UGH! Atria Manresa in Annapolis has been an administrative NIGHTMARE since my father-in-law's first month there in [date removed]! He initially was a Level 1 care. By [date removed], they decided upon assessment (they never notified me, tho they know I'm POA & asked to be there for everything, since i'm 15min away!) that he was now a LEVEL 5 care!?! Nothing in his needs or medications changed in that month! But it's a great way to jack up the billing! I've been fighting by phone and text and emails over and over again to get corrected care levels, overage charges refunded, corrected bills............and on and on it goes. If I knew then what I know now???? I'd pick a Plan B! I honestly don't know how they remain profitable and in business. They also, without my knowledge, set him up w/a doctor's appt (one of 'their' docs) and put him on medication w/out alerting me! This is insane!!??!! Please keep investigating! We were in a mad rush to find somewhere for him and bring him from out of state to a location near us. My blood pressure has DRASTICALLY changed...........and NOT for the better!

Mother was staying her until she had a fall and had to be moved to somewhere with occupational therapy on-site. Even with a doctor's note stating it was medically necessary for her to be moved to a unit with OT on-site, Cherry Laurel staff as well as their superiors refused to reimburse mother for the prorated rent due (nearly $1000).

I gave 2000.00 plus first month rent,when I became a resident. Due to an incident that occurred while playing cards,was asked to leave facility. I was assaulted and humiliated ,Brookdale staff in no way came to my aid. Having no choice left facility with no argument. . I wanted my money back. They admitted that they had never thrown anybody out, In the past,therefore I insist that they give my 2000.00 back and they will not do it,I am hoping that a lawyer sees this and help me. The administrator of Brookdale is not qualified and incompetent. Be careful you can not sue Brookdale .The best you can do is arbitration, I feel like a lawyer can help me win this case. BEWARE!

A couple of months ago, I saw the nurse yellon at a resident to sit down. That same nurse was telling another resident who needed assistance with eating, to chug her drink. Later they promoted that nurse to Assistant Director of Nursing. Get your loved ones out of that ridiculous place. That is no way to treat memory care residents.

Beware: this facility is a money oriented rather than people oriented facility. We now pay almost nursing home rates !!!!! I am missing the former Executive Director who took the time to listen to us and the former nursing director who wasn’t a [removed]. My family member is paying astronomical prices for crap care, we are in the process of finding a new place to live for my loved one. TRUST ME POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS: there are too many places like this around to settle for one so overpriced!!! Do your homework before choosing a facility

My grandmother was in the memory care portion of this facility right under a month and to say the experience has been less than satisfactory would be an understatement. Upon our initial tour of the facility we asked if the staff encourages the residents to participate in the activities that were scheduled for the day. Furthermore, we asked if one of the residents were stubborn and said no at first would they still work to get them to participate. We explained that my grandmother was notorious for not wanting to participate unless encouraged to do so a few times, we were assured that the staff would be made aware as so to get her engaged. We were sold on the idea that she'd be in an environment that'd help her mentally and physically. However, after moving her in we'd visit often at different times of the day and every time we'd find her either laying in bed or sitting on couch sleeping when other residents were doing activities. When we inquired why she was always laying in bed or not with other residents, the answer was always "she didn't want to get up/participate." We've spoken to staff after these situations and were informed staff would be made aware to be more persistent in getting her up/engaged; however, no change was made and it was the same thing over and over again. Some other concerns I'd like to mention: staff locks the doors when residents are out in common areas, well upon visiting one day, we found my grandmother LOCKED inside her room, staff wasn't even aware she was locked inside the room. She fell twice while there, the first time she fell we questioned how she fell and none of the staff could give an answer and would state the person on duty at the time was not there. Another mentionable concern, when she has fell she has busted her head open and after the bleeding and they didn’t even bathe her when she came back from hospital they left all the blood on her. We had to ask them two days later if they would bathe her to get all the blood off her head and leg. She had a second fall a few days ago and we made the decision to just take her out of the facility completely. Some additional note worthy items: she's had items of hers come up missing and when we asked staff about the items they stated they would have to look around and never were able to give a straight answer. We had a small rail on her bed to assist her in sitting up/getting out of bed and one day we came to visit and it was missing. We inquired about it and was informed the state came in and removed it as it is considered a "restraint." We understood why it was removed, however when we asked where the rail was so we could take it home, none of the staff knew where it was. It was my grandmothers roommate that mentioned "I might know a place where it's at" and sure enough the room she showed us had the rail in it. Overall, my grandmother is in a worst state mentally and physically than a month ago when we put her in the facility; I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially for the price of $4,900 a month!

