I was there at lunch time. I wasn't offered a lunch... I would have paid for it!!! I was hungry! When I approached the front door... there was a guy smoking there. They should have the smokers use a side door!

The staff were great. My only concern was that there weren't enough of them. As my husband's condition worsened and he needed assistance with all daily activities the ratio of staff to resident concerned me. New management does appear aware of the problem and addressing it. The security system in and out of the memory care unit is an annoyance and requires pulling caregivers away from their duties to open the door with visitors often waiting 5 to 10 mins. The meals, in general, were very good. I would recommend more finger food availability for residents whose ability to use utensils is limited (i.e. forget soup, spaghetti, etc). My final suggestion would be that the facility enlist the services of a lawn service to keep the landscaping pruned and weeded. This has nothing to do with quality of care but it does impact the mood of residents. Overall, our experience at Cortland has been very positive. I have shared my thoughts as constructive criticism.

[removed name], the head nurse, is knowledgeable, kind, and very committed to managing a caring nursing staff. I would recommend them to others who are searching for a place for their loved one.

Staff are very nice and caring. Mom's bathroom is not always clean when I visit. No trash can in bathroom nor toilet paper. Room is kind of small as I seen others that are a bit larger.

What we like the most about the community is that there is a doctor in the building once a week and pharmacy is handled through the home as well. They are cleaning and doing laundry and his room has a private bathroom.

We had a thorough and informative tour, and we were impressed with the staff and general atmosphere in Celebration Villa. The apartments are large and very clean, and there are lots of in-house amenities available. We were also impressed with the activities schedule and entertainment options.

What we think they could improve on would be the food!!!!!--somewhat better but still a long way to go.

My brother is doing very well at poets walk, have had a good experience, they have groomed him well, where he was neglected at [removed facility]. Facility is very nice, just was remodeled, The staff that I have meet are wonderful. Very qualified for memory care.

They are very helpful and so far have delivered everything they promised.

The staff are amazing! Very caring, attentive and respectful. The food is very good. Chef [name removed] makes sure that he has meetings with the residents to get their feedback on what meals they liked and disliked and what they would like to see on the menu. The management staff is exceptional. Very kind and are willing to go the extra mile to help in any situation. My mother is in a shared room with another lady. The management staff were very careful to try and match my mom with a roommate she might have a lot in common with and have a similar personality. The shared room mom is in has a bathroom between the two ladies sleeping/living areas which gives them both a little more privacy than if they were sharing one large room.

The rooms are a good size. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There are activities of some sort every day and they periodically bring in entertainment... guitarists, singers, etc. My husband is very happy with the food and the dining staff are helpful and considerate. Overall we are both happy with everything and [name removed] has settled in nicely.

Though my mother’s rapidly declining health prevented her from taking full advantage of all the facility had to offer, I was impressed from the very beginning at what a nice place it was, which she even commented on when she first arrived. From front desk, to dining to the care team, the staff is very caring, compassionate and dedicated in the care of residents, and as a family member dealing with a very difficult time, I experienced that compassion as well. Morningstar clearly strives to accommodate the varied needs and care levels. Communication could have been better at times but, overall, the staff did what they could to take care of my mother, despite the challenges she presented, and I feel this facility was a good choice.

Great core staff there, but just like everywhere in the elder care industry, high turnover in the remaining staff which leads to a breakdown in communication. So, you have to stay on top of issues/advocate for the resident to make sure actionable items are addressed.

Transportation at Brookdale has not been the best. I have been told there's only one driver. And if the residents need places to go, there should be more than one driver. Also, there needs to be more activity and variety food on the menu.

They were wonderful to my mother in law. But they, like so many facilities, are understaffed. Also, as we were settling in there, they had many director shifts. There seemed to be new administration all the time. It did cause some frustration for us at the beginning, but things really started to turn around for the better. There were so many caring staff members there and we found great care at a good price for my mother in law. It was close to her doctors and her hometown and made for a perfect place for her.

I was a little disappointed that I did not see any of the clients nor any of the aides that are on staff in the building that my Mom would have been in. Also, there was a woman sleeping in a wheelchair in the 'dining/activity' room completely by herself...she was also there when my Aunt and cousin went to see the place...we were very disappointed to see she was alone...the room itself was also in need of a remodel...this was also in the building where my Mom would have been

The facility is very nice and clean! Big turnover in staff and a few orders got missed but overall, it is a very good facility!

I'm happy with Poets Walk but my husband is in hospice so he gets more personal attention. Otherwise he would not. But the staff is friendly, and knowledgeable. I like that we have frequent meetings for caregivers.

Staff is very friendly and assists both family visiting and the member. Occasionally staff may not be as attentive as I would like, however, they immediately respond to any request
