better than others. But overall we're pretty happy so far.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones, it's not perfect. The community is clean, well lit, cheery, food is good, and most of the staff are good. There are a few people can lack empathy. I would like this to see improvement in the empathy department. It would be nice to have more of the doctor care, rather than a Nurse or Nurse practitioner.

It's a very friendly atmosphere. They definitely care about your family member. It's pretty clean. Sometimes high traffic areas like the rugs get a little dirty, but every now and then they clean it. It's not too bad, but I do notice. They have a little bit of a staffing problem, so sometimes they're not as responsive as I think they would like to be, or that I would like them to be. My family member says the food is okay, she just tends not to have a good appetite. From what I've seen, it looks okay, although not gourmet meals. Covid has restricted activities, but they're starting to open up more. They have lots of social games like bridge, dominos, bingo. They have all kinds of activities, some that are fitness-oriented, some that are mind-oriented. They have a comedy hour, and they have people come in to perform live music. I think they just started doing some social outings as well.

We chose The Venetian Gardens because I liked the feeling of it when we first walked in. It is very airy, clean, and open and that is what sold us. The apartment sizes are good, we got a 1 bedroom 1 bath but they do vary on size and you can choose based on what you need. The staff here are accommodating and I would recommend them.