Please look around for memory care residences that have real activities and enough help to properly take care of your loved ones The employees try their best but are so shorthanded and all the promised improvements from higher ups never get done We moved our mom to a wonderful new memory unit and she smiles again Corporate policy at brookdale seems cash oriented

While Vista Springs is beautiful on the outside, the inside operation is unprofessional and out of control! Management is unreasonable in their belief that one building which houses 31 residents is cared for by TWO caregivers!! I have seen a revolving door of staff and management at this location and it is concerning. I was told the ratio of caregivers to residents is one to eight...this isn't even close to the truth!! It is more like one to fifteen!! This is dangerous to both the residents and caregivers. I cannot express enough how disappointed I am in the business operations of VS. Numbers are more important than care, clearly.

It's a sin I have to give any stars to leave a review. This place is a house of horrors. My Grandma went here for a 2 week respite stay so my Dad could have surgery. After 4 days, she left in a body bag!!! There is new management every couple of months and the current air head is the worse I've ever seen!

This place prices went up 975 dollars per month with no additional care and no change in residents health ,this place changes hands and price gets bumped ,dad who is a vet no longer can afford this place >seems to be a conspiracy to raise prices to the highest that was charged in Indiana .can yall say,monopoly and conplisit structuring at the expence of our elderly. two years ago 1500 to 2500 now its thousands more

Too expensive; and the quality of food is on the par of a local [Removed].

My respite stay here was so depressing that I left after just two nights. The care here was so bad, the food awful and I just did not fit in with any of the other residents, in fact, the other residents were just sitting around waiting for the end.

Zero stars for Reflections, the memory "care" unit. If you want you loved one sitting in her own urine for hours on end, this is the place for you. Recreation staff and a few nurses are great. Aides are overworked and poorly trained in dementia, how to talk to residents, and how to assist people who may be difficult or have special needs due to their disease. People's clothes aren't protected at meals by simple things like bibs and residents are often left hours on end without any interaction or stimulation. A resident can be calling out "I'm scared" and will be ignored rather than comforted. They paint a pretty picture and it "looks good" from time to time but if you spend a few hours there especially when the rec staff aren't around, you will see how it really is.

My sister in law and brother in law are in this facility. The food needs an up grade and also my sister in law was promised certain services and is not getting them.

They have given us thirty day notice that my mother has to leave. They told us they would be able to take her but now they are saying she needs to leave because her care needs exceed what they can offer.We were honest about how she is before she moved in and they accepted taking her as a resident. My step father was sent to the hospital and she was upset, the staff told us that the family needed to stay with her 24/7, which is why we moved into a community because everyone works. She doesn't eat very much and they aren't doing anything to help with that. My sister came in to visit and they had given her yogurt and it had been sitting there and it was no good. We change her sheets and quilt on her bed. We visited one day and her bathroom had not been cleaned after she went to the restroom and we had to clean it up. They keep increasing my mother's medication when her behavior changes and it worries me. They don't take her to any of the activities because they don't have enough staff. They are understaffed and the nurses make all the meals and do the housekeeping. This is worrisome because they are not able to focus their attention on the care of the residents.

The memory care unit here should be shut down. Ill equipped, understaffed and mismanaged. I spent a year fighting to have basic, simple needs for my father met here. 99% of the time that I went there my father was wearing someone else's clothes and was in his bare feet. There were NEVER activities taking place unless there was a tour or inspection going on. Finally after an allegation of one of the aides reporting [Removed] [removed], and a so called, 'investigation' that was little more than a joke, I moved my father to a safe, clean, caring memory care. Brookdale does not care about your family members. Brookdale cares about your wallet. For a year I was told stories of 'what was going to be done'. Nothing ever changed (or I would not have moved my father). There has been no follow up. there was an allegation of abuse. It was 'investigated' and found that it was an 'employee trying to get another employee into trouble'. The one that reported it was not disciplined in any way. What my family has been put through over this past year is horrible. The people at Brookdale did not 'follow up'. Nothing is different. Thankfully the [Removed]. was finally fired, it is just a shame that it took a scandal for that to finally happen. It was clear a year ago that he was in no way capable of his position. The memory care unit should be shut down.

I had a horrible experience in this community. They did a terrible job caring for husband. The billing system is totally off, I had many add on's charges all the time. His personal care was horrible. This community needs many improvements. I would not recommend this community. It was a very disappointing experience.

This was a horrible experience in Memory Care. The place had a terrible smell There was no activities as they portrayed to us. It was always hard to get in contact with the staff. [removed] He had the same clothes on for 3 days. Myself and his son had to shower and shave him. His son and I both saw German cockroaches in his bathroom. I pulled him out of that place in 12 days They still owe us money back since the middle of January. I have pictures of Joe before he entered and after 5 days there. [removed]. It has affected me emotionally with such guilt that I put him in a place like that. Joe is now in a real caring place and they have wonderful activities 6 hrs a day. The staff is wonderful and take a personal interest in Joe
